    Love it quite similar to our quads. We setup with full UHMW skids underneath and our rifle scabbards are not so vertical…why because the crown on the muzzle gets damaged. Angle your scabbard more so it sits on the belly trigger more plus easier on the scope reticles. We do 80-100 miles a day in desert so gun needs to be perfect or it gets destroyed. Your on point about the pot metal factory rear racks they suck we reinforce the factory ones with braces and expanded metal. I should do a video of our rigs. Thanks really enjoyed your video.

      Cheers mate. I would be keen to see your setup. No muzzle issues in my scabbards as majority of the load is shared by the firm hold of the sheep skin and there is a rubber pad at the bottom. Thanks for watching.

    Nice looking rig. I'd be interested in seeing how you made the fibreglass cases, and more details on how you made the scabbard. Looks much better than the plywood boxes most folks make at home.
    Interesting to hear about mounting a light on your rifle, and having a gun rest on your quad; Both are foreign concepts here (ON., Canada) as hunting 30 minutes after sunset is illegal, as is having a loaded gun on/in your vehicle (even shutoff) which precludes even using your ATV as a hunting stand.

    • @BoltActionProductions
      @BoltActionProductions  6 лет назад

      I have no real intentions on making any more scabbards at the moment so a full on how to video might be out of the question for some time.
      Correct me if I am wrong but in Canada you are able to ride you ATV's on public roads? In Australia this is not the case and ours are only allowed on private land. On private land we can spotlight feral pests and deer in some locations where the numbers are getting too high. On public land in Victoria, Australia it is basically illegal to carry spotlights in deer hunting zones. On public roads rifles must be unloaded, magazines removed and now you must also have the bullets removed from you magazine. So our rules are similar in some ways.
      I don't tend to use spotlights so much anymore as the LED torches are more versatile. I talk a little bit about this here. ruclips.net/video/eBnlnomCtqs/видео.html

    • @jordanharkness
      @jordanharkness 6 лет назад +1

      Canada will have different rules depending in which province you are riding. In Ontario, no, you can't ride offroad plated vehicles on road. In many rural municipalities, we are able to ride on the side of the road with added restrictions (speed, passenger limits etc). We're allowed to ride offroad on private land and crown land; We are extremely fortunate to have endless miles of trails.
      Our hunting rules are very clear; Your firearm must be in a proper case 30 minutes after sunset. We ARE allowed to hunt on closed/abandoned roads as long as they aren't a public thoroughfare... although, it's unsafe and generally bad form to be firing down the lane. They key is that sitting on your bike to hunt deer, moose, or even grouse/pheasant etc. is illegal because they count that as having a loaded gun in/on a vehicle. Basically, if your gun is in/on a vehicle, it is unloaded. period. No matter where, private, public, crownlands, on road, offroad. Unloaded.
      ... keep in mind that the rules are the rules, but the further north and further away from civilization you get, the rules tend to be more malleable. It all depends on who's choosing to follow them, and who's around to enforce them.

    • @BoltActionProductions
      @BoltActionProductions  6 лет назад +1

      Both big countries with very different landscapes. I would love to ride the trails in some parts of Canada just with the camera in hand. No matter where you are the rules tend to become a little more vague the further you get away from civilization.
      Shoot straight mate..

    Sorry Steve back again to get started on the rifle scabbards, i will do one at a time what volume of resin and hardner and cloth will i need? i will pick up a lth, of pine and start to shape to the rifle. i own a multi barrel rifle 220 swift, 243 win, and 6.5 by 284, the 6.5 is 26" barrel what would you recommend make the mould to the 26" rifle or do it to the 22" barrel. rifle it would just mean the rifle will ride higher in the scabbard ? • @BoltActionProductions

      Buy more than you think you need and ask your supplier the correct mixing ratios. You will probably make a few mistakes so be prepared. Very hard to make one size scabbard that fits all well. You need to work out your priorities with rifles and either make two different sizes or make one to the largest rifle and be happy with a loose fit on the smaller rifles. Keep me posted

      rifle rest on the front of the quad added a cross bar holds the GPS and
      the GOPRO . working on a double rifle rack for the front, i would like
      to try the fibreglass rifle scabots , did you use a release agent on
      you timber mould before glassing over ?? and how many coats of glass
      matting are in yours? have done a bit of fibreglass work before, back
      when GOD played fullback for Jerusalem. so awhile ago. Thanks for your
      help."

    • @BoltActionProductions
      @BoltActionProductions  7 лет назад +1

      For the Scabbards make a timber mold in two halves to the shape and size
      of the internal dimensions you want allowing for the thickness of your
      liner whether it be sheep skin or artificial wool. The mold should be in
      two halves vertically split down the middle. When you are happy with
      the dimensions and the timber is sanded smooth use a release agent and
      glass over both halves with one layer of fiber. Once dry use a knife to
      get the excess off the edges and release each half. You should now have
      two mirror images that should be ready to put together. Now you use a
      waterproof contact adhesive to fix the liner of choice to the inside of
      each half. Once done hold them together with a bit tape and use glass
      strips in the middle to start the fixing of the two halves being careful
      not to get resin on the inside. Once the two halves are together now is
      the time to glass any fixings to the outside before glassing over the
      whole lot again until you are happy with the strength. Depending on
      thickness of fiber usually another 1-2 layers of glass over the whole
      lot will suffice. Then you can paint or use a colour in the final
      gelcoat to achieve the result you want.
      I hope this helps.

      Simoco is the new name for Phillips. You can contact them here www.simocowirelesssolutions.com . It isn't easy to make a generic instruction manual for them as they can be setup so many different ways. Multiple options for mic/head units and individuals can program them however they want so there is really no standard. Depending on which one you have and how the buttons have been programmed it is going to be hard. The best shot is to get the software and a programming lead and set it up to suit your needs. With the software you can download off the radio and see how it has been configured. You can then change the button layout configuration yourself and upload the changes back to the radio.
