You are such a valuable asset to our little local region. Because of you, so many international viewers (and German ones from different parts of the country) get to see this region. I can't thank you enough. ☺

      SHAKESPEARE on the future,
Heaven! that one might read the book of fate and see the revolution of the times.
If you can look into the seeds of time, and say which grain will grow and which will not, speak then unto me.
On your future as a Shakesperian actor.

2:13 There is a route without steps (along the road cars and coaches take to the castle, Lindtalstraße, Dürrbachweg etc.), but it's a massive detour through the forest.

I grew up in a small town next to Freudenberg, and I have a few amazing childhood memories about the adventures to the castle. My dad took us there on a few Sunday afternoons in autumn.
In the summer, we had many bicycle tours to the ice cream shop on the Main.
And once I grew older, Freundenberg was a valuable asset, because it was in another state, were the shops are allowed to stay open longer an you could buy beer after 8p.m. ;)

Ah, a honorable mention of my birth town of Crailsheim. 😀
And you can definitely find a string of those medium- to sometimes quite large unknown castles if you follow rivers like the Neckar or Main with hills on their sides.

I just discussed with my wife that we will be taking a few trips this fall based on your videos. Major trips are not feasible right now due to some personal restrictions, so we'll do nearby tours. Thanks to your videos, there are so many destinations still to explore. We live only about 20 km away from you. Therefore, the local tours are perfect. Thank you for the great ideas. Rewboss Tours 🙂

There are so many amazing castles around Germany, it's a shame that Neuschwanstein and similar vanity-palaces get all the fame. The one in my home town is super well preserved with some incredibly vibrant history, and I know of at least two other ones a few towns over that are similarly breathtaking.

I guess I bicycled there 50+ years ago. Last fall I ‘discovered’’ a castle ruin - Burg Stahlberg, often confused with Stahleck, the castle youth hostel above Bacharach. Stahlberg is above the Bacharach suburb of Steeg, about a km from the Rhine. Nice ruin. There was one other person there

Dear Andrew, I always enjoy your videos. There's one small caveat: The music overlay. While there are many, many far worse examples of this on RUclips, I wish there were no music overlays at all, unless the music closely relates to the subject in question. Narration and video should be enough on their own, in my humble opinion.

Very nice I was in that area some years ago. There are 2 other nice castle ruins within 10 km of Freudenberg along the Main. Kollenburg, outside Collenberg and Henneburg outside Stadtprozelten. Both on the other side of Main. And of course the non-ruin castle in Miltenberg.

  • @4fortytwo
    @4fortytwo 2 месяца назад +1

@rewboss Another very neat castle / ruin in that area is the Henneburg in Stadtprozelten (only like 10km away from freudenberg). If you don't already know that one, it is definitly worth checking out too!
Additional fun facts: the town Dorfprozelten located right next to Stadtprozelten is actually slightly bigger despite the name.
Stadtprozelten does not have a bridge but you can cross the main via ferry

The view from the keep isn't the only reason for its hight. The keep is also to cover the palas - the main residential building of a castle - against the side of attack.

Stadtprozelten and Klingenberg in the area seem to follow a similar style in terms of use and condition. If you want to see more ruined ruins you'll have to go to the nearby Kollenburg in the town of Dorfprozelten reached best from Collenberg. (Yes that is the mess of the name and location, I didn't do that on purpose)

Yes, it looks like it (except for the extra rolled wafer that doesn't fit the theme). No wonder, as it was invented by an Italian in Mannheim, only about 80 km (50 miles) from Freudenberg as the crow flies.

Concerning "Not a theme park": Freudenberg/Kirschfurt bekommt höchst wahrscheinlich eine Umfahrung.
