Although I do not trust everything chemical companies tell me about how safe their products are there is a difference between humans and insects. Insecticides tend to be very toxic to insects and only mildly toxic to mammals and if done properly pose minimal risk. It's up to you whether the benefits outweigh the risks. Driving your car with the kids in it just for you to go shopping is a risk for children as well but we accept that risk.
