Dear Damian , test out the TTArtisan 35mm 1.4 for Apsc and Fuji .... the first China lens that that I enjoy! Great quality and great picture quality! I save up some money for a 35mm for my xt2 and xt1 . I want a wide open lens so xf35mm 1.4 , yes slow af but 1.4 .... now I spent 80€ for the TT and been happy
I just bought the meike 35mm 1.4 also thanks to your review and I like it a lot, if you get the chance please tell us you opinion on the kamlan 21mm and 15mm , which 21 mm (or thereabouts ) would you recommend ?
Fantastic peak into this lenses capabilities! Have you tried the 7artisan equivalent 35mm f1.2 and, if so, would you suggest the PerGear or the 7artisan? Seems like a pretty close comparison but I can't seem to find anyone who has done one! hint hint lol
Another fab video. Out of interest are there any vintage lenses in particular that can be used with an adapter that you'd recommend instead? Haven't seen that arcade in the city centre since the start of lockdown!
Ye I've hardly been in to town which is super weird for me. For this focal length I'll have a think but the Pentax SMC lenses are usually rather cheap to get and produce nice images on the Fujifilm system!
Thanks. At that price, it is tempting. How well "damped" do you find the manual focus ring? (And while I'm thinking about it - any news of your SmallRig "L-Shape Grip" review?)
I've noticed that there is also a slower (f/1.6) 35mm lens from Pergear at a almost a "use it once/throw it away" price, though one of the reviews I saw noted that the aperture ring was a bit loose for his liking. I will look forward to that SmallRig review. Thanks.
Hi Damian Brown will this lens (Pergear 35mm f1.2) fit Sony a 7 II Full frame camera in crop mode? will there be any quality issue for Videos especially?
I had the meike 1.7 for my x-t system and i loved it. But now you can get the xc-35mm used for arround 170€ and there is no reason to buy any cheap lense.
I hear you but this lens is almost 1/2 the price of the xc lens and some people prefer to have the aperture ring and certain other properties of these manual lenses, maybe. Also this lets in a lot more light. I think good to have different options at different prices, at least for us as the consumer.
@@DamianBrown true. There is also the realy nice samyang 35mm f1.2. its sold used for arround 140-160€ since viltrox started to sell their 33mm. But If you are Low in budget, its a good option.
Hold up my brother?! Are you seriously a JW?! "Shining as illuminators" is the book for RP School isn't it? Me and my wife have been serving for over 15 years! Hope you and your family are well!
Love your vids. Thanks for showing colored people in you pics
Thank you!
I’ve got the Pergear 1.6 version and it does take surprisingly good photos for a cheap price.
Good shout
That is some record collection you have. Spotted LZ too. Nice review.
Good spot!

Thanks for the tip!!
I have found that after a while and if it is in warmer conditions, the focus and aperture rings tend to loosen a bit with these 3rd party fuji lenses
Thanks for letting us know! Definitely good to know

I've been eyeing up the kamlan lenses actually, so I'll keep that in mind for sure!! Thanks

@@DamianBrown cheers, much appreciated!
Looking great!!! I got the xc35 f/2, that is maybe unbeatable price /performance, but I definitely want to give a try to a pergear lens, maybe a 50mm🤔
Nice little lens that xc35!!
@@DamianBrown yes indeed, it redefines the cocept of 'nifty' 😜
Don't buy 50mm its not good. 35mm 1.6 is much much better... lookin forward to try 1.2 version
black lens in front of a black background - awesome.
😅 well, why not :)
Thanks. At that price, it is tempting. How well "damped" do you find the manual focus ring?

The mf ring is pretty good, at least this one was.
The L grip... It's queued up for publishing :)

@@mikearst2940 just checked and there's one more video to go up and then the following two are Smallrig :)

I haven't got a Sony sorry :( It won't fit natively because it's a Fujifilm mount. Perhaps they made it for Sony too.
I’ve got the Pergear 35mm f1.6 version today for my Fuji XT30 but it doesn’t shot photos when I press the shooting button please help :/
Set "shoot without lens" in the menu.
Can you suggest me which one is best
35 mm 1.4 pergear or 7artisans 35 1.4 mark 2 ?
Not much difference, both are good.
How does it compare with the meike 35mm f/1.4?
Favourably, the Meike still seems to be a favourite amongst many who use these kind of lenses.
Good image samples. I have heard good things about 7 artisans 35mm 1.2 mark2. Could you compare it to the Pergear? Thanks.
If I get hold of it that sounds like a good idea
Somehow I’ve got a feeling that this Pergear is actually a rebranded 7artisans 35mkii… 🤔
@@Mebtaku Interesting. But Pergear appears softer, and 7 artisans, though creamy too, appears more aggressive. Some reviewers prefer Pergear, though.
On a Mu-43 body this lens is usable wide open. for the price a bargain
Good call!
Looks WAY better than the 7Artisans imo.
Which version of the 7 artisans 35 1.2 are your referring to?
Does it works for Fuji XT30 ?
Yes
