  • Today we are reviewing an ebike made by TST. What do ebikes and tiny houses have in common? You can park your RV park model at the RV park or on the lake and ride your ebike to visit the neighbors or enjoy the scenery! Ebikes are great fun and exercise! They are lower impact than traditional bicycles and you don't have to exert as much effort. They are great for older folks!
Our review is extensive and includes about everything you need to know about this particular bike, so we won't include too much in this description. The video speaks for itself!
Full disclosure - we were gifted this ebike by TST in exchange for this review.

Sadly purchased the TST SURFER - The controller is not working. The first one was stuck on pedal assist 5 and the replacement they sent will not power the bike up. Stay away.

Sorry to hear about that! We hope they can get you back in action soon! We haven’t had this one too long as of yet. Our only issue besides the cons we mentioned in the video was quick battery fade, but we were on our first conditioning cycle or two and doing a lot of various tests and testing in different conditions.

How long does battery last if you’re doing 2-3? I have hills where I live. Any issues going up or down hills? Also I’m 66 and haven’t been on a bike for years 😂 not sure if I should try this.

Once you try it, you'll love it! Hence the old saying, "it's just like riding a bike!" We did not do full and complete battery testing, but in our tests, we used a myriad of pedal assists, used throttle only and rode on various surfaces and up and down lots of hills. We were able to get around 26 miles out of the first and only charge. Ebike batteries need to be conditioned, though, so you can get optimum mileage. Conditioning entails at least three cycles of charging fully, depleting to near empty and repeating. Also, there are so many variables built into the range - assist level used, psi of the tires, surface ridden on, terrain, rider weight and how much pedaling you do versus how much "throttle only" you use. So, really range is a variable best guess. Our best guess on this bike is with a 2-3 pedal assist in a hilly area, expect around 30-35 miles at the most.

We got your email. Tammy hasn't had time to sit down and look it up yet. We've been knee deep in renovations this week, but I'll remind her tonight!

Do you know how to connect that bike to your phone?

We did not try as when we prepared to download the app we saw many reviews that said there were connection issues. Apparently it’s through Bluetooth pairing which we have problems with anyway from many other devices 😬This page on the TST site may help - tstebike.com/pages/app-register
Would recommend not having the phone on wi-fi, being away from other Bluetooth devices, having only one phone in range and having the battery fully charged on the bike. Even with our more expensive Aventon bikes we were not impressed with the app and we used third party apps to track our rides and mileage (AllTrails, Strava, etc.). Hope this helps!
