The 7th day streak works but for some reason one time I got a Kings rock and it wasn’t even on a streak
I got metal coat, and kings rock from pokestops
It doesn’t have to be on a streak just guaranteed on a streak

But if you look at the games and the series the stone evolutions are required for some of the pokemon like pikachu and growlith. You also have trade evolutions like haunter. I feel that pokemon go should have been overseen by the pokemon company instead of Niantic
