- Scorch being Scorch may be fanservice, but that's not the reason he's important.

we DO Know that its scorch, since hes credited as such, its also well known filoni has an apreciation for the Karin Traviss books, so Knowing Scorch exists is an important detail
Traviss has little to do with delta squad, and it's pretty understood that Dave and George actively meddled with the traviss canon because of its controversial popularity.
Hilarious how he has an "apreciation" for the books, yet the TCW show is the very reason why Republic Commando series was abandoned.
@@mrzirak792You have a source for that?
None of it is Filoni
@@Chedring well considering Delta Squad was one of the focal parts of book 2 (Tripple Zero) id disagree
I think commando all still being used because to train the tk tropper and for protection
just retcon everything, it's the only way to be sure.
The information book for the clone wars episode that delta squad first appeared him, he was described as being similar to the scorch in legends
I’m a fan. I think I still see the point of Scorch.
Seeing him as the obedient drone hits harder when you remember that he’s “the heart and soul” of Delta.
The irony is that for a show that places a lot of emphasis on the clones agency, is that the Inhibitior chips remove a serious amount of that agency. So it really only remained a relevant point to the likes of the bad batch and a very small number of clones.
True, but it also massively heightened the drama and tragedy of order 66.
Suddenly and without warning you turn on your best friends and mentors gunning them down without remorse. Only after months if not years do you finally begin to question why? Why you did what you did? Your mind is a mess of dozens of different half truths and lies that have been forcefully twisted and distorted to put your actions in context… and your only now beginning to realize the truth. What you did was wrong, you wouldn’t have done it, you couldn’t have!? Why did you!?
The answer doesn’t matter as there’s nothing you can do. Your hands are already blood stained, you and your brothers have been sidelined and discarded… you have nothing and nowhere to go and the army you fought for cares nothing about you.
You were a tool and you served your role… now all you can do is fade away into nothingness as your body wastes away…
The chips make the clones every bit the victims in the plot as the Jedi and it masterfully explains why they would go through with it after being shown time and time again that the clones are individual free thinkers and to strip that away…make them little more than droids… its heartbreaking
Glad you made this brief on him. I've definitely seen a bunch of fan service labeling while ignoring the actual role he has in this show. That connection to him as our representation of clones within the Empire is an important one, and one I think is being done very well.
At least we still get Corey's briefs... Wait that came out wrong. Glad you can keep making money here
Its definitely something that I wish we got, but I think would disrupt the pacing of the main cast, is how other Clone Commandos feel in service of the Empire. I mean we got in the series as a whole Clone perspectives though so there is that. Its why I loved the Imperial Commando book and kinda once the BB is done we get a canon version of something similar in a book or comic series.
Imagine how angry fans will get when they kill off scorch at the end of the series
I think they could and I think they should to conclude his role in the series
@@panzernerd8486 not only is scorch not like the scorch we know but his squad is missing and all he does is walk fight the bad batch once and will get killed off. And i thought filoni did bad with grevious.
@@anakinskywalker2142 Scorch is similar to Grievous here. Grievous certainly had his moments in TCW and episodes where he was good. And then there was the episode he got beaten up by gungans...Scorch in TBB is similar. He is like Boba in the original trilogy. He stands there and looks cool but that's it.
@@panzernerd8486 i blame the fans for thinking he was scorch casue since season 2 they confirmed he was. If they said nothing that commando would just be refered to as comander commando
@@anakinskywalker2142 At least he isn't as bad as the other commandos and looks cool. Like, you can make very cool clips of him in terms of footage
No, he's not just a representation of any commando. He's everyone's favorite commando from a game and series Filoni already helped destroy when he started The Clone Wars. I've heard he's a huge fan, but I haven't seen any evidence to support that. They could've picked Boss. They could've had nobody. Instead, they picked Scorch, and now, the clone with the most developed personality between 2002 and 2008 is totally different from who we remember.
Filoni was claimed by someone as Legends fan and Legends canon enjoyer, yet, he honestly did a poor job of representing EU even when it was canon back then, and he's barely doing better. Even Sam the Maul and Galen Marek VA out-geek'ed filoni about MOVIES.
@@mrzirak792 Thrawn is lucky to outwit Ahsoka, Scorch is some mindless drone in the Imperial army. Leave the deep, well-thought-out EU stories alone. Don't tantalize us with a character design and no substance.
I find ot refreshing seeing Scorch turn cruel.
It was the best character arc for him imo
I just think it's lame and kind of effortless how they made him specifically Scorch especially considering his characteristics in the game whilst here he's just a clone with no personality, they could have easily just used Fixer instead since he's the most formal and serious one of the squad. They could even use Sev instead, as a way of closure from his mysterious disappearence at the end of the game.
Welp, the finale is here and what an absolute waste of a character, 3 seasons and they did nothing with his character, and to say he wasn’t suppose to be a character is just foolish
Republic commando series reveal at the end of the season? Lol
Oh, piss off, there is no point in having Scorch in The Bad Batch. The incompetent writers only wanted to do some fan service and pulled Schorch out of their asses and can't even explain what his purpose of being there is. They leave it to the people watching the show with room-temperature IQ to justify why he ever appeared in the show.
It's interesting how he's the only Commando or imperial clone at all that still has a paint job.
It is Scorch from Republic Commando. I feel like YOU are also missing the point when you say he is a "stand-in for any republic commando" and "he just happens to be named Scorch here". That is the REAL Scorch. He is not some random Commando with the same name and same color scheme. To say he is a stand-in is ridiculous. Let alone just assume they'd take an iconic Clone like him and just go "Yeah, this isn't the real Scorch. Just some other Clone who happens to be wearing Scorch's armor and using his name"
You're going in way too hard on specific words without understanding the context I'm explaining in the video. The point is that it doesn't matter that it's specifically Scorch, the reason Scorch is important for this context has nothing to do with him being specifically Scorch. Any Republic Commando character, pre-existing or new, would be important for the same core reason here. Insisting the story surrounding the Republic Commandos would only matter because it's specifically Scorch (or Boss, Fixed, or Sev) being used would be silly.
HIS FEATS ARE REAL TO ME
What I feel the problem is with that argument is that it's dependent on the audience's prior experience and expectations of Scorch; whom to a non-republic commando player is just another name-less clone goon you could replace with literally anyone else.
Which is what Scorch is to the Bad Batch. Scorch and Delta Squad have no history, with clone force 99 professionally or personally. If Scorch is suppose to be a physical antagonist representive of Clone Commandos remaining with the Empire, and that is suppose to be a mystery worth solving by Clone Force 99, if there is no emotional connection, Scorch could be replaced by literally anyone, nay anything, else.
I'm just glad we even got Scorch at all tbh
Still a pity. This shallowness of value is also why I'm not that fond of Rebels' Wedge Antilles... that iteration of the guy just doesn't seem to be worth the ace hype from Ep. IV onwards.

Star Wars Content: *Hello There!!!*
Well we obviously know that he is or well was part of delta squad and I’m enjoying him so far like you said he seems to be the main clone villain replacement for crosshair I like how they handled crosshair but just wish we had more of him serving the empire before he saw what happened to other clones who also wanted to serve if it wasn’t for him seeing how they treated mayday crosshair would still be serving mayday might of been cocky with Nolan but like he said he was a good solider he followed orders (yes I know it was we instead of he but you get what I mean) he was the same as crosshair wanting to serve and when crosshair finally saw how they just let mayday die another clone who willingly wanted to be apart of the empire just be left to die he realised that even those clones including himself don’t matter and would ether be left to die sent on a suicide mission retired or experimented on hopefully all the missed opportunity’s they missed with crosshair they will give to scrotch I like how they have handled crosshair but just wish we had more of him before the outpost ep when he realised the truth as for commandos I don’t know what the deal is but it isn’t just them we know there are still some clones who are serving so it isn’t just the commandos plus scortch seems to be the commander which makes sense considering out of all the commando units delta squad was the best of the best
Also should mention with tantiss being the laboratory for the empire it should make sense to keep the best trained, equipped & the most heavily armored clone troopers in charge of security.
It’s kind of nuts how many commandos Hemlock has running around. Like, that’s a lot of top tier guys just ready to go. Makes me wonder how many the republic had during the war and how much of the Empire’s special forces Hemlock has just gooning around like standard troops
Oh I hope they're not gooning around....
The fact that Scorch isn't himself is indeed a big deal.
Yeah, I have my fears he's not going to be utilized and he really is just there for fan service because you expect a lot of disappointment with Disney when it comes to Legacy Characters from Legends.
But the fact that Scorch isn't his jokey self, even a hint? I *fear* for him.
