Hi Suzie! I’ve always loved your styling and ways you suggest to combine interior design. Recently we bought a house on the river with the most amazing view. I’ve hit a “decorators block” on the house. The previous owner loved her mint green, and every single wall except the hall bathroom - including the trim and baseboards are mint green. Think mint chocolate chip ice cream for the color. Then she added green veragated carpet throughout the house. A faux rock fireplace with dark wood paneling behind it. Very 70s style homemade curtains and green curtain boxes around the three windows.
The mint green is messing with my head.
The outside white stucco home with brown trim and orange terra-cotta roof. I had planned on maybe making it look more Mediterranean or old world style. We are sitting right on the Sacramento River and can see it from our dining room all the way through the sunroom. I think I want to now do some thing with a River’s feel much like your video on the lake house. Thank you for the inspiration!

Love this style cause I live on a beautiful lake. I have a collection of sea shells and coral. I actually found a huge giga shell at Good Will in Florida for 10.00. I also collect oil paintings, sail boats and landscapes. Antique leather bound books and a few antique chinese blue white ginger jars. I also love California landscapes. I have a huge one over my couch that I bought at an antique store 15 yrs ago. I do have an ebay store and I find beautiful things through my travels.

Hi Suzie! Lovely share. Thank you. I do have a friend with a lake house. Its a wonderful view setting with large window of lake. They have a Blue Marlin mounted above the stone fireplace. (one her husband caught on a fishing charter boat elsewhere) It so fits in decor! Its so relaxing and also nice to enjoy being on the water on their pontoon boat.

These are all more "coastal" than lake house to me (ocean shells and coral). Still pretty though. You may enjoy the real estate site called Zillow and see what lake houses in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan and Missouri look like. Think I like what would be considered "cabin" or "log cabin" style for a lake house for me.
Thank you for sharing Julie, yes there are definitely nautical influences but I would say it is more streamlined than the casual coastal style, at least the coastal style we have here in Australia. Thanks for sharing! xx

You can mix both traditional with modern. Your choice! I wouldn't see the style as ultra modern or minimalist as it is nicely layered with loved items gathered over time, which gives the character to the style. Suzie x
