Nothing is safer than metal grills. Foreign style houses are unsafe. Pta nahi logo ko kyu lagta hai grill se look kharab ho jayga. Camera can be easily destroyed ya chor full mask bhi pehen sakta hai.
The incident sounds very scary, mostly in such cases they have tie ups with security staff. During my stay in Bangalore, we stayed in a gated villa complex in Whitefield. Once we had a theft where the thieves came to steal all the expensive branded shoes which are generally stored in the shoe cupboards in the foyer of the villas. They looted through the night, from 20-25 villas, yet none of the security guards were aware!!! Better to lock the backyard door at night, to be safe.
Put old style thick iron grill, the sliding kind in your kitchen door. When you travel out then grill and lock it. Kitchen window also, out Kolkata style grill in door form. Put a camera on the onsite side of the kitchen window. Switch it on when you go out.

Pls get them fitted on the windows & all open areas, mainly for your safety, dear Soumali / Mithun.... You hv put in so much of investment, for this beautiful house of yours. In Cyber World it’s called Advanced Persistent Threat , where the thieves will keep noticing everything thing for a long time collect details and then they attack/steal.
