Alice and Uncas story was more captivating than the main actors lol! They really didn’t give them enough time and story in the movie, but their story was very intriguing. I always thought that Uncas (Eric Schweig) was more attractive than Daniel Day Lewis, he looks like another topical white guy with long hair. 😁
Uncas (Eric Schweig) was breathtakingly beautiful in this movie. For looks alone, he deserved more screen time. Mann should have developed the relationship between Uncas & Alice more. I found them far more interesting than the lead couple. I'm sure Mann had his "artistic" reasons, but it would have made the female audience happier, lol. At least this one.
LoTM was my summer job between my sophomore and junior year in college. I spent a week training with Capt. Dye and then about 4-5 weeks filming at the Ft. William Henry and "Massacre Valley" sets in Burke and McDowell counties. July in North Carolina in a wool uniform is .... Challenging. :-)

When there was a pause on the set he wouldn't move or interact with anyone else. When the action continued, he picked up his lines exactly where he left off with no hesitation.
Lewis is true professional actor who focuses on his craft........ not some whiny triggered, self centered low talented wannabe lazy so called A list actor that we see in hollywood.
I re-enacted both French & Indian War and Rev War for almost 20 years. Many of our friends were extras in the movie...they didn't bother the stars about anything star-like. Even with the interruptions of scenes & cameras & directors' instructions our troops/followers all came away of a deeper, more reverent sense of history, if that was even possible. For the record...the costuming, sets, makeup & hair appeared dead-on-accurate-as-possible & farb-free for all ethnicities portrayed. Wes Studi (RIP 😔🌠) was perfect. I want Daniel's shirt & leggings, but most of all, his musket (and I'm a female lol...) Hmmm, I wonder if that was really brain-tanned leather I saw... Anyway--many, many happy memories, much, much knowledge gained, and HUGE respect gained for all nationalities who supported the wars, as well as great sadness for all who were maimed or lost their lives defending both Loyalists & Patriots. And a big "thanks" to the guys/gals who conceived/wrote/produced/crafted this great film. Huzzah!!
