This is an issue with many modern video games. Attractive fictional women are targeted. And as a doll collector; this stuff is going on there even for much longer. Best example that is similar to this case here are those horrible "Lammily" dolls. The Lammilyfied the PoGo avatars.
I personally don't view myself as attractive, but at least I want to play a character that is attractive. Never needed to see myself in a fictional character and never felt intimidated by one either. Even played as male character before. Fiction for me is a way to escape from reality and to have fun.
Avatar models were not the issue. Security and lack of new content is FAR MORE prevalent than this

This doesn't affect female avatars. This new model is either a third gender option (for nonbinary people) or how a person decided to customize their female avatar using sliders to modify for chest, shoulders, and hips. They basically set them to look like a male on purpose.

Based on the Kool-Aid hair Community Reps that they put out there, I am far from shocked at their lack of understanding of us “Normies” that I can’t even care anymore.
I feel like no matter what stance you have on this topic, the models look *objectively* worse. The skin looks too pale, there's no shading on the face and collarbone like on the older models, the clothes don't fit well, some clothes have been resized and look goofy (the pikachu libre mask makes you look like a bobblehead now lmao), the hair types are boring and limited, and all of the face types make you look like an amorphic blob.
Although this is just a beta test. Hopefully they fix it and give us better looking models. The one good thing about the update is the body type sliders.
And the only way this sort of stuff is “”reverted”” back is if there’s enough mainstream traction for a boycott like in the case of the Bud Light Boycott that is CONTINUING to tank Anheiser Bush as we speak.
Just for comparison: the Remote Raid “Boycott” looks CHILD-LIKE in comparison to the Bud Light Boycott.
This avatar update wasn't really necessary. I don't think a whole lot of people are gonna even care about this.

Totally agree with you. Niantic should leave Male and Female avatars as before but with different hair and comb styles (shaved head, short hair, medium hair, long hair, very long hair, curly, afro, straight, waved, etc) as well as beards and mustaches with different styles for male avatar and even tattoos. If Niantic wants to be inclusive, why didn't they leave this options too? Besides, the original Avatar design was WAY better than the current one.

I think specifically the third option should have this customization, but you should be able to choose male or female too with more polished masculine/feminine traits rather than this lol it looks awful

The new 3D models for the characters do not look appealing. Leave the characters the way they were & just add new hair styles. If they want body modifications, use the current model as the base instead of this wonky looking character

I'm up for avatar customizations, as long and they don't change a visual spec, and then don't allow me to change the other way back........if they want mote body types for trainer choose the avatar...add a custumize body assets like The Sims...
Im konda confused? Is this an option to change or is everyone avatar going to be like this? If its just an option then i dont get whats wrong with more options to character creation. If its optional them i dont see whats wrong with it. Im kinda confused.
I think it would be really hard to get the old porportions of the character model to work with the new system. Chances are they went with the simplest option and just made new sliders/shapes for the bodies from the ground up. But I agree, it's a non issue if there are more masculine/feminine body types than the example shown here.
All the avatars are gonna change but by default they look terrible, you just have to go in and modify the proportions to get them how you want

I originally thought this was a photoshop because I checked my avatar, switched the gender to female and it looked like the old female model, I hope Niantic reverses this decision and stops trying to make us all androgynous genderless weirdos

I’m looking at it right now the legacy female pose is in the pose section it’s a idle pose for both male and female with the hips to the side (on that avatar update) I think that person who took the screenshot didn’t change her pose that’s why she’s standing like the male version

The problem I have is this: If you dont want to offend anybody just give all the options and we choose accordingly. However, on this issue I dont think they're trying to pass the message. I think its just them cutting costs on the shape, have 1 instead of 2 to prevent bugs as well within appearing on the map both normally and with party play

The old model is perfectly fine. Not even over sexualised with giant chest or back. If you stay lean and do some sport you will look exactly like that.

More personalization is better than less personalization, in this case they should let the male/female and then give personalization to chest/hips/whatever so people could be rappresented for every gender.
But as i watch the picture on the video, the female avatar is kinda "washed down" ? Idk i feel there are so many few videos about this, is hard to have an opinion on..i wish o could see a Complete and full video showing us the possibilities for Avatar customization then speak about all this woke thing .

Okay I don't mean this in any other way but the new design is horrible.
I'm a guy but I always choose the female model for pokemon games because I prefer to have a more feminine approach to things. Now, with this change, if I can't customise this I might stop playing my favourite game.. don't get me wrong if there was a non-gendered option that'd be cool but there's no need to get rid of the older models.

As someone who has actually used the new character customizer, this is 100% blown out of proportion. There are male looking faces and female looking faces. They are just not separated. It is still possible to look manly and womanly.
In the image in the video, the person set the hips to very straight it seems, which is something you can modify. There are also a ton of new skin tones and they chose a duller one.
Nobody like the truth when the lie is much sweeter smh you would’ve though this man could’ve done some research

Looks like they were inspired by SV's androgynous character customisation. The problem is... the player character in SV has child proportions, so the androgyny works there (you were also limited to the same uniforms so there's that too). The PoGO trainers meanwhile look WAY older...
Idc if they add an androgynous avatar, but it should be separate from the default masculine/feminine options

Another irritating update that rolled out is the android 8 device kick. Have a s9+ that won't update past Android 8 and still worked on the s9+. Now gotta look into a new phone.
