Fantastic video as always Chris. You have taught me a ton! I've used the Axis door phones (as well as their access control boxes) and I have mixed feelings about them. I love the build quality, the support, and the feature set but I really don't like the price and how complicated they are to set up. I just think they're overly complicated and sometimes buggy. I JUST finished vetting the Grandstream GDS3710 video door system and I'm blown away. At a street price of $270, the build quality, feature set, and support are unbelievable. I highly encourage you to take a serious look at it. Similar to you, this is the only Grandstream product I'm currently enamored with. The Axis A8207-VE is the best apples-to-apples product I've found but cost 5 times as much. Would love to see you do a video on the GDS3710!
I'd love to see a comparison to cheaper model door entry systems. I always see them on amazon for a couple hundred dollars, at the most, and always wanted to get one to play around with. I never knew just how expensive a real system is. This video is really informative, and look forward to future ones.
It’s the warranty. As my company is in the low voltage industry and an Axis Communications channel partner. Most cheap doorbells only have a 1 year warranty and good luck getting a hold of someone for technical support. All Axis Communications devices come with a 3 year warranty with options to extend them to 5 years and has amazing technical support. The reason why it’s $799 MSRP is because the TCO (total cost of ownership) is less in the long run because it’s build quality and performance.
Great video! We are using that same setup. It was working great for a couple years and all of a sudden video stopped working. Audio and DTMF still works. If I move the phone receiving video to a remote network video works. Any suggestions? SIP ALG is disabled.
I strongly recommend that folks reach out to qualified providers whenever implementing access control. For starters, many states require specific licensing to sell and install this. Second, there are many security implications that must be taken into account when designing and spec'ing a solution that are far beyond the scope of a video like this. Physical security, door fitment, and selecting the correct application are just a few of them. There is a reason that access control is a specialty field unto itself. If not implemented correctly, or if installed poorly, these systems can actually make illegal entry even easier than having none at all.
Hi, very good video. I have those equipment. AXIS A8105-E and Phone Yealink T58W with camera. All connected toe a cloud PBX. It's working fine (ringing ok, door opening ok), but I cannot see the door video on the phone. An idea where the problem could be ? Thanks in advance.
I found out what the setting problem was. In the VoIP under SIP Settings, the Video direction setting should be "send and receive" and not "only send" as it was when not working.
Sorry by friend I think the Grandsteam gds3710 Door phone is a better option: 1. Has Full keypad, so you can enter codes to unlock the door strike, or dial phone numbers 2. Has RFID Keyfob reader for quick access 3. Supports Weigard comms for RFID signalling. 4. Has HD Camera. You can also configure it for a NVR security system. 5. GDS3710 is about $280 or a fraction of Axis SIP video phones. 6. Works with Asterisk. Bottom line GDS3710 does more for less! www.grandstream.com/products/physical-security/facility-access-systems/product/gds3710 yeah, I know you don't like it because it does not fully work with FreePBX, but perhaps some of your channel subscribers don't use FreePBX. Hope this was useful to someone!
So, what are the best door phones? I read a lot on ipcamtalk, where tests did not go well integrating with Blue Iris... it was clunky at best. So, Axis money and cheaper what products are truly compelling? I installed a Nortel Compact ICS in the mid 1990s. No video but it would ring all extensions and CID would show it was the door. Has anyone worked with or remember that product???
Hi, For almost 5 years i am following your video and getting lots of values from your videos, and now i have a question,Would like to know, i have the Axis I8016-LVE setup as the door phone, and Yealink T58A as a recipient, the momemt i press the button the call is generated to T58A, if no answer the call will forwarded to iphone Soft phone. The Problem is the moment i press the button, the video is not coming to Yealink T58A,and after playing around with Axis Web Console to accept receiving calls. If i call from T58A to Axis, the video is showing, whereas from Axis to T58A, no videos showing. What could be the issue.
I have the same issue you are having... it only shows the video when calling from phone to doorbell did you figure out the issue ? @CrosstalkSolutions any idea?
Does anyone know if CISCO has a cordless phone option that could be implemented into this system? I'd like a handset that could show video when someone hits the doorbell.
pretty sure that little white unit is really just a hik vision door bell, that model is 100% unsable at night due to the 110% IR glare. can also be flashed to Hik Vision firmware in most cases. uniden has one for like $80-$90 on amazon.
You ... with this response. Been 2 years and no one answered your "encryption" message. You think you can really encrypt voice when Bush sent forth the bill for the NSA to capture all voice data? Im sure you can see now that you can spend countless of dollars "THINKING" you encrypted your voice (so no one can listen in) in and out, meanwhile, every provider submits and pays their FUSF fees
Not that I’ve seen. The connection has to be established before H264 kicks in. You can however monitor that camera all the time with RTSP or their VMS software. It’s basically just like any other surveillance camera.
That this doesn’t work is my main problem with these sip based door solutions like this (I personally have experience with an older one from mobotix). A proper door intercom system will show the video immediately once the bell is rung, because often if you know who is outside you just want to open and not talk. As long as this is not possible, this is unfortunately not a real door intercom system :-(
@@MustermannAnybody I believe the GrandStream will do a video preview while the phone is ringing. Unfortunately I am traveling & I don't recall. That said, I am not sure if the preview is available with multiple phones (in a ring group). I think there is a app for the GXV Video grandstream phone that lets you monitor the video all the time (as if the phone was a video display). The downside for Grandstream is that its not fully compatible with FreePBX. I use Asterisk & I have not run into any major issues.
Great video, Chris! Thank you. That said, is there a a video door access control system you'd recommend that doesn't cost >$700? I'm sure Axis stuff is awesome, but like their crazy expensive IP Speaker, they are out of the price range or a lot of folks in the SOHO, SMB, or similar space.
Ok, I live in a rural area where we’ll be doing a solar powered gate/nanostation/uvcg3pro setup .5 miles away from the home. We have no phone service or PBX. Is there a way to do video/keypad/access gate control over IP? Can’t seem to find a good up solution.
These can be configured to not need the dtmf from the inside...programmed on a key. Technically, the staff wouldn’t even need to know what it is as long as they just have a button to hit.
The UniFi line is proprietary. It doesn't support SIP as far as I'm aware. The G4 does use H.264, but the Access system relies on their app to control relays.
I would really see you giving the Grandstream GDS3710 a try. It has an all-metal sturdy housing.
I use Fanvil i32v and i31s video sip h.264 intercoms; they are much cheaper but they're also super reliable and they're a lot less expensive.

I just came down here to post the same question about Grandstream PBX systems.
Excellent presentation! Is the camera always on (A8105-E) or only when button activated? Also, can button work activate 12v door bell in additon?

HI GReat video, do you know if this would work with a RING video doorbell
Also, I’m building two wooden gates on my property, could you see having a special keypad or door phone integration. Like to let the yard man in?
How do you get this video feed on your phone using the Axis Companion app? We had it before but it stopped working.
hey Chris , how about a video on wirelss video door access

is it possible to setup peer to peer SIP from A8105e to 1 SIP phone, without create a PBX account?
