The golden ratio can be seen not only in the form or in the intervals used, but even in the motifs such as the last one at 23:55, which applies it (of the 8 eighth notes of the measure, emphasizing the fourth as the climax, thus creating two groups: 3 + 5) of the Fibonacci series and 3/5 = 0.6 (approximately the golden ratio). Bartók's conception of mathematics and proportion is amazing. Never stop surprising me!

If you know the music of Bali, you hear its spirit in so many of these pieces (as well as in grander works like the 2nd Piano Concerto and the Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion). But I've never seen any explanation of how Bartok, living in distant Budapest, came to know Balinese music so deeply. Balinese music was rarely written on paper, and does not use Western notation, so I assume he must have heard it. A Dutch company began making records of gamelans (Balinese orchestras) in the 1920s, but mainly to sell to the Balinese. The famous gamelan of Peliatan, now part of Ubud, performed in Paris in 1931 as part of the six-month Colonial Exhibition. Did Bartok gain his knowledge of Balinese music from listening to those Dutch recordings, or from hearing the Peliatan gamelan in Paris, or how? Would love to know if anyone knows of answers to this.

I wondered what BTS's mikrokosmos is, bc many BTS fans told me about it. Unfortunately I couldn't find it even I've searched it with Korean title "소우주". Maybe it is not uploaded yet. It would be also nice music but I want to say, that Bartok's other music are also great.
