*This is a lore post, a long one too for any who would like to learn more of the Warmongers. Gathered from my own notes taken and the For Honor Wiki.* For those unaware of the current lore. The Warmonger, the Characters name is Astrea. Leader of Order of Horkos and claimed to be the reincarnation of Apollyon. For those wondering on who the Order of Horkos is, they are a new cult made of former Blackstones and other warriors who want to see more war. There are 4 known members at the moment, Astrea, Syntribos, Smaragos, and Asbetos. In Greek mythology, *Astrea* is a daughter of Astraeus and Eos. She is the virgin goddess of justice, innocence, purity and precision. According to myth, she will come down to earth to bring the return of the utopian Golden Age of which she was the ambassador. The three other Warmongers are named after three of five *Daemones Ceramici*, five malevolent spirits who plagued the craftsman potter. Their name respectively translate to in Greek as "the Shatterer," "the Smasher," and "the Charrer."(This aligns with how Apollyon's name in Greek means "the Destroyer" which is also the translation of one of the five Daemones Ceramici's name: Sabaktes.) Their origins is Heathmoor, they have been doing covert actions the last few seasons prior to the "Tyranny" season. Season of Hope was a setup, as they were getting ready to launch their invasions. When peace came to Heathmoor and the Honor Games began, there were dissenters who detested the quietness and lack of violence. The ex-Blackstones returned to Heathmoor with their Wu Lin allies, renaming themselves as the Order of Horkos during the latter part of the Honor Games. The dissenters found purpose under the Order of Horkos, becoming spies for them. As a result, the Horkos had spies in every faction, and were able to start their plans for Tyranny. The Order of Horkos' believe in a deity named Horkos. Their main mission in For Honor is to weed out the liars, impostors and hypocrites of the world. They focus a lot on alchemy..that is why they even have their own execution, where they throw acid on the enemies face. Not much is known about the Horkos, when Apoyllon fell the worst of the remaining Blackstone were ostracized and went East where the Wu Lin civil war was ongoing. They would take advantage of the situation there and make new allies. Later on, the Blackstone members would attack Qiang Pass to try and steal the secret weapon from Sun Da and the Wu Lin Emperor. Although they failed to get their hands on the weapon, they had done their damage on the Wu Lin force in Heathmoor. After, possibly due to having been cursed by the weapon when the Pass was decimated, the Blackstone turned to alchemy as their main source. *Some Side Notes:* The Warmonger's emote where she holds a piece of ore in her hand is called *Draconite*, a special ore that spread corruption around the world. This may be based off the mythical gemstone of the same name which is said to be taken from the head of a dragon and believed to have magical properties In Greek mythology, "Horkos" (Ὅρκος; lit. "oath") is a figure that is the personification of the curse that will be inflicted on anyone who swears a false oath. This concept can be taken as the Order of Horkos consisting of members who have claimed to swear peace under the new age of Hope seen in Year 4 Season 1, but in actually do not believe in that peace. It may also be meant to be an assertion to everyone else, as the Horkos believe everyone wants war, lying about wanting peace. This may be supported by how, while the leaders of Wyverndale sought for peace, they don't actually trust each other (as seen in the orders for the Metal Trials). Syntribos and Asbetos take on the look of warriors seen in the season's starting cinematic and starting screen illustration. Oddly enough, Asbetos does not wear the Asbetos armor set. Instead, Smaragos wears the alternate version of the armor set. As noted above, Asbetos instead wears the Sabaktes armor set. The quotes for the Event Order are derivatives of popular quotes, spinning them in a sinister manner: "We are an idea. Ideas can't be killed." is a common derivative of the concept of how people can die, but ideas will live on. Typically used in a setting of revolution and uprising against oppression. ""War is the only cure." is a derivative of the common saying "XXX is the only cure" which usually recites "Hope is the only cure." or "Death is the only cure." *Thank you if you read this far. Im super late but: I think one of the main reason they are not coming back is because how slow they are, they look cool but it makes you spend a lot of time in one minion, so cleaning minions becomes slower. _Also at this point they probably don't want to make animations for the heroes that where released after they where removed because, well, ubi_

She doesn't just speak english. The language she speaks, is whatever your language is set to. The lore explanation is because Her faction wants to recruit as many people as possible.
It’s a good thing I don’t play breach. Warmonger is basically the “No one hits the commander” and also the “no one protects the commander” hero all in one.
Honestly, I'm speaking for myself about the genderlock thing. I just like playing as a dude, because of: A).Big boi muscles and a substantial size difference that I just, well, enjoy having in my character. I'm that kind of guy, don't judge me. B). I'm a guy. I'm obviously leaning to use a guy instead of a girl in a game. But that's not stopping me from getting warmom anyways, after all, is just a little problem I have, against all of the top tier shit she got. On the other hand, Devs should give the apparence tweak to all heroes, so players can have new fashion options for their favorite heroes.

It’s less about practicality and more about how much of a zealot she is and how much she truly believes in her philosophy of how the strong feed off the weak which gives her the incentive to learn all about the other regions to appeal to them

Some factions have 'joined' the Horcus while still fighting for their faction. Basing that the Warmongers are English speakers primarily, some may have learned english or vise versa. Still the point is, why learn a different language when you can instill a threat upon someone who may already know that native language. They want War, so why not send a messenger with a head?

I just installed this game on a whim (I got the For Honor Starter Edition for free and never installed it) Warmonger is the first hero I unlocked after seeing her shank that Warden on the menu and seeing Apollyon, and I'm STOKED to play her. I've been playing against bots because I don't want to wait on matches and I don't want to let anyone down, so I keep to myself, but so far, I like the game.
Absolutely love Warmonger, she just feels easier to use and the combos and stam bar make it easier to overwhelm a person that isn't fully expecting your moves, not only that, but the feats make it easier to get payback against gankers. Edit: Dont know why, but since her nerf she seems stupidly slow and clunky now instead of her old fast self for some reason...not sure if its just me.
Misinformation! They specifically said they wouldnt make any gender locked heroes during the entirety of YEAR 3, and only year 3. Its a common misconception, but they never mentioned genderlocking post year 3.
Still a pretty dickish thing to do, why not make all characters both genders. I wanna play female Highlander or female Aramusha and Make Warmonger and male Peacekeeper, also think about it, FEMALE CEEEEENT!
@@FennKitFox fun? will it be fun when you're on the receiving end of this feat? from what I've seen, that covid feat can take away more than half you're health bar in an instant if you're in a group of minions and there is nothing you can do aside from run, this means that you need to leave the objective and let the hand me down appolyon have her fun with the minions. this character is borked beyond belief, from her feats to her move set and I have to say that I disagree with most of what Marco yolo says. I feel like he's trying to sell this character to us as being "fun" rather than admitting that the character is so unbalanced that the toxicity level will be off the charts on release. there are some good points that Marco yolo makes, but I still disagree with the majority of what he says because he's sounding more like a tlou2 game journo rather than a youtuber giving us an honest opinion. this character is fucked and the next month is going to be like the first few weeks of the centurion release, except even more unfair. can't even dodge her dash top attack.

Or or least for people who enjoy this kind of 'uniqueness'. If Ubi would be really as bad as most people say, then why are people playing Ubi's games? The AC franchise, Rayman, R6, For Honor, etc. are really good games and they are doing their best. If you think that their job is easy, developing a REALLY complex game, with the constant pressure from the customers, then why don't you make your own game, your own company? Plus, if Ubi is incompetent and popular from making bad decisions, etc. Then why are you buying their game? If you know that Ubi is Ubi, then why are you buying their game only to be disappointed? That's my opinion for the typical "UBI BAD" comments and 'criticism'. If you really to improve, then send out constructive criticism, like in the testing grounds. If you cannot do something, suddenly your entire opinion is null and void because it's hard to do? Bullshit. Its their job that they have worked years to get to, and its okay to judge their work as a consumer so long as this judgement is fair. Now, as for the criticism you so dearly want to hear, it is as follows: - Warmonger's feats are a great example of the devs incompetence when it comes to balancing them as a whole. For one, they nerfed tons of feats to the ground over the games lifespan while leaving other, blatantly overpowered ones untouched. Then, with warmonger, they introduce a set of incredibly powerful feats which not only are strong, they go against the 4v4 aspect of dominion in a very glaring way. They force 1v1s without any real difficulty in doing so. This is bad balance. Ill happily laugh at any counterarguments to my statement. Keep in mind, we have this, but at the same time Hitokiri's tier 4 is far weaker for no real reason, and catapult has been gutted while spear storm has barely been touched. - This piggy backs onto how bad they are with balancing heroes. Since his conception, Orochi has simply been bad. In fact, they made him even worse with the latest patch. Hopefully this gets fixed. Weve had plenty of characters who havent received the buffs or reworks theyve needed, and as such, weve had a very stagnant meta where the top and bottom tiers barely change. I wont pretend the devs HAVENT balanced well ever, but they have supported a stagnant meta by rarely changing heroes who need it. Along with this, we have seen a multitude of changes that seem only to serve the lowest tiers of the playerbase while damaging the community at large. Orochi, for example, had his lights nerfed while other characters kept their fast lights. Orochi is an easy character to reference due to how poor hes been handled, but I can also point towards Shinobi who was gutted when he needed a complete rework, Hitokiri who was nerfed despite not needing it (and in ways that didnt address anything important anyways), and Shugoki who barely has a place in 4s and is garbage in duels. All this while we now have busted Centurion with incredibly strong ganks, Shaman who has been far too good in ganks for awhile, and the turtling nature of Lawbringer never being addressed despite the devs claims to be against turtling. There are more things, but my fingers are tired lmao P.s I love For Honor and want to see it get better, instead weve gotten a polarizing set of changes which improved the game in some aspects while fucking it in others. Im going to judge them because this game is unique, and to become better, the devs need to be aware of how their community receives their changes. Being an apologist is okay, but you need to be fair and point out their faults as well

I love this new hero, and I love that we finally get Apollyon’s armor. Also I’m torn about the voiceline thing. On one end I really like the way her English voicelines sound, but the other part of me does find it a bit strange that she doesn’t speak Latin like the other knights. Tbh, I don’t care that much tho. She’s fun. Period. And her wardrobe is 👌👍
@@JahnDavis2734 Im pretty sure there arent many "Latin speaking VA" out there anyways since nobody really knows for sure how to speak it. You just need a latin dictionary, translate their voicelines and give it to the VA. Making her speak latin really isnt much work at all, maybe a few hours extra to make the translations sound cool. I mean the literal translation to "enough sheep" would be something along the lines of "Satis oves" which doesnt really sound that threatening tbh So I really doubt it has anything to do with laziness or the budget. They probably wanted to set her apart from the knight faction because she technically isnt a part of them. That said I find the choice really really weird.
For anyone that was interested like I was theres is actually a reason listed on the wiki as to why she speaks English its because warmongers dont care about factions they just want to keep the war going and as such are willing to speak whatever language necessary in this being the user's chosen language
10:11 yep this is the fact that everyone previously were concerned about that if all warmongers would use this feat and it wouldn't affect their allies but it does so it is kinda balanced in this way so we may see how it plays it on breach later
Warmonger speaks English because in the lore, everyone, including wu-lin, all speak english, as shown in Story Mode, also when revived, Wu-Lin speak english, so if Astrea wants to recruit people for the Order of Horkos, she'll need to speak the main language, english.
I love everything about the new hero: Her weapon, the ties to the story, and most importantly, the way she was introduced. As a highlander main, I don't mind the genderlock and I can reluctantly look past the english VA. But the lack of unique animations is a huge deal breaker to me. Not only does this cause in-game readability issues in the heat of battle, but also some of the reused animations, especially the one handed ones, really don't do the zweihander justice. It always felt like they explored new and unique ways to animate a character with a new weapon, except this time it feels like they did the opposite and patched in pre-existing animation and hoped it somewhat worked with the weapon instead. It also sets a pretty disturbing precedent of demanding the same amount of money for content that is half recycled. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but since there is new Mo-Cap executions etc, it's hard to believe it. If they get the proper funding to give her an animation makeover some time in the future, I will be very happy! (Goes without saying that I don't mind Apolleon's animations being re-used, though in theory they can remake even those). I think I will say what I said when I say the first of the three Star Wars sequels: I have some concerns, but the follow up will ultimately determine my stance. In the case of Star Wars, it killed my faith in the franchise all together. If the next For Honor hero follows the same ideals of the previous ones, and isn't a half recycled hero, then I will be totally fine with Warmonger being a one of case. The "Akuma" if you will. Otherwise, I will be severely disappointed.
I share this stance, I think everyone should voice their concern and never take a neutral "i dont care" stance. If ubisoft receives no backlash they will continue to cut corners. Marco (no hate) used Covid as an excuse for the animations, but the hero was finished pre corona, so the use of recycled animations was a conscious decison and not a last minute desperate measure. Hope the next hero is 110% original!
My time as a Warden Main is over, it is time to become EDGY, Black Prior and Warmonger are gonna be my mains for my Dark Crusade. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna whip out my wallet, my Powerwolf playlist, and start my Crusade.
Kinda disappointed that she is genderlocked. I really wished we could have a male hero in full plate armor to push the chivalry to levels never reached before, but whatever. I was gonna make a female version anyway, a Joan of Arc rip-off most likely. But even then it's the voice lines in english that are a problem. It doesn't really fit Joan of Arc to wage war for the sake of it and calling her adversaries sheeps (even if she probably didn't think much good of the english in her time), so latin would have been better because everything sounds cooler and less psycho-ish in latin.
Design-wise its a clusterfuck. Swings sword like a bat, has claws (lmao the edge) and tries too hard to be savage or something with armor going into complete and utter bitch fantasy. Rip jolly grumpy colorful landsknecht-like zweihander user with stiped flamboyant clothes mixed with plate the community wished for.
Maurice Anderson well for honor has never been about realism but she does look a little too over the top and her fighting style makes so little sense it looks like the one of Kylo Ren And is more about her emotions. Like at least she could hold that zweihander which literally means “two hands” or “double handed” can’t remember with two hands
Good video Marco! I full heartedly agree about the whole animation and Genderlock issue. I can say along with a whole bunch of other peeps that we've wanted an Apollyon like character, now everyone is whining that we got one. The whole Genderlock argument for this character is dumb when you consider that you're not whining about other characters being genderlocked (Centurion, Warlord, Nobushi, etc). If you're going to complain about this one, why not go for past heroes to fix first?
The reason people are bitching is because a.) The genderlocking of other heroes made sense, such as Centurion and Shaman, and b.) the game introduced a character with very good looking Gothic armor but it's for a woman only. To Knight players who were hoping for some proper plate to their characters or a new hero that allowed for maximum roleplaying, this feels like a kick to the balls and snatch.

Though at that point might as well argue that it's a Lawbringer eh? Although I still think that people should more so focus on the older characters. Just got warmama yesterday and I must say while yes, she is a lit bit broke but every new character that comes out usually is. I personally refuse to make my warmonger look like apollyon and I sworn to hunt any apollyon looking warmonger. Enjoyed the video marco.

*This is a lore post, a long one too for any who would like to learn more of the Warmongers. Gathered from my own notes taken and the For Honor Wiki.*
For those unaware of the current lore. The Warmonger, the Characters name is Astrea. Leader of Order of Horkos and claimed to be the reincarnation of Apollyon. For those wondering on who the Order of Horkos is, they are a new cult made of former Blackstones and other warriors who want to see more war. There are 4 known members at the moment, Astrea, Syntribos, Smaragos, and Asbetos. In Greek mythology, *Astrea* is a daughter of Astraeus and Eos. She is the virgin goddess of justice, innocence, purity and precision. According to myth, she will come down to earth to bring the return of the utopian Golden Age of which she was the ambassador. The three other Warmongers are named after three of five *Daemones Ceramici*, five malevolent spirits who plagued the craftsman potter. Their name respectively translate to in Greek as "the Shatterer," "the Smasher," and "the Charrer."(This aligns with how Apollyon's name in Greek means "the Destroyer" which is also the translation of one of the five Daemones Ceramici's name: Sabaktes.)
Their origins is Heathmoor, they have been doing covert actions the last few seasons prior to the "Tyranny" season. Season of Hope was a setup, as they were getting ready to launch their invasions. When peace came to Heathmoor and the Honor Games began, there were dissenters who detested the quietness and lack of violence. The ex-Blackstones returned to Heathmoor with their Wu Lin allies, renaming themselves as the Order of Horkos during the latter part of the Honor Games. The dissenters found purpose under the Order of Horkos, becoming spies for them. As a result, the Horkos had spies in every faction, and were able to start their plans for Tyranny.
The Order of Horkos' believe in a deity named Horkos. Their main mission in For Honor is to weed out the liars, impostors and hypocrites of the world. They focus a lot on alchemy..that is why they even have their own execution, where they throw acid on the enemies face.
Not much is known about the Horkos, when Apoyllon fell the worst of the remaining Blackstone were ostracized and went East where the Wu Lin civil war was ongoing. They would take advantage of the situation there and make new allies. Later on, the Blackstone members would attack Qiang Pass to try and steal the secret weapon from Sun Da and the Wu Lin Emperor. Although they failed to get their hands on the weapon, they had done their damage on the Wu Lin force in Heathmoor. After, possibly due to having been cursed by the weapon when the Pass was decimated, the Blackstone turned to alchemy as their main source.
*Some Side Notes:* The Warmonger's emote where she holds a piece of ore in her hand is called *Draconite*, a special ore that spread corruption around the world. This may be based off the mythical gemstone of the same name which is said to be taken from the head of a dragon and believed to have magical properties
In Greek mythology, "Horkos" (Ὅρκος; lit. "oath") is a figure that is the personification of the curse that will be inflicted on anyone who swears a false oath. This concept can be taken as the Order of
Horkos consisting of members who have claimed to swear peace under the new age of Hope seen in Year 4 Season 1, but in actually do not believe in that peace.
It may also be meant to be an assertion to everyone else, as the Horkos believe everyone wants war, lying about wanting peace. This may be supported by how, while the leaders of Wyverndale sought for peace, they don't actually trust each other (as seen in the orders for the Metal Trials).
Syntribos and Asbetos take on the look of warriors seen in the season's starting cinematic and starting screen illustration. Oddly enough, Asbetos does not wear the Asbetos armor set. Instead, Smaragos wears the alternate version of the armor set. As noted above, Asbetos instead wears the Sabaktes armor set.
The quotes for the Event Order are derivatives of popular quotes, spinning them in a sinister manner:
"We are an idea. Ideas can't be killed." is a common derivative of the concept of how people can die, but ideas will live on. Typically used in a setting of revolution and uprising against oppression.
""War is the only cure." is a derivative of the common saying "XXX is the only cure" which usually recites "Hope is the only cure." or "Death is the only cure."

As someone who was rather dissapointed when they made the reveal, I'l say this : A'ight, Marco. You convinced me. She's pretty cool. That Ryu and Akuma analogy was spot on. Thumbs up to you.

Honestly, I'm speaking for myself about the genderlock thing.
I just like playing as a dude, because of:
A).Big boi muscles and a substantial size difference that I just, well, enjoy having in my character. I'm that kind of guy, don't judge me.
B). I'm a guy. I'm obviously leaning to use a guy instead of a girl in a game.
But that's not stopping me from getting warmom anyways, after all, is just a little problem I have, against all of the top tier shit she got.
On the other hand, Devs should give the apparence tweak to all heroes, so players can have new fashion options for their favorite heroes.

That's a Joke, the likely reason is simple. To provoke, but if you really want more onto it. Some factions have 'joined' the Horcus while still fighting for their faction. Basing that the Warmongers are English speakers primarily, some may have learned english or vise versa. Still the point is, why learn a different language when you can instill a threat upon someone who may already know that native language.

I just installed this game on a whim (I got the For Honor Starter Edition for free and never installed it)
Warmonger is the first hero I unlocked after seeing her shank that Warden on the menu and seeing Apollyon, and I'm STOKED to play her.
I've been playing against bots because I don't want to wait on matches and I don't want to let anyone down, so I keep to myself, but so far, I like the game.
So how's is going so far?

Absolutely love Warmonger, she just feels easier to use and the combos and stam bar make it easier to overwhelm a person that isn't fully expecting your moves, not only that, but the feats make it easier to get payback against gankers.
Edit: Dont know why, but since her nerf she seems stupidly slow and clunky now instead of her old fast self for some reason...not sure if its just me.
My only gripe is that warmonger can’t be male AFTER Ubi announced that they would make every next new hero with both genders
Misinformation! They specifically said they wouldnt make any gender locked heroes during the entirety of YEAR 3, and only year 3. Its a common misconception, but they never mentioned genderlocking post year 3.
Still a pretty dickish thing to do, why not make all characters both genders. I wanna play female Highlander or female Aramusha and Make Warmonger and male Peacekeeper, also think about it, FEMALE CEEEEENT!

@@FennKitFox fun? will it be fun when you're on the receiving end of this feat? from what I've seen, that covid feat can take away more than half you're health bar in an instant if you're in a group of minions and there is nothing you can do aside from run, this means that you need to leave the objective and let the hand me down appolyon have her fun with the minions. this character is borked beyond belief, from her feats to her move set and I have to say that I disagree with most of what Marco yolo says. I feel like he's trying to sell this character to us as being "fun" rather than admitting that the character is so unbalanced that the toxicity level will be off the charts on release.
there are some good points that Marco yolo makes, but I still disagree with the majority of what he says because he's sounding more like a tlou2 game journo rather than a youtuber giving us an honest opinion. this character is fucked and the next month is going to be like the first few weeks of the centurion release, except even more unfair. can't even dodge her dash top attack.

If Ubi would be really as bad as most people say, then why are people playing Ubi's games? The AC franchise, Rayman, R6, For Honor, etc. are really good games and they are doing their best. If you think that their job is easy, developing a REALLY complex game, with the constant pressure from the customers, then why don't you make your own game, your own company? Plus, if Ubi is incompetent and popular from making bad decisions, etc. Then why are you buying their game? If you know that Ubi is Ubi, then why are you buying their game only to be disappointed?
That's my opinion for the typical "UBI BAD" comments and 'criticism'.
If you really to improve, then send out constructive criticism, like in the testing grounds. I know, that making this comment will not affect anybody, but I will share this nonetheless.

Pretending the simple fact that people play Ubisofts games makes them good reeks of a good ol fallacy. The AC franchise is one of the worst franchises out there imo, Rayman Ive heard many good things about and enjoyed some of the games to a degree, R6 is pretty great, and For Honor is a game I thoroughly enjoy...but get this, they all receive varying levels of support and are made by wholly different individuals! Were focusing on For Honor here, fella. Furthermore, "if you think they do it bad, then do it yourself" is the dumbest response to the criticism of a game, dude. If you cannot do something, suddenly your entire opinion is null and void because it's hard to do? Bullshit. Its their job that they have worked years to get to, and its okay to judge their work as a consumer so long as this judgement is fair.
Now, as for the criticism you so dearly want to hear, it is as follows:
- Warmonger's feats are a great example of the devs incompetence when it comes to balancing them as a whole. For one, they nerfed tons of feats to the ground over the games lifespan while leaving other, blatantly overpowered ones untouched. Then, with warmonger, they introduce a set of incredibly powerful feats which not only are strong, they go against the 4v4 aspect of dominion in a very glaring way. They force 1v1s without any real difficulty in doing so. This is bad balance. Ill happily laugh at any counterarguments to my statement. Keep in mind, we have this, but at the same time Hitokiri's tier 4 is far weaker for no real reason, and catapult has been gutted while spear storm has barely been touched.
- This piggy backs onto how bad they are with balancing heroes. Since his conception, Orochi has simply been bad. In fact, they made him even worse with the latest patch. Hopefully this gets fixed. Weve had plenty of characters who havent received the buffs or reworks theyve needed, and as such, weve had a very stagnant meta where the top and bottom tiers barely change. I wont pretend the devs HAVENT balanced well ever, but they have supported a stagnant meta by rarely changing heroes who need it. Along with this, we have seen a multitude of changes that seem only to serve the lowest tiers of the playerbase while damaging the community at large. Orochi, for example, had his lights nerfed while other characters kept their fast lights. Orochi is an easy character to reference due to how poor hes been handled, but I can also point towards Shinobi who was gutted when he needed a complete rework, Hitokiri who was nerfed despite not needing it (and in ways that didnt address anything important anyways), and Shugoki who barely has a place in 4s and is garbage in duels. All this while we now have busted Centurion with incredibly strong ganks, Shaman who has been far too good in ganks for awhile, and the turtling nature of Lawbringer never being addressed despite the devs claims to be against turtling.
There are more things, but my fingers are tired lmao
P.s I love For Honor and want to see it get better, instead weve gotten a polarizing set of changes which improved the game in some aspects while fucking it in others. Im going to judge them because this game is unique, and to become better, the devs need to be aware of how their community receives their changes. Being an apologist is okay, but you need to be fair and point out their faults as well

Also I’m torn about the voiceline thing. On one end I really like the way her English voicelines sound, but the other part of me does find it a bit strange that she doesn’t speak Latin like the other knights. Tbh, I don’t care that much tho. She’s fun. Period. And her wardrobe is 👌👍

@@JahnDavis2734 Im pretty sure there arent many "Latin speaking VA" out there anyways since nobody really knows for sure how to speak it. You just need a latin dictionary, translate their voicelines and give it to the VA. Making her speak latin really isnt much work at all, maybe a few hours extra to make the translations sound cool.
I mean the literal translation to "enough sheep" would be something along the lines of "Satis oves" which doesnt really sound that threatening tbh
So I really doubt it has anything to do with laziness or the budget. They probably wanted to set her apart from the knight faction because she technically isnt a part of them. That said I find the choice really really weird.
For anyone that was interested like I was theres is actually a reason listed on the wiki as to why she speaks English its because warmongers dont care about factions they just want to keep the war going and as such are willing to speak whatever language necessary in this being the user's chosen language

Warmonger speaks English because in the lore, everyone, including wu-lin, all speak english, as shown in Story Mode, also when revived, Wu-Lin speak english, so if Astrea wants to recruit people for the Order of Horkos, she'll need to speak the main language, english.

I love everything about the new hero: Her weapon, the ties to the story, and most importantly, the way she was introduced. As a highlander main, I don't mind the genderlock and I can reluctantly look past the english VA. But the lack of unique animations is a huge deal breaker to me. Not only does this cause in-game readability issues in the heat of battle, but also some of the reused animations, especially the one handed ones, really don't do the zweihander justice. It always felt like they explored new and unique ways to animate a character with a new weapon, except this time it feels like they did the opposite and patched in pre-existing animation and hoped it somewhat worked with the weapon instead. It also sets a pretty disturbing precedent of demanding the same amount of money for content that is half recycled. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but since there is new Mo-Cap executions etc, it's hard to believe it. If they get the proper funding to give her an animation makeover some time in the future, I will be very happy! (Goes without saying that I don't mind Apolleon's animations being re-used, though in theory they can remake even those).
I think I will say what I said when I say the first of the three Star Wars sequels: I have some concerns, but the follow up will ultimately determine my stance. In the case of Star Wars, it killed my faith in the franchise all together. If the next For Honor hero follows the same ideals of the previous ones, and isn't a half recycled hero, then I will be totally fine with Warmonger being a one of case. The "Akuma" if you will. Otherwise, I will be severely disappointed.

I share this stance, I think everyone should voice their concern and never take a neutral "i dont care" stance. If ubisoft receives no backlash they will continue to cut corners. Marco (no hate) used Covid as an excuse for the animations, but the hero was finished pre corona, so the use of recycled animations was a conscious decison and not a last minute desperate measure.
Hope the next hero is 110% original!

Kinda disappointed that she is genderlocked. I really wished we could have a male hero in full plate armor to push the chivalry to levels never reached before, but whatever. I was gonna make a female version anyway, a Joan of Arc rip-off most likely. But even then it's the voice lines in english that are a problem. It doesn't really fit Joan of Arc to wage war for the sake of it and calling her adversaries sheeps (even if she probably didn't think much good of the english in her time), so latin would have been better because everything sounds cooler and less psycho-ish in latin.
Design-wise its a clusterfuck. Swings sword like a bat, has claws (lmao the edge) and tries too hard to be savage or something with armor going into complete and utter bitch fantasy.
Rip jolly grumpy colorful landsknecht-like zweihander user with stiped flamboyant clothes mixed with plate the community wished for.

Maurice Anderson well for honor has never been about realism but she does look a little too over the top and her fighting style makes so little sense it looks like the one of Kylo Ren And is more about her emotions. Like at least she could hold that zweihander which literally means “two hands” or “double handed” can’t remember with two hands

Good video Marco! I full heartedly agree about the whole animation and Genderlock issue. I can say along with a whole bunch of other peeps that we've wanted an Apollyon like character, now everyone is whining that we got one. The whole Genderlock argument for this character is dumb when you consider that you're not whining about other characters being genderlocked (Centurion, Warlord, Nobushi, etc). If you're going to complain about this one, why not go for past heroes to fix first?
The reason people are bitching is because a.) The genderlocking of other heroes made sense, such as Centurion and Shaman, and b.) the game introduced a character with very good looking Gothic armor but it's for a woman only. To Knight players who were hoping for some proper plate to their characters or a new hero that allowed for maximum roleplaying, this feels like a kick to the balls and snatch.

Just got warmama yesterday and I must say while yes, she is a lit bit broke but every new character that comes out usually is. I personally refuse to make my warmonger look like apollyon and I sworn to hunt any apollyon looking warmonger. Enjoyed the video marco.
