My dad was at this game and he said when they stormed the field, an Auburn player hit him out of frustration and sent him flying. My dad said he just popped back up and cheered even louder.
-I was in Neyland 🏟️ Stadium for that game.. back when the Tennessee Vols, were the Tennessee Vols... what a great College 🏈 Football game... -Go BIG 🍊 ORANGE
I was there that day. That was when I learned how heavy a goal post is. Thought it would crush me to death. Tony Robinson was special. As far as I am concerned, the best QB to ever wear the orange. What a great team and what a great day that was. Back in the day when an o-line dominated a game the that group did just that. Andrea Creamer came up from his corner position and blasted the lead blocker back into Bo Jackson. Bo stood on the sideline the rest of the game. That was when I knew Bo. Maybe the greatest talent of all time but not the heart of a champion. And who can forget dale jones.
I was there too. Right behind the Tennessee bench. If my memory is correct Bo jackson was injured with bruised/cracked ribs coming into the game. Nowadays he wouldn't have even dressed out for the game
My dad had a piece of that goalpost because he was with the crowd that carried it. But all the paint had come off and it was just a piece of metal so he threw it away.
@@govols1995 I kid you not, your dad was part of a crowd that saved my life that day. That goal post came down on my chest and its weight and every drunk student that was hanging on it began to push down. A friend saw it happening and started yelling, lift it up and in an instant it came up and we ran out of the stadium with that thing.
I was at this game, too. My Junior year. As much as I loved the win over Alabama during my Freshman year (1982) (and the 3 that followed), I think this win was better. Especially when you throw the Sugar Bowl in, too (which I also went to).

Auburn not having a QB that could throw a forward pass killed them that season.

I was 15 years old and was at this game
Auburn having zero passing game doomed them that season.
Tennessee is always the thorn in the foot of Auburn.
Not having a QB killed Auburn that year, they could not throw a forward pass.
