Sadly turks you bumped into couldn't really tell much. I've seen the video you made in Pennsylvania, and surprisingly enough couple of them knew way more about what's going on in Turkey than some locals who lived here whole their lives. But then again language barrier makes all the difference so it may have been better to make them speak in turkish then add subtitles. The only thing I wanna add is that countries can't be "friends", they can only be "allies" :) Have a good one!
I'm an international student studying in Boston for the past 4 years. I've been many other cities and states as well. In my experience and observations people are not informed well and the few information that they have is mostly negative because of media. Most of the time when I tell people I'm from Turkey, some people don't even know that there is a country named turkey, some of them think we speak arabic and Turkey is a deserted country also couple of people told me that do we ride camels in Turkey. However other people I met with were very friendly and informed.
Lived in San Antonio, TX for 3 years, I have many things to say about both countries, I miss US when I'm in Turkey, and I miss Turkey when I'm in US. People are mostly friendly in both countries, the one major difference is about individualism I think. In US, everyone is so independent (and lonely), in Turkey family is everything, people are too dependent on others. I like the fact that people know and care about "personal space" in US, good luck in Turkey about that. Also I was so scared to get severely sick or injured when I was in US, because health sector is a total wreck. Turkey is much much better in medical and health related issues. And the shores... God I couldn't find any decent water to swim in, in US. I tried Galveston, Panama City Beach, Miami, Austin (Barton Springs), but Turkey's beaches are just paradise compared to all that. Both countries have their perks, but if I had the chance, I would work and live in US, and visit Turkey occasionally.
To people who want to learn about the USA; understand that just because you’ve been to NYC or LA doesn’t mean you know what the rest of the USA is like. You’re going to need to visit a lot more than the big cities. Visit the national parks and state parks. Also try to visit some smaller communities too

As a Turkish person, i have no problem with any other countries. They are all living beings like us and the only difference is culture. I also have no problem with religions. Everyone believes and worships something and you can't change it by hating or mocking their beliefs.

I think Americans think the Turks are Arabs, but we are not arab. Now government is supporting arabs, syrians and etc. Turkish people is not love them, because there is a cultural conflict. When I go to Istanbul touristic places I see the other arab people. Don't think "it is turkish people" no, we or not arab.
If we are talking about politics, the answer is never gonna change for any country. But if we are mentioning about people in the U.S., I have something to say. Firstly we can't generalize people because everyone has a different ethnic(White, Indian-American, African-American,...). Secondly, these people are very kind and don't judge anyone according to their dress, hijab, hairstyle, etc., unlike Turkish people. I'm gonna be honest there is no neighborhood relationship in the U.S. Also, I live in Texas and here is kind of like a 'retiree' place. But I love these people:)

The people interviewed are quite aware and not blinded by propaganda from pro or anti American sources. Those folks can rationally make their osn minds up and come to a reasonable conclusion.

I'm surprised, my friend went to Turkey and he told me that people their they don't like speaking to tourists by English and here i see that they can communicate in English
İ think your friend is a little bit lier because in Turkey when we see tourist we always want to speak with them even we dont know any english grammer.İt is always honor to be contact with tourist in Turkey.And you are always welcome here.

I had a friend who did the exactly same thing, he went to tour and what he found in Istanbul that they "in general" don't use any language except Turkish...

Sadly turks you bumped into couldn't really tell much. I've seen the video you made in Pennsylvania, and surprisingly enough couple of them knew way more about what's going on in Turkey than some locals who lived here whole their lives. But then again language barrier makes all the difference so it may have been better to make them speak in turkish then add subtitles.
The only thing I wanna add is that countries can't be "friends", they can only be "allies" :)

I'm an international student studying in Boston for the past 4 years. I've been many other cities and states as well. In my experience and observations people are not informed well and the few information that they have is mostly negative because of media. Most of the time when I tell people I'm from Turkey, some people don't even know that there is a country named turkey, some of them think we speak arabic and Turkey is a deserted country also couple of people told me that do we ride camels in Turkey. However other people I met with were very friendly and informed.

Lived in San Antonio, TX for 3 years, I have many things to say about both countries, I miss US when I'm in Turkey, and I miss Turkey when I'm in US. People are mostly friendly in both countries, the one major difference is about individualism I think. In US, everyone is so independent (and lonely), in Turkey family is everything, people are too dependent on others. I like the fact that people know and care about "personal space" in US, good luck in Turkey about that. Also I was so scared to get severely sick or injured when I was in US, because health sector is a total wreck. Turkey is much much better in medical and health related issues. And the shores... God I couldn't find any decent water to swim in, in US. I tried Galveston, Panama City Beach, Miami, Austin (Barton Springs), but Turkey's beaches are just paradise compared to all that. Both countries have their perks, but if I had the chance, I would work and live in US, and visit Turkey occasionally.
I agree Mate,, When I go to Turkey for a holiday,, i miss being in Australia,, but when in Australia, I miss and want to holdiay in Turkey.
To people who want to learn about the USA; understand that just because you’ve been to NYC or LA doesn’t mean you know what the rest of the USA is like. You’re going to need to visit a lot more than the big cities. Visit the national parks and state parks. Also try to visit some smaller communities too

I see most people mention LA California,New York,Texas,LV Nevada,Kansas, Chicago, Missouri, Washington, Arizona, Boston, Idaho and New Jersey whenever they are asked how many states in USA they know and can name.

Turkish people know loots of this about America(music, movies, electronics, food etc.) but as I can see we don't know about American people cause we couldn't find a chance to be in contact with them. I worked with some American people before and I can clearly say that there are soo nice people among them and I'm still in contact them. They are trying to understand us, our culture, our life and very respectful when they are doing this. So everybody wants peace! Only peace! We should accept ourselves and try to learn how to be happy together. Everybody deserves a good life. Live in peace!

As a Turkish person, i have no problem with any other countries. They are all living beings like us and the only difference is culture. I also have no problem with religions. Everyone believes and worships something and you can't change it by hating or mocking their beliefs.
I can say this not as a Turk but as a human being for the Americans, we are all human beings thats it. It's the politicians who fight each other, not the people. But what I can say about our people is that they love everyone as long as they don't get messed with.

I think Americans think the Turks are Arabs, but we are not arab. Now government is supporting arabs, syrians and etc. Turkish people is not love them, because there is a cultural conflict. When I go to Istanbul touristic places I see the other arab people. Don't think "it is turkish people" no, we or not arab.
If we are talking about politics, the answer is never gonna change for any country. But if we are mentioning about people in the U.S., I have something to say. Firstly we can't generalize people because everyone has a different ethnic(White, Indian-American, African-American,...). Secondly, these people are very kind and don't judge anyone according to their dress, hijab, hairstyle, etc., unlike Turkish people. I'm gonna be honest there is no neighborhood relationship in the U.S. Also, I live in Texas and here is kind of like a 'retiree' place. But I love these people:)
