Get to know the Progressive National Baptist Convention (PNBC)

Learn about the work and mission of the Progressive National Baptist Convention, which was founded during the height of the Civil Rights Movement. Formed to give full voice, sterling leadership and active support to the American and world fight for human freedom, PNBC remains a vital Baptist denomination with an estimated membership of 2.5 million people.
In this video, the Rev. Dr. Jacqueline Thompson shares more about PNBC's work, which continues for full voter registration, education and participation in society, economic empowerment and development, and the realization of universal human rights and total human liberation for all people. She also talks about PNBC's partnership with other groups across racial and denominational lines. The Rev. Dr. Thompson is 2nd Vice President of PNBC and the senior pastor of Allen Temple Baptist Church in Oakland, California.
PNBC is one of BJC's member bodies, joining with BJC in 1970. It also served as the denominational home of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
