    Informative video Cliff, we've had our 437PS in some shallow water on the Yellowstone here in Montana, it handled it like a champ. Besides making great inflatable boats, another thing worth mentioning is the wonderful customer service the folks at Sea Eagle provide. Definitely a great company to do business with!

      @@SteveSherman-jp1dz Believe me I'm no Karen. You know new kayakers watch this channel for all the information Cliff gives, and seeing people who don't follow the safety code when on the water could make them think you don't need a PFD , and let's be honest it's the most important bit of kit when on the water ANY WATER. Cliff knows this that's why he had one on.
      Anything can happen when you're on the water so it's better to be safe than sorry.
      And always wear a PFD or Life jacket.
      Having one on at all times when you paddle stops you from having to make the decision, do I need it today.

      @SteveSherman-jp1dz hey, easy on river rat, he is my buddy across the pond and is an excellent kayaker!
      I was a competitive swimmer for 12 years, I've lived my entire 58 years on the water. Very comfortable with water. That being said, as a big RUclips kayaking channel, I have a responsibility to always adventure in the safest way possible. There are too many people that get out there and think they are comfortable, but when it comes down to it, they are not and they drown. The river I was on in this video was most of the time ankle to shin deep. Several times it was deep over your head as you went over a large swimming holes. I have seen dead people plucked out of the water, because they did not understand the dangers that they faced. Better for me to take the highroad and set an example for all to follow, and hopefully save lives.

    So far I've always used the skeg...will try it without on the next inland lake trip.

      @KayakCliff  2 месяца назад +2

      Thanks for watching and commenting! Give it a try, I prefer how the RazorLite is a bit more playful without the skeg. If you have ever "edged" to turn in a kayak, you will find that the RazorLite edges perfectly. Meaning, you lean right and the boat will turn left without having to use a paddle stroke. Same for leaning left, and having the boat turn right!

      @@KayakCliff I currently own a competitors fishing inflatable, and the EZLite 10. Leaning more toward the 380X, as it likely checks more boxes for us. Would be a great tandem boat and i could still use it for fishing. And i know from another channel of it's ability to handle white water. With things starting to "shut down" for the season here in the Midwest, i likely won't make a move until after the Holidays. Unless of course they come up with a too good to pass up sale.😉😉

    Hey Cliff. Would be awesome if you could do a recommendation/review video on battery pumps. There are a lot on the market. I'd love to get one for my razorlite, but they all seem rather bulky and overkill.

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  2 месяца назад

      Thanks so much for the suggestion! I have two Sea Eagle pumps which are made by others, but sold by Sea Eagle. When you are dealing with a drop stitch kayak, you need the stronger pumps. The new Mega pump from Sea Eagle is really nice, it pumps up the RazorLite in like 3 minutes. It can do like 6-8 kayaks in a row on a single charge. Here's the link. I will work on a video this Fall / Winter!

    Cliff, I have been wondering about the SeaEagles on shallow water. I have a 385 FastTrack that I bought early this year and I hunted high and low before I bought it to see if it would work okay in shallow water. Feel much more comfortable about taking it out in some shallow rivers after seeing your video. That was some very pretty scenery.

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  2 месяца назад

      That's great, get out and use it! One thing with the FastTrack, it does not paddle at all without a skeg. For shallow water, I recommend getting the small skeg from Sea Eagle, which will give you some level of tracking performance, so you are not all over the place. I also live in an apartment (in downtown vancouver). I bought a razorlite last year and take it out all the time from the marina. Such a nice boat and ideal for those of us with limited storage.. I bought a collapsible trolley from Home Depot for $90 with is perfect for carrying it. I just throw it in the back of the boat when i go out. At 35 pounds, carrying it using only the backpack is hard work.

    • @KayakCliff
      @KayakCliff  2 месяца назад

      Great question, you can get in real skinny water with the paddle ski, you just will not be able to use a motor though. As long as you had current / wind working in your favor, it would not be so bad to paddle. A little electric trolling motor would allow you to navigate the deeper parts when possible.

      You are right, that is a beautiful river. It was the New River, which originates in the Boone / Blowing Rock area of NC. I fear that most everything in that area experienced a lot of destruction. I'm so saddened by what has happened up in my beautiful blue ridge mountains. In the RazorLite in this video, I use a 230cm. In the 380X Explorer, I use a 245-250cm paddle. That is the size that Sea Eagle ships with the Explorers, you need a longer paddle for the wider Explorer
