Omg. That bass fill the room so great
What bass? Are you serious? From that slim thing, can make bass? I don't believe it.
You're not even in the room, what are you talking about?
0:40 cat is like "not as good as beolabs, imma leave."
lol, the cats are actually very particular about their music. specifically partial to pink floyd and the doors weirdly.
Sounds good to me! Maybe Winston just likes different music?
He's more of a classic rock fan like The Doors and Pink Floyd and such :p
Thanks for the videos you do it really helps out people who want to understand the differences.
I have a simple question What would you suggest for purely sound quality between the A9 and balance? From what I understand the beosound 2 is not as good as the balance but I'm not sure if the balance can put up a fight with the A9?
To my ears the A9 is nicer, but the Balance does put up a good fight. It's also a space issue obviously, the A9 is literally 7x larger. That also means it's much harder to place as you need a lot more space. For extreme loudness I would still recommend Beolabs though, but a Balance does do it nicely!
Hi there, great reviews and sound tests as always. How does the sound quality and power of the latest A9 compare to the Balance. Are they close? Which do you prefer?
Thanks, one A9 is better than one Balance for sure. Not close because of size, I prefer the A9 for many reasons.
Great sound. The gen 4 is going cheap and I’m thinking of getting a stereo pair? Would you do this or go 1 x gen 5 and get another gen 5 at a later date? Cheers
Hard to say as I can't see your wallet. Both are good. I personally wouldn't really stereo pair them as they are already stereo by themselves, but if you have two rooms, why not?! The difference between the generations is minimal although if you are dead set on stereo pairing them I would go for the Gen 5 as the Gen 4 can only really be stereo paired over chromecast/google home and it's a lot more limiting that way. The Gen 5 has that ability natively.
Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. Good advice.@@Mikipedia
Hi Mikipedia, thanks for the video and all other reviews you make. I also have the A9 MKIV. Quick question - On the demo and day use, which settings are you using in term of room compensation on/off, and the circle eq. I found the room compensation to lack a lot of bass, but has more clarity in the overall. What do you think?
Didn't seem like a problem in my room but I do have a lot of sound deadening material around. I use the optimal setting (the ball in the middle) with room compensation. I had plenty of bass, but it may pull some if you're room is somehwat drone-y(we don't always here it as humans).
4K really makes the difference.
supposedly it also gives you more bandwidth for audio, that's mostly why.
Please friend, tell me what is the name behind this mix on "do for love" ? Very lovely lounge... Very many thanks in advance! :)

Hi Miki: recently got an A9 Mk4 at half the price of the new Mk5s so was keen to try one at that price. Have been experimenting with the sound modes, also the loudness toggle, with loudness on it significantly increases the bass output, turn it off and you perhaps get greater clarity overall but much less oomph. My A9 is placed in the corner of my living room, would you have loudness on or off in this case and which do you think is the best equaliser mode to use? I’m changing between optimal, party and lounge usually. Thanks .
Depends, loudness is on a sliding scale so it greatly depends on what volume level you like to listen to. at something like vol 20 there is a 100% loudness applied and at vol 40 it's maybe 10-15% and in either case around vol 50-55 there is no loudness applied at all anymore in either case. In terms of eq and soundmode, I'd personally go for optimal, but if you listen to a lot of podcast etc that preference may change.
@@Mikipedia hi, thanks that’s useful to know how loudness works. Not really had the volume above halfway on the dial yet as I don’t want the bass to travel through to the apartment below me - hence when I have it on louder volumes I tend to turn the loudness off. But still experimenting. The main issue I’ve had so far is sometimes the product is “offline” and it takes a while to find it on the network again so it can be used, but once it’s got it it tends to work properly.
If you can, wire it, wifi module goes to sleep after a while to save power and be in line with energy regulations.
@@Mikipedia ah ok, it’s strange that it can be switched on and playing music / me having started it manually, but the app says it is “offline” and not reachable.
And then 5 mins later it sees it again.
So what do you think of the sound? Where does it land compared to the amazing 50s? Is the A9 Mk4 anything near a audiophile experience, or just somehing that plays music?
there will be a review up soon, it's for sure way more than something that just plays music :p
please, what is the name of the songs?
LOVE the music mix! Playlist? Soutce?
Thank you for sharing.
I’m planning to buy either beosound2 or beoplay a9. but I don’t know which one to choose. Which one sounds better?
Need your kind help. Thanks again.
A9 hands down!
@@Mikipedia thank you so much!
Hello what do you think about balance and a9 and level . which one sound better? Thanks
The A9 is imho the best of the bunch but none of them are in any way bad. I'd recommend them all, but they are very different devices and sizes so it depends a bit on what you want to do with them.
Should really compare it to a devialet 103 - 108 db ?. Given the price
You could, but they're not really the same kind of product. Besides the A9 having it's own sources it's also stereo, imho the A9 wins it hands down but if you want bass and a lot of it the devialet might be your preference. Also no one should listen to any of these at that sort of volume unless you want to damage your ears :p
Also @mikipedia, how much better would the sound and bass delivery be if you paired 2 balances in stereo vs. 1, and how would that compare to 1 A9 in terms of sound quality, separation and richness of bass? Thank you!
two is better than one, how much you can't really put a number on because it's personal and depends on use case. Two would also be better than an A9 in my estimation, because then the wire is your limit to how wide stereo is and not the device. Personally I'd still rather have an A9 though because it's iconic!
Hello Mikipedia,
I have a question regarding your setup.
I want to step up with a Beovision Harmony and I am wondering if I can use my A9 and Balance as additional speakers for the tv?
Thanks very much for your answer.
For multiroom sound you can, but not for surround sound. Hope that helps?
@@Mikipedia thank you very much Mikipedia for your reply.
So to sum up, I can stream music (tune in/deezer/(...)) from the TV to my A9 and balance, but not the sound of the TV (movies/...).
Or
I can stream everything but it will not be as a classic surround setup.
@@charles-mathieulutun7041 you can stream basically everything but not use it in a classic surround setup. So all speakers would get the same signal, You'll get even more volume (not needed for the harmony) but you don't get extra emersion so to say.
Name of first song please? Thanks!

Hi thanks for this nice video :)
Question! Your cat ever considered A9 as a scratching post?
No, neither of them have. They tend to be cool about it. The only thing that ever got touched was an M3 but not with nails or anything, Bacon loved to lick it for some reason :p
@@Mikipedia :)
What is the song playing at 4:16? It sounds like Do 4 Love x Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Winston is definitely not impressed!
Depends on the songs, they both like The Doors and Pink Floyd the most so far :p
If possible.
Return it and get the Gen 5.
Thanks for sharing 👍👍
Thank you for watching Donn :D
What are the names of these songs?
Oh wow. What is the first song u used the bass sounds so awesome on that thing my a9 has no bass at all.
Then either settings are weird or it's broken, there is no way the 8'' driver doesn't make bass :p
Question: is it intended to buy one of these speakers or a pair?
One is plenty for nearly all people, it's a stereo speaker after all :D
@@Mikipedia thank you!
You're welcome!
what is that Gyöngyhajú lány remix? :)
what exactly is the win or outcome/reason for such a video?
direct comparison as best as possible over the internet. same mic and levels and all that every time so you put them next to each other to get an idea of some sort.
Winston is a spoilt brat! Imagine watching cartoons on Beovision harmony in the day thru beolab 50s and watching night time tvs via beosound stage and they are making you listen to A9? Whats that?😂
Having said that, A9 is still the best looking speaker of all time in my opinion. I still cant get mine to 70% volume without pissing off the people next door.
lol, yeah they have acquired an expensive taste. Good thing they're super sweet and leave the B&O gear alone :p
What song is that please?
when?
@@Mikipedia Best regards from Ghana West Africa.....could you please help me with the first, second and third song 'titles' and 'artists' respectively

@@Mikipedia Many Thanks!
I think the sound from the video does not do justice to the speaker.
It's always somewhat of an issue through YT, but at least you get an idea and since shops are closed atm this is the next best thing :)
I still can hear that sound is quite good. It really amazes me how this circle can play that good.
These speakers are damn expensive right?
I don't know, depends on your budget. For some they'll be cheap.
@@Mikipedia In my country its price around 3,600 dollar but I don't know how much is it cost in your country
@@Mystic_Edge It's about similar in Euro here. Their top of the line speaker is 100.000 euro and they still manage to sell those so I guess expensive depends on your perspective :p
@@Mikipedia Man I could even buy a high end laptop with that money 😂. But still that speaker is still worth the price
$5,000 in Canada.
Not at the time of filming and also this is the previous mk4, mk5 is on sale now.
It's a scam, overkilled price tag for a company who thinks they have the best speaker, I'm laughing so hard. And I feel sorry for the folks to spends 3K dollars on this junk.
Siger manden som ikke engang har råd til et billigt Phillips 😂
Uh... not impressed.
I have never understood why people post such pointless videos as the video clearly cannot transmit the actual sound quality of the speaker.
P.S. don’t look at my uploaded videos 😂
I do it for everything I review, my mic is also rather good so how it sounds on your end depends on your gear, on my 50's it sounds like the A9 sounds like irl :p
@@Mikipedia No no, don't worry. It was meant as a hypocritical joke as I've got a "sound test" of an A9 on my channel haha.
