The bald guy who says we don't need USPS anymore is so wrong. The post office has transitioned from letters to packages. There are days I have packages for more than 75% of my route of 500 residents. Some people get multiple packages EVERY DAY, along with their mail. With Covid, it has increased even more how much people shop online. And like the PO enthusiast in the video said, we deliver to EVERYONE and everywhere, including the places UPS, fedex, amazon and the like won't. Lets also not forget the hundreds of thousands of people it directly employs and millions whose businesses rely on it. It's a joke to think the PO won't be a part of our future. There a lot of problems with USPS. Too many to list here. But there are solutions to these problems if we could just get some competence running it. /rant

Also keep in mind that the USPS handles a lot of last mile deliveries (most expensive part) from companies like FedEx or UPS so even these companies rely on the capabilities that the USPS has developed since its inception.

Y'all realize that private companies like UPS, Fedex, and DHL have to compete with the price rates the USPS sets right? So, if the government offers a service that competes with their business and doesn't opperate for profit -- they can't just charge you whatever they want, bc you will have a cheaper option. The only thing keeping them from raising their rates like the oil and gas industry, where they can charge WHATEVER THEY WANT WHENEVER THEY WANT is the United States Postal Service. That's why if you care how much your packages and shipping costs, you should want the postal service to exist.

Well some of its core issues is hiring and retention. In my local area, they're REALLY hurting for drivers but they can't get the people they want, young people ages 18 - 30, because most of the people they bring in fail the drug test for mainly weed. Then the retention issue is a domino effect. They're heavily understaffed and they will make you stay for overtime when you can't. So anyone looking to do it part time is being quite literally shown the door since you will usually have to work an extra 4 hrs due to understaffing, 4 hrs that you cant spend working due to various reasons. So that rules out anyone that has passed the drug test, is looking to do it part time and is either in college or trade school. So at the very end of the day, you're left with a vary small amount of people that will actually stay but most of the people that do stay are middle aged people, and even then they might leave due to the high intensity work due to the weather the (USPS mail trucks don't have AC [they do but its usually broken and if it does work its very weak so what the use is a small fan in the summer and layers in the winter])

In small towns where the Post Office still has a location I’ve found that location is usually outside of the town center and requires a drive compared to years ago a simple walk for the majority of the townspeople.
My guess is they were building a newer, larger facility and it was cheaper to buy land further out of town instead of renovating a smaller building in the heart of the town.

I've only been doing this for 6 years and it has been rewarding for me. I take pride in customer satisfaction. We offer services that others don't. We do pick-ups at businesses and residential that are at no charge to the customer. My Mom is the one who told me to apply here and I thank her all the time.

We already get minute by minute weather updates on our iPhones, live driving traffic data and routing services from apps like Waze.

I did the job as a CCA. It wasn't worth it being sent to the ghetto everyday, climbing three to six steps to put mail in a box that's next to someone's front door while walking up the stairs with a satchel weighing 30-plus pounds with a bundle of coupons, newspapers and parcels weighing you down. The old-school mail buggies were off-limits, we couldn't use them, however, there was one guy who was super senior and he was the only one allowed to use a buggy. And as you walk up the stairs you find that the concrete's is crumbled, the wood is rotted, no railings to grip on and at the same time you're trying not to slip and fall. You get back to the station in the late evening, only to come back the next day only to have an ugly supervisor cry about your timing and how you're supposed to do more work because you're a CCA. Imagine being assigned a full route for the day which is set up for 8 hours and then they take 5 hours from another route and add that on to your day and management cries and wonders 3:12 why you couldn't get it all done in 7 hours. They do good job of chasing away reputable people who would have otherwise kept the job but left due to harassment.
