In Willy's Wonderland a silent drifter's car breaks down in a rural town and home to Willy's, where he finds himself having to tend with a group of evil animatronic critters. I love how the Janitor's behavior perfectly mimics a FNAF protagonist - silent, following a set schedule, complete disregard for how bizarre his circumstances are, and just wanting to get payed. The pinball sessions in between shifts are even similar to the mini games appearing in some instalments of the series.
It's like he's a player.
I wish they had him play an arcade cabinet instead of pinball because that would have fit the fnaf mini games a bit better. I would've loved to see him interact with a machine that was labeled Happiest Day or something like that, but I'm not sure if Scott Cawthon and/or Blumhouse (who currently own the rights to make a FNaF movie iirc) would allow that, plus it wouldn't really fit the plot point of the animatronics being possessed by serial killers instead of murdered children who want to be released.

interesting how the janitor doesn't mess with willy's crew or willy while he is cleaning until they step out of place, once they are out of place he shows a little hostility (bopping the ostrich with the broom as its in the way, as well as punching over the turtle and siren for being in the way) but once the animatronic attacks then he goes all out on them and ends them, also interesting how the animatronics do not mess with him while he is off the clock on a break

It's kinda parallel to how the animatronics in FNaF never bother you once the your shift ends. I like the idea that once the clock chimes 6 am the quickly and quietly return to their designated areas and let you leave

I love how Nicholas Cage acts in this movie. He was so committed to the role! I know some people don't like his acting, but I love it here. When he takes on a role, he BECOMES that character in a way few others can emulate.
Also, I'd pay good money for a sequel. Just have Cage come back, doing more badass things in ways that defy belief. Maybe have the girl becoming his sidekick as well, maybe becoming more badass the less she talks or something.
I think he CAN act, but at the height of his career he was in great movies but chose to play the characters as pretty monotone and boring. It was painful to watch

@@kingheroknight it’s crazy going back and watching the stuff he did in the 80’s because he really did develop different characters for those roles. Once he became a leading man he pretty much only played himself. I feel the same way about Bill Paxton, may he Rest In Peace. Bill was so great in his early roles and then he got leading man status and his acting just went downhill. In my opinion. Good movies, but bad acting. Keanu Reeves too now that I think about it. Must be the curse of the leading man.

I honestly think the coolest thing about this is that it's plot is whimsical enough to the point where nobody asks questions about the backstory or the characters unless it has some sort of relevance to the plot, which is exactly what Liv does. That's why all the characters are "Cardboard Cutouts" as you put it

I was under the impression that they were scared of how badly he'd mess them up if they actually managed to piss him off, since he was already destroying them out of casual work ethic alone. If he's willing to destroy them out of nonchalant apathy by considering them nuisances at worst, imagine how badly he'd fuck them up if he considered them actual enemies.

kinda like the evil dead series. but hunting instead of running away like ash did ;D
I freaking loved this film, even if the kids felt completely soulless and were only there to contrast to how badass the Janitor was. Man's a total beast, does a job well done, AND takes his R&R time seriously. Something we could all aspire to!
I love how the idea of the movie sounds sorta goofy but they've found a way to make it this action packed thriller. Nic going through kicking ass and not bothering to take names. My man curb stomped a gorilla using a urinal for goodness sake. I can't express how well they hit it out the park when making this.
I gotta admit, it’s really cathartic to see a movie where the protagonist wrecks house but still has a lot of personality

What I like about this movie is he never actually tried to hunt them he just acted in self defense/anger for when they attacked and made a mess
Agree. What I didn't like was his compulsion for precise regimented breaks and the weird soda addiction. All that soda, and he didn't have to pee once. Programmed by his mission and the watch alarm. Almost robotic ...

Nicolas Cage actually found this script on a website where writers put unmade movie scripts and loved it. He decided to help get it made at the stipulation he could play a role with zero lines of dialog!

Its my greatest desire of headcanon that the Janitor in this is literally just Nic Cage's Johnny Blaze, post Ghost Rider 2, rolling around America dealing with hauntings, demons, and supernatural shit. All the while thinking: "I'm too old for this shit, but damn do I love pinball."

This movie represents a scenario that I've always pondered in terms of horror movies: "what would the situation be like if a competent protagonist walked around actually fighting the monsters or didn't succumb to cliche horror tropes (like tripping on air, or spending too long to search for keys ect)
I do believe you aren't factoring for the man who was the protagonist. Nick Cage fears nothing, whatever he's facing is afraid of him... (except the bees)
Same. I'd love to see more movies like that. Like, you have these confident monsters or villains get their shit kicked when they don't realize their supposed victim is a bad ass.

People love to fantasize and sometimes looking at dumb horror plots or despair just doesn't sit right. I wanna see a character fly kick demonic dolls and fight back against Mike Myers etc.

Genitor is a disgruntled veteran who is running out of his chewing tobacco and his energy drinks, he is running late for his VA appointment, and HE IS PISSED!!!
Thing I love, its a ritual, making a deal is just like Dante's inferno and so many other stories that actually held a true message, you make good on your word and a deal is a deal. Where I feel because that's why none the killers actually got after the Janitor during breaks and why I feel he WAITS for them to start moving, in order to kill. Its such a deep ordeal and I love it.
Honestly, I was already sold on this movie as soon as I heard that it was about Nicolas Cage fighting a bunch of killer animatronics.

The biggest twist in this movie:
Despite the violent events...Nicolas Cage actually gets the restaurant clean and organized.
This character truly has some wicked determination to not only survive all those vicious attacks, but to further work on cleaning the place as if it's no big deal.
I think his character might have extremely severe OCD
The janitor was pretty good at killing and cleaning both were perfect

Honestly after a cousin showed me this I have made this my top ten for recommending just for how different it is to other horror/thriller movies I’ve seen because with all the screaming and running, he’s just…there.

Someone mentioned it before and I kind of like the idea of this being the beginning of a some kind of franchise like Nick Cage barely has any lines but we just follow him from odd job to odd job and sometimes we meet people from his past sometimes we get little flashes of his past but we never really get the full story we just know that he's a man with particular talents and he keeps on bumping into seemingly boring odd jobs that put him against monsters.
I love how amazingly videogame-like this is- The Janitor just continues on to finish the mission he’s given despite being attacked, that’s one of the most videogame aspects this movie has

I like the theory from the video “how to survive Willy’s Wonderland”, where the janitor was actually a kid from when the place first opened who survived, and then lived his life to try and destroy them. He points out that this dude could have some sort of OCD with how exact he is with cleaning and his routines of everything. And it’s pretty common to develop that sort of thing after a traumatic event; as is not speaking. So he theorized that this guy came back just so that he could get revenge and sort of free himself in a way.

willies wonderland is one of the first horror movies i’ve actually fully watched, and it holds a dear place in my heart with how utterly ridiculous it is.
This janitor is just... horrifying. This guy might be Doom Guy, or someone similar to how violent. A good concept about the horror slashers getting completely recked.
He kinda reminds me of a 50 blessings agent from Hotline Miami, Jacket specifically.
My favorite random headcanon theory is that The Janitor is the protag of a different movie, namely a balls to the wall action movie, that somehow ended up in a horror movie. He seems to run on Action Movie logic whereas everyone else is running on Horror Movie logic. Like when Willy swipes the Sherrif in half with one swipe but multiple swipes just batter the Janitor around.

such a great movie to watch with friends for all the laugh we had its a 10/10 for me
If this is the start of a new spree of movies where the theme is "Literally everything you can, would, and want to do to video game antagonists and plots, done by a self aware silent protagonist" I'd be totally okay with seeing them.
Next movie: Silent zombie one hits every dark souls boss.
