- In 2009, a series of physical setbacks, a broken engagement and a cross-country tour left India.Arie exhausted and at a spiritual crossroads. She left the music industry to find some healing and slowly began working again over the next few years. 6 years later and I am crying my eyes out what a powerful interview. I never understood the relationship between self love and surrender.
Wow, that made my cry. The truest of truths is in the simplicity....when we know all is well and in divine order no matter how bad or out of order they seem.

I went thru something similar with an illness, and while lying in a hospital bed, I surrendered and things got better. You know when to let go.

I am glad I saw this video. I understand what India and Oprah is talking about. Eventually, you get tired and say it’s whatever. When I gave up all my problems to God, and trust he is working it out for me I feel so much better. It just seems like life is a bit more happier. I get hit with life’s problems at times too, but since I don’t worry anymore then those problems seem smaller than they are and I can cope with them better.

The bible says that doctrines will come that would have a little bit of truth but full of poison. This is what this is. These can't believe that God really loves them. They think that they have to love them and allow god to do what he already promised to do. Not because we are enlighted by some higher conscientiousness. But because of his grace. Ms India Arie is one of the few black women who dress to honour their ancestors. She's a confident lady so comfortable in her skin. I wish many black parents would raise their daughters to be like her.

It's more a process than a one time shot. Surrendering is the process of balancing how to constantly let go while controlling emotions and believing for a complete turn around. Like she said after her first moment of peace when she saw herself in the mirror her situation had not changed, it's in that particular moment when she said....I dont like it but I'm surrendering to it, I dont want to be here (in this head space/thought process or emotional rollercoaster or dark times in life period) but I am making the conscious decision to accept this moment of discomfort while believing it will end. Surrendering is when you stop trying to control life and say to yourself I will survive this too.
