  • Do you think the minimum wage in Brazil is fair? We have noticed some very interesting differences between the way American and Brazilian employees work.
CLT (Consolidação das Leis do Trabalho) is the governing law that regulates the labor in Brazil. In 2019, the minimum monthly salary in Brazil is set at R$1,006 or USD$268.50. However, there are a lot of other costs associated with your employees, including:
    - 13th salary which is an additional salary that the employee receives in December.
    - Transportation subsidy to and from work. This cost is based on the normal public costs of transport in the area.
    - Paid 30 day vacation, which begins to accumulate on the first day of employment.
    - Meal subsidies which are based on geographical area. Meals in São Paulo are more expensive compared to Salvador.
    - Employment taxes, which include maternity leave, unemployment insurance, legal savings account, and retirement benefits similar to Social Security in the USA.
The standard work week is 44 hours. 1-2 hour break or rest periods are required during each working day. Compared to the United States, labor costs in Brazil are much more affordable. We are happy with our employees who are dedicated hard working individuals. Video 110
