Do you know what some grinding discs are made from? Some contain glass particles. All of them use chemical adhesives to bond the material together. When you grind flour some of the wheel grinds off into the flour and then you eat it. Even old school stone grinding wheels put a small amount of particles into the flour. You should not use these discs for coming in contact with food.
Perhaps use this device for “non-edible products,” e.g. corn flour to be used for the *foundry?* Or, to turn *sawdust* into wood flour for resin-thickening? (What I’m interested in currently.) I too do not much care for the flavor of grinding disks.
I think this is definitely proof of concept. You did a great job building it. My only concern would be to remake it with stone in place of the two grinding wheels. Everything else can remain the same. But the stone disks would have to be made of an innate mineral like quartz & they would need to be ground into the right shape with stone cutting/sanding tools. The stone would be something you could resurface as it grinds down & you could use a sifter by weight to remove any stone chips from the flour. I’m extremely grateful to you for sharing this DIY.

Well I like your grinder but my concerns are the same as far as your grinder plates are concerned but in a pinch anything that works,may not have the luxury of perfect materials or conditions.

This isn't even something you'd want to give away.....I use a Nutri Bullet blender to make flour from any grain I can get......much finer and makes bread and muffins too.....no grinding bits in the mix.
