- Just a short vid this time. My honest thoughts on the changes:
Ice fang feels really great for repositioning now. It was always a snappy movement skill but the FG made it really open considering it's a forward dash too. I also like backstep slash being SA.
Ice fang stiff is poggers. Combine it with either frost flower, moonrise, frost pillars core, or petal bloom core for a great opener cc.
Petal drill -50 DP (w/ addons) is ridiculously good. You're almost guaranteed to win any trade if you land that.
Dbite losing its stiff will take a while to get used to, but considering I always follow dbite with red moon or blind slash anyway, I don't mind it as much.
Slows are finally nerfed thank God, Maehwa feels like she has legs again. Definitely the biggest indirect buff we've received in a while.
Huge problem though with Ice fang costing stamina. She is hella stamina hungry now, like VERY.
We still need a reliable i-frame. I still have no idea what's stopping PA from turning sleet steps into an i-frame.
Overall I still think Succession is way stronger. Yeah these changes are great, but they don't fix Awk's main issues. For a HEAVILY melee spec it's squishy with barely any sustain, has no utility, no grab, no ranged damage, and no reliable i-frames. You could definitely make it work, but you will have to work twice as hard for not much payoff at least compared to other classes (and especially compared to Succ).
Still this is a good start, with these changes and slows tuned down awk is kinda playable in 1vX now. Definitely trying her out in Guild League when it comes back.

How would you weight/compare Succ to Awk now with these changes?
I still think Succ is better, it's arguably the best rat class in the game right now. However with the buffs and indirect buffs that Awk has gotten recently it's starting to feel like a viable alternative now if you want a more involved and aggressive playstyle. I've been using Awk a lot more recently and it feels decent. Sadly I highly doubt many people will try it, given how strong Succ is and how hard Awk is to make work. @@SiIentStride a few major things changed that helped awakening.
#1 the global slow changes.. I can stress enough how badly the slows were impacting awakening far more than succ. Succ has mid range and ranged options to apply actual pressure. Awakening doesn't. So it doesn't need to rely on being melee 100% of the time. This meant getting slows was less often and not as devastating compared to awakening.
#2 ice fang changes... Going from FG to SA and getting a stiff with no need for the 2nd animation helps give u a powerful engage tool. Allows for continuous pressure with 3 sec cd. Also has some decent versatility with how u use it and follow up with skills after it.
#3 -30 do on drill is a safer better option than using oppression. Drill originally had -20 dp which is solid but now awakening can pump out way more dmg.
Unfortunately imo it still falls short in this meta. Too many classes are just so fast nowadays. Stamina management is still a major focus. Since ur melee based ur risking grabs the longer ur in there. Basically 0 ranged pressure. Your ult sucks overall. Some of your best cc abilities are locked behind core options. The kit has decent cc options but the protected ones are floats depending on your core selection, so combo duration is limited. Can't use grapple arrow from awakening. And one of the biggest negatives of all imo... Still no decent s. The evasive shot only works if ur ping is top tier.
@@Nayashe Yeah, well said king. It's a spec that was designed in a time when classes weren't as fast and as protected as they are today. Idk what the AoS rankings look like in Korea, but here in SEA there's not a single awk maehwa in there. This isn't enough PA 💀💀

Im Awa Maehwa main and I play strictly Awakening and PVE, It made me surprised how fast your character moves on the arena.
Can you tell me what makes you move so fast? Are you using 4x Glorious crystals for +4% Attack Speed or something?
I'm not gonna lie; I don't like this Ice Fang changes. Skill feels too short - so short actually that I have to use Rabams to make full infinite combo x)
If you think it benefits the class in PVP oriented scenario then I'm glad I guess even though that skill hurts me visually.
No I'm only using 2x Glorious crystals ^^ I just make sure to always have movement and attack speed addons up as much as possible, and also my E buff. As for awk's PvE combo, it should be about the same as before. The 2nd hit of Ice Fang just got transferred to Tip of an Iceberg, so it's still in the combo.

That's because Awakening is in need of a major rebalance/rework right now. If PA decides to act, and buffs the spec, trust me the guides will come 😉

Oh man why the cool looking class always weaker then their succ version in pvp.. I main awk DK, awk Lahn and awk Musa, would like to try awk Maehwa but I saw the top 20 in aos and not even a single awk was listed which means something XD.. so right now I'm awk Musa, hes better then succ and also looks cool with the halberd.. but who knows PA devs may someday play their own game and realize how scuffed some classes are like awk Maehwa.

Is the dbite change for awakening only? or does it affect succ as well?
these changes are... ...surprising tbh, since they expressed they were going to make the game more open by relaxing the super armors, it seems they're just adding more for no real reason
It's for awakening only. Also yeah, I really don't know what PA wants anymore tbh, I've stopped expecting anything at this point. I'm just glad that Mae is usable now, at least compared to 2-3 years ago.
I know this isnt related, but how is succ maewha right now in the current state of the game?
In a great spot. She's cracked in Guild League and in AoS, and is a great assassin in large scale. She has ridiculous melee burst damage with the ability to damage, catch, debuff, and shred FG from a distance. One of her biggest counters (slows) just got nerfed, so bladers in general are up tremendous right now.
