hope this video was helpful! :) in case you’re about to embark on your own apartment hunting journey, here are some lessons i learned: - the cheapest (and some of the coolest) apartments aren’t listed online - you have to call like 600 apartments to get one call back - research your property management company / landlord to make sure they’re reliable - i did end up finding out that i had a credit score in the upper 700’s (i’ve been paying for the utilities for my current apartment for 8 months but it finally just showed up on my credit score in mid February for some reason) and i think that helped a lot on my application - spend a couple days exploring neighborhoods! most youtubers just talk about santa monica and downtown, but there’s so many cool spots in between! fairfax is my personal fav in terms of architecture and walkability, but koreatown and echo park are great more affordable options (you can find a studio for $1000-1300)

Being a hijabi means you have to have pretty much your shoulders, stomach, legs, and arms covered. I occasionally wear turbans and don't mind if my neck is showing all that much if I'm not wearing a turtleneck. A little ankle space is also not a problem for me as I really kinda wear big chunky heels majority of the time or loafers. To get to the point of my question, I was wondering you could do an outfit guide that kinda fits that type of design. Like a modest kind of twist, I really like your outfits with mini skirts and stuff but I don't know if like a pair of leggings and all would ruin the effect of the look. Tbh my friend's father is a landlord and always requests that girls never come to viewings alone. There are cases of girls viewing apartments with a male landlord and then accusing them of doing something inappropriate or assaulting them. Also, there are probably landlords who actually do that stuff so I'd rather be safe than sorry (both as a girl and as a landlord!).

references for apartments: - thicker curtains and nice rugs are great for noise proofing. - asking neighbours of the place your perspective about is always a good idea, they probably aren’t interested in making you move there. - if you know there’s a place where realtors live, check it out. realtors know places which hold value. - no question is dumb! this is a huge decision, you should get a lot of knowledge on the place you’re looking at! (construction which was done, any history of mould/ice damage/etc., neighbours) - high ceilings are always a great thing in an apartment. airy, let’s heat rise easier, gets less stuffy, holds property value well,

Get a credit card before you graduate so you still qualify for student cards! They come with the least fees. My wife did so and has a score over 700+ at 22.
Celeste sykes it’s just a number that tells lenders how likely you are to pay back loans. credit cards are just sums of money loaned from the bank. every time you purchase something with your credit card, you are telling the bank that you are going to pay back that amount. i’ve been taught that to build a good credit score is to get a credit card in your early 20s and make small purchases that you know for a fact you can pay pack, it’s an easy way to build your credit score. just don’t buy a ton of stuff and go crazy, cause it sends you into a big debt hole lol
@@celestesykes328 the easiest way to build your credit is to get a credit card as use it like a debit card :) so like ava said, only buy what you can afford on it and pay the entirety of your bill each month. don't use it like "i can't afford this so i'll put it on my credit card," that's how you get in trouble. also make sure to not cancel your first credit card because credit history is also based on time. i have multiple credit cards and i'll never cancel my first one cause i'll lose a good 2 years' worth of credit history, which will negatively affect me
To piggy back off of this get your utilization (aka amount left on your credit card) down to less than 1% at the end of the month. It’s how you keep your score going up.
yep, I was looking at apartments in Maine. I found one that looked like the 2 apartment , almost the exact same one but it was for $600. I would love to go to NY and live there for a bit but rent is sooo expensive.
WiseWillow you’re honestly just better off living in a cheaper state or city living in a big city like LA and NY is so not worth it and trust me Ik I lived here in the LA area since I was born go where the work is and where prices are cheap not to the big cities they suck a lot of people once they move here start hating it 5-10 years later

I like how you can drive from 16 and buy guns around the same age so you can fullfill the capitalistic american dream but you can't get an apartment without a credit score??? DUDE it is so bad. I have a store credit card for the place I work (and was using/paying it off) for 6 months and I had to have both of my parents co-sign for me to get a car loan. Both of which have excellent credit, and they wouldn’t do it with just one of them. Really upsetting and challenging to be an adult 🤷🏼♀️
I think having a good credit score for renting a place makes sense (mostly). The reasoning is, it equates to being a responsible person, who knows to pay their bills. What I found annoying is that basically no one wants to give you that first credit card! Your vehicle insurance rates take your credit score into account in determining your rates- seriously?!?! A lot of places of employment also check/use your credit score! I don't think they are looking so much at if your score is high, but if you have BAD credit.

In the uk where i study i just need to pay rent for 3 months in advance or have my mum be my gurantor. No one checks thought my bank account, my job, my mum's bank account. For all they care my mum could be broke. Where i'm originally from they don't ask for anything. They assume if you get the place you can pay rent for it. Is that desirable to the landlords? Probably not, but at least it makes being an adult simple.

I live and go to school in Toronto and the prices for a small ass studio is so overpriced. on top of that, some places are mad sketchy or have poor sanitary conditions. astrological signs should be the last of their worries.

I'm in Germany and here we don't usually earn as much money as in the states but medical bills are not threatening existence, daycare for children is free and a one bedroom apartment (granted it's smaller than US standard, mine is 360 sq ft) costs me 400€ including heating. Those apartment prices in the video made my jaw drop. That's good one person income here.
@@iona-1690 True. I live in the city. My rent is like PHP 9,000 ($185, but it's already expensive in the Philippines) for a 1 bedroom apartment but if I go back to my rural town, with PHP 9,000 you can rent a two story house in a residential area.

@@Death_Bliss I am studying in Potsdam, it's right next to Berlin :) Berlin has a lot of universities but finding housing there is quite difficult, Potsdam is easier to find apartments and they're usually a bit more affordable too. I’m 23, have been working full time and saving for 5 years and still don’t have a credit score, but have always been able to rent from either being a student, roommates who did, or from having a guarantor, so this video gave me so much secondhand anxiety for when I have to rent on my own later this year

It's a little out there but I would honestly love to see if you could turn that walk-in closet into a bedroom? Maybe with a raised loft bed of about 3ft so you can have storage underneath, and then incorporate an armoire or wardrobe into the living room area. I think that sort of arrangement would be perfect for the times you're holed up in editing mode, especially with some twinkle lights and a cozy rug. There are so many apartment hunting videos that are so unrealistic/don't reveal pricing/areas and I don't understand the point of them besides the person showing off how rich they are. America is so weird. You can't rent without a credit score???? There are people that are 40 and still don't have a credit card. I like how you can drive from 16 and buy guns around the same age so you can fullfill the capitalistic american dream but you can't get an apartment without a credit score??? This european right here is so confused.
DUDE it is so bad. I have a store credit card for the place I work (and was using/paying it off) for 6 months and I had to have both of my parents co-sign for me to get a car loan. Both of which have excellent credit, and they wouldn’t do it with just one of them. Really upsetting and challenging to be an adult 🤷🏼♀️
I think having a good credit score for renting a place makes sense (mostly). The reasoning is, it equates to being a responsible person, who knows to pay their bills. What I found annoying is that basically no one wants to give you that first credit card! Your vehicle insurance rates take your credit score into account in determining your rates- seriously?!?! A lot of places of employment also check/use your credit score! I don't think they are looking so much at if your score is high, but if you have BAD credit.

In the uk where i study i just need to pay rent for 3 months in advance or have my mum be my gurantor. No one checks thought my bank account, my job, my mum's bank account. For all they care my mum could be broke. Where i'm originally from they don't ask for anything. They assume if you get the place you can pay rent for it. Is that desirable to the landlords? Probably not, but at least it makes being an adult simple.

I live and go to school in Toronto and the prices for a small ass studio is so overpriced. on top of that, some places are mad sketchy or have poor sanitary conditions. astrological signs should be the last of their worries.

I'm in Germany and here we don't usually earn as much money as in the states but medical bills are not threatening existence, daycare for children is free and a one bedroom apartment (granted it's smaller than US standard, mine is 360 sq ft) costs me 400€ including heating. Those apartment prices in the video made my jaw drop. That's good one person income here.

@@iona-1690 True. I live in the city. My rent is like PHP 9,000 ($185, but it's already expensive in the Philippines) for a 1 bedroom apartment but if I go back to my rural town, with PHP 9,000 you can rent a two story house in a residential area.

@@Death_Bliss I am studying in Potsdam, it's right next to Berlin :) Berlin has a lot of universities but finding housing there is quite difficult, Potsdam is easier to find apartments and they're usually a bit more affordable too. If you ever need more specific tips feel free to shoot me a message :) Be prepared for a ton of paperwork tho. So much paperwork. So much.

I’m 23, have been working full time and saving for 5 years and still don’t have a credit score, but have always been able to rent from either being a student, roommates who did, or from having a guarantor, so this video gave me so much secondhand anxiety for when I have to rent on my own later this year

It's a little out there but I would honestly love to see if you could turn that walk-in closet into a bedroom? Maybe with a raised loft bed of about 3ft so you can have storage underneath, and then incorporate an armoire or wardrobe into the living room area. I think that sort of arrangement would be perfect for the times you're holed up in editing mode, especially with some twinkle lights and a cozy rug.
