Hey from SC! I love the video! What an amazing permission!! There’s no other state where I feel so at home than WV. From my first visit there, I have felt at home, and if I ever move from SC, it would probably be to WV.
Hey nice hearing from you and thanks for the kind words. My wife and I are both outsiders but we LOVE it here. WV is gorgeous with lots of old history. My wife says we will never leave. LOL.
Todd, One man's trash is another's treasure, so they say. I say, WHAT???? That is one impressive Castle, but he couldn't take it with Him. Vanity, vanity all is Vanity...eh? Merry Christmas to you and your family plus:),and thanks for your nice reply, it's always appreciated. Rik
Yep you are right. To spend all that money and not step foot in it, what a shame. His wife lived there for 31 years and ran out of money. She must not have worked a day in her life. A take of tragedy.
@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives wheres it at? Im nearby i never knew it had a cave. It on the castle property? *im watching now so you might end up saying where lol.
The only alleged viable cave in Morgan county is at an old abandoned quarry where I know the location but I think it's caved in so that people won't go into it. I'm not going to say where it's at. I already said enough. Yes that would definitely be a mine and they mind and several places there to get stoned for the castle. I mean you can look at the outside and see it's the same exact Stone. I also know the gentleman who helped renovate the castle in Mr Matthew Oxendine. I live only about 1.2 miles from the "cave". In other words that's a man-made cave nonetheless. Also, a friend of mine lives right next to the cave and is very knowledgeable and was telling me some history of it.

No worries friend. I'm not an expert on many things dug and I do post all my videos on Patreon weeks in advance and have others provide feedback. Sometimes things are caught and sometimes not....I do the best I can.
That was way cool!! Thank you so much for sharing the history of the castle with us!! God bless!!
That was a steep mountain to climb but it was a great day to get out. Awesome adventure. Looking forward to the next episode/adventure. 😁👍
Yes it was!
Wow! What a great opportunity! Excellent adventure!
I just love the ambiance of your videos
Thanks Tom.
Thanks for another great video. It would be so interesting in do some detecting inside the cave!!!
Almost did but the sandstone was very fragile and the owner was concerned if something were to happen.

Enjoyed my friend. As always. Pretty nice looking spot glad you all was able to pick through the trash and find some goodies.
Thanks Tony. We found a few good items and a handful of buttons but the ground was super trashy.
Yeah I noticed you talking about that. Maybe try the 6” coil there and see if it makes a difference.
Cool place guys. Still nice finds regardless of the trash. You had fun that’s all that matters. Thanks Todd.
Hey thanks ladies. Found a few things but had a great time together. The buttons were in the yard where we should have spent more time. Haha
I have never heard of this place before. You are having an awesome opportunity to detect history from the colonial time to the roaring 20's.
Thanks Tom. The old castle is quite the surprise to learn when it was built too and here in WV of all places.
That was a very pretty castle. This was an interesting place. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Same to you!
Such a awesome place to detect at--WOW just cool--Keep a swinging
Great video as usual. Thanks for taking us along!
Great video guys. Thanks for bringing us along.
Nice video. Thanks Todd
Hello from Knoxville Tennessee. Great video. I can’t believe all the wonderful places that you get to go and see. Stay safe and I’ll be watching
Hey thanks Steve and Merry Christmas.....
I enjoyed your video
Yay! Thank you!
You have a great team there Todd, as always your videos have the all important history element.
Hey thanks for tagging along. I was thrilled to get to go check this place out in person.
Todd,

How cool that you guys found Shenango China down there! I’m living in New Castle and it’s not even that common up here any more.
Yep pretty cool. It found a good home and now featured in a display.
Amazing castle and finds!
Love the video! What flew by at 23:15?
Outstanding! Just the house I would have had if I’d married money!
You can probably still buy that "igniter" (in my language) for those long oldfashioned office lamps (tubes). And yes, you twist it.
Is that what that thing was? Boy it was like a 39 in my NOX. Of course it couldn’t be silver. That’s my luck.
It was a Fluorescent tube Starter if your talking about the first signal.
Hi guys, that item you found is a starter for a fluorescent light.
Goodness. It really must have been a trash dump.
That's my home town I used to play in that cave before they put the gate up
Very interesting. I wish to have gone in but the rock is very unstable now.
@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives yes that was many years ago me and my friends would go in there on a hot summer day to hang out and cool off

That's a true story about the barn I remember that
A sandstone mine would be weird, never heard of it. Sandstone is quarried.
Yep this one is one....and dangerous as it collapses easily.
Your first find you showed was a starter for a fluorescent light
Amazing what people just toss in the woods....it rang real high....LOL

I wonder if your friend is the same as where we detected? Johnny's uncle is a contractor and renovating the house that sits in front of it.
I kinda wish the castle was my home.
First find was i believe is from a fluorescent light fixture

I am glad you showed the closed factory. This is probably a result of NAFTA
Your electric component resembles a turn light switch out of an old car.
