Can it only cut in the top left corner and I'll have to keep loading mat after mat for each and every colour? I was actually considering getting a newer machine rather than a old used one because I thought I'd be able to tell it to cut from different areas on the mat so that I can load several colours in one mat...
All cricut machine along with the software give the power to cut on the mat where you desire. Use the measurements to know where to place the different colors of cardstock or vinyl. Good luck!!
Hi Terry! Can you use the Cricut design center with the Cricut Expression? My daughter found a Cricut expression with several cartridges at a great price and is giving it to me. I’m hoping I can use the design center as the overlay looks complicated, lol. Thanks again.
Sadly, the Cricut Design Space software is not compatible with older machines (including Personal, Expression and Expression 2). There are a few third party options that will work (including Sure Cuts a Lot, Make the Cut, and Inkscape). That said, there are a lot of wonderful things you can cut and make with your Expression machine using cartridges! And you can find cartridges for sale cheap too. Are you familiar with the Gypsy machine? I'll bet those are cheap now too -- you load your cartridges onto it so you can use a screen to weld letters and see what you are making.
@@TerryCowans Thank Terry for the reply. No I'm not familiar with the Gypsy machine. I've never owned a Cricut or any cutting machine before but always wanted one. I was seriously looking at the Cricut Joy when my daughter purchased this one from a fb sell site. She actually know the person selling it and it came with several cartridges and tools. I feel for what she paid that alone was worth the price. I've been doing some research to see if it can be updated and it looks like maybe it can be but I'm just wondering if it's going to be worth it or it I should just get the Joy. Thanks for you help and if you could advise which work around would be the easiest. debbie
My old 6” one has a place in the back for a computer plug. Am I supposed to plug that into the computer to link the cartridges? And then can I have the computer cut something out on the old machine, or would I need a new one?
Since I don't have a Personal anymore, I checked out the user manual (d2e2oszluhwxlw.cloudfront.net/help/manuals/cricut-personal-electronic-cutter-user-manual.pdf) on the Cricut website. It does not say it can connect to a computer, but I do see that it connects to a Gypsy. Do you have a Gypsy? That would allow you to sync cartridges with your Cricut account, then you could use your carts on any machine that does connect to a computer. Hope this helps!
You can manipulate the layers by turning them on and off. You can size everything together or separately. And you can copy elmo or insert more than one to make as many as you like.
I have called Cricut, and they have me email them pictures of the front and back of the cartridge. That has the serial number and they can link to my account.

new subbie here!! Great and understandable vid.. Is there anyway to customize elmo blocks? Like instead of it saying elmo I can have four or three?

So, what happens if that used cartridge HAD been linked prior to your purchase?

I noticed your mat was not a Cricut mat what mat were you using?
Oops, didn't see your reply until now! This must be the old style mat. I have the green ones too!
