Love black salt. I think some people don't like the egg/sulfur taste in general so they don't care but I think it should always be mentioned at least as optional! I also add black salt to my Just Egg, about a 1/4 tsp of it per bottle, so good

When you cook real eggs youre not supposed to cook them so hard that they taste sulfury. It doesnt make sense. Its not a good flavor whether on chicken eggs or tofu "eggs."
I feel like the cold tofu salad would be a good filling for lettuce wraps. Also, I love my julienne peeler when a recipe calls for matchstick veggies. Saves so much time.
I LOOOVE tofu! I always snack on it raw. In China, there are so many kinds of tofu that we would eat it as noodles, like a "tortilla" for meat (which I no longer eat), as soft tofu dessert, and so much more. Great recipes!
i replace the yolk in my "egg" salad with avocado. like you, i use medium firm raw tofu, and i dice it maybe 1/8". i add a rib or two of diced celery and leaves about the same dice size as the tofu. i season it with garlic powder, onion powder, s&p, smoked paprika...maybe a sprinkle of mustard powder or a tiny splash of honey mustard dressing...and then good vegan mayo. brighten with a tiny splash of vinegar if needed. :)
Have you ever thought about experimenting with soy beans? We spend so much effort trying to give tofu a meaty texture when all the fiber and protein had been removed. There aren’t many recipes that start with whole soybeans. Just a thought!
I love the simplicity and deliciousness of such dishes. Honestly, so so good not only in the summer! I do prefer fresh and soft (rather than silken) tofu for this though, as it is more creamy (like a burrata for example).
It's so tasty!!! I was actually looking for a fresh soft tofu vs the silken but I couldn't find any that day I was out! Even yesterday I was looking for fresh soft tofu at the store that normally has it for another recipe im making and they only had firm and extra firm :/ wild
@@SauceStache I am lucky enough to know a good asian restaurant in my area but they also only have it from time to time - very little authentic manufacturers I guess!
So going to try those silken tofu recipes. It's always in offer and cheaper. I've been watching a few recipes recently. I always get the extra push to try after watching your channel. I make egg salad sandwiches too. I add avocado for fatty yolk substitute and turmeric for color. (And supposed health benefits.. never liked my white clothing much anyway) Also, because of you, I crossed over to the dark side and bought some MSG. Everyone needs a guilty pleasure.
I eat tofu sandwiches by just slicing firm tofu, putting it on bread with vegan mayo, black salt and pepper. Sometimes I'll put some kind of hot sauce, too, but mostly just plain. Like a fried egg sandwich without the egg, oil or cooking. 🤣🤣
I love how cute there relationship is and makes the channel feel warming having his wife critique the food i love them together definitely a couple flex
bro holy crap its been awhile since ive watched you. man all this effort is really paying off you almost look like a new man! heck yeah keep it up and keep up the recipes i love these!
I have to keep on reminding myself that tofu out of the plastic container is edible. I always think that I have to cook it somehow before I eat it but quick easy 5 minutes here and there and that's what I like especially in the summertime when you got all kinds of fresh vegetables you know cook up a near a corn and then take the kernels off of that and then throw that in the salad I like to barbecue my corn so it's got a nice little bit of a smoky flavor to it but good ideas😊
Whenever I'm making something that requires less than a full block, I always end up eating the remainder right out of the package, sprinkled with a little bit of mushroom seasoning. I could easily eat the whole block that way.
I made that first recipe and it ate a little salty, even using a low sodium soy sauce. I added a splash of black vinegar and it smoothed it out and was SO delightful! Good recipe!
Thank you. Efficient, doesnt take 50 ingredients. Something i will do and a video i watched the whole way through seeing that they are recipes i would and will do.
I'm battling IDA and pica, I have just started eating organic super firm raw tofu. I eat it raw and plain and it calms my relentless craving for sidewalk and chalkboard chalk.
Lovely idea for raw chilli tofu. I'd love to serve it as a terrine dish at a buffet of barbeque side. Love tofu mayo sandwiches with cress. Also crumbled raw tofu on pizzas is gourgeous!
A very easy raw tofu "recipe" I make regularly: tofu deli slices. I just slice firm tofu thinly, put it in a glass container and sprinkle soy sauce and some seasoning over it as a kind of marinade. I have a "steak pepper" seasoning I like very much. (Can't buy your sauce in Germany...yet. 😢😅 but it would also be awesome, I suppose.) Put a lid on and the slices will stay fresh for a week. I like that it's so much cheaper and less wasteful than "real" deli slices. ❤
Tofu can also be a great ricotta replacement (raw) combined with some white miso, lemon juice, salt/pepper/garlic, nutritional yeast. Just blend with some olive oil till right consistency
Awesome video... I've never tried raw tofu. I'll have to try this! BTW...I started using liquid aminos instead of soy sauce recently... what a difference in taste and healthier. I find it in the salad dressing aisle, not the soy sauce aisle.
Quickest, easiest tofu recipe- Raw tofu, black salt, nutritional yeast, and black pepper as a (not so) hard boiled egg alternative. For scrambled eggs alternative, just heat in the microwave for half a minute. No clean up to speak of. Black salt is a game changer, and is super cheap!
Those look so good! Years ago I learned a way to matchstick veggies from a Korean Vegetable Pancake video by Maangchi here on youtube- life changing. I have a feeling these tofu recipes will also be life changing.
This is my first time seeing one of your videos in a couple of years. I was like “Who is this skinny guy and where’s my friend Sauce Stache? 🧐 🤔” Looking good!
This looks very tasty, going to try your spicy topping recipe. Really enjoyed watching you make these tofu recipes. Cooking with Plants was the first time I saw tofu egg salad. My favourite way to have silken tofu is just pouring maple syrup over the top, is yum. I saw an interesting idea from Food Republic that you might like to try. Using sourdough discard for lots of different recipes, including as a batter for deep frying, which made me think of your channel. As always, your tofu is innovative. Nice one.
Hey @SauceStache, It's really delicious with pad thai noodles and add some pineapple... made it a couple of days ago, and it was amazing, especially when you use coconut aminos instead of traditional soy sauce... it'll be like a cold, refreshing version of pad thai noodle soup...😏😏😏😏 Definitely a good one to keep in the "make again" file for the summer months in Florida...😃😃😃😃😃 Anyway hope you and Monica have a safe healthy wonderful midweek night.... bon appetit
Tofu in its natural state is my favorite. So much vegan trend these days is to try to make tofu taste/act like something else. I recommend shopping your Asian markets and finding different styles and brands of tofu, maybe even fresh made, and just enjoy tofu for tofu's sake. The other thing I see is always using super firm or super pressed tofu. Again, the softer, more custard-like tofus have so much personality. My fave "egg" salad is using either medium tofu, or if you can't find it (hard to find for some reason) a mix of firm and soft (or silken) tofu. Thanks for this video showcasing tofu!

Yes! You added black salt. Idk why, but it annoys me when I see videos where they're making an "egg" dish but don't add the Kala Namak.
