Great video, I just picked up a pair at a yard sale and now I learned how to measure in tenths! Best $.25 I’ve spent.

Extremely helpful! I thought a caliper would be helpful, but never knew how to use one, so have not gotten one yet. Now I'm ordering! Thank you.

I have an Empire Pocket Caliper and it isn't laid out the same as yours is. Mine has METER on the top and INCHES on the bottom. It also lacks the markings for measuring in-between metric sizes. I think that you said it is a Vernier Scale, but my memory is already forgetting your video instructions. Getting old and having ADHD is not a good combination for remembering things. Anyway, I wish that I could share a picture of this Empire Pocket Caliper which seems to be an inferior design when compared to EVERY OTHER small brass caliper that I have seen since buying it. Dang it! I'll just have to make do with this one.
Thank you for your video it helped. I'm going to save it for when I have to remind myself how to use the dang thing.
    Thank you.

Hi Jeremy, thanks for sharing your experience. Personally, I think inferior tools that only serve to frustrate you don't deserve space in your home or your workspace. Spring for a new one, Jeremy! This brass beauty is currently $8.99 on Amazon amzn.to/3XHq1FQ 🙂
Or, if you want to get really fancy, you can get a digital caliper for $19.99 amzn.to/3kzP5jt I may need to get one of those as it's getting harder and harder to read those little tiny lines.
      Happy creating!

Sandy you just made my day. I have been trying to use the calipers to measure beads for a while but was never really shown how to use them so was always doubting my measurements. Now I can know for sure what size a loose bead is. I was looking at the edge and not the line on the caliper when measuring so thank you sooooo much!

Great info! I have a caliper similar but it is not brass, it is plastic. Thanks!

Thank you for the simple to understand video! How would one measure inside diameter of things? There are no videos on the subject, not with this type of caliper anyway. And not in English.

Thanks for the nice comment! Hope you found the video helpful.
With quality calipers you spread those lower jaws inside your object and there is a separate scale for measuring the ID. But there isn't that scale on these. I had my hubby double check, in case I was missing something. His suggestion, "Buy a better set of calipers." lol

Its also good to double check the measurements with a conventional ruler until you're comfortable with using a caliper.
