The entire problem with nami is often the abdomen, stomach area, Hair tired up nami is the first time because her first design I enjoyed how she looked. I like you fixing
So fun fact the whole changing everyone to be busty and slender is because that's apparently what Oda's wife looks like and whole everyone is a clone of Nami thing is because guess who's her favorite character and the first to get this treatment yup Also another fun the literally lore reason some characters can get a massive glow-up or Down is based on there dreams and how much they strive towards it examples are Kobe for the glow-up and Big Mom for the glow-down

@@bobbysmith8095, Wano Robin as well as the Skypiea manga design of Nico Robin are my most favorite character designs of hers, but I’ve never really been a fan of Nico Robin, so I never really had an issue with her Post-Timeskip design.
I absolutely ADORE Vivi's redesign. Every aspect from the slightly hooked nose to the braid to the traditionally inspired outfit. I'm much more fond of this kind of design than the bland pink dress she wears after the timeskip. Tho tbh. I feel like both her and Rebecca's designs were very bland. Not only bland for being princesses, but just plain bland for being in One Piece. It didn't feel like Oda put much thought into it.
Really? Looking at Manga Panels from different years, its not really fading, its just artistic change over the decades. Look at panels when she wants to be part of Luffys Crew after Alabasta, when she shouts "I want to live" , when she fights Black Maria and the "redacted" scene at Egghead. I have a feeling often when people complain about changes and the woman in One Piece, they only watched the Adaptation ie. the Anime and did not read the Manga.
These were some 🔥 redesigns, Hancock looks super ethereal and more believable as the most beautiful woman, I think the snake like features were a great choice. Vivi looks gorgeous, that dress is everything. My favorite redesign is definitely Nami though, it’s just very small things that are changed and they work so perfectly, she looks like she’s going to have a lot of fun!
The fact you changed so little about Robin is what makes me so mad at Oda. Her OG design was soooo good, especially whenever she had a cowboy hat. The square nose, the bangs, the deep black hair and the tan skin really passed off the vibe of a lifetime fugitive and explorer. Her post time skip design is so bland
To be fair to Oda, the tan skin was the animators mistake that they choose to rectify after the time-skip instead of continuing to commit to the new look like they had before. Oda himself didn't whiten her skin overtime.

By that Logic, Usopp shouldn't be so white, as he is based on a South African ethnicity. This one detail derails your entire argument. As far as I know, Japanese people don't have green hair, Indian people aren't fish, Americas aren't cyborgs, and the average Brazilian doesn't look like Luffy. The countries are used as an inspiration for their design, but in the end they ARE NOT from these countries. Robin post time skip has bland hair, clothes that are over sexualized and don't suit her personality, and has the same face as 99.9999% of one piece women. Hell, it's almost impossible to tell her apart from Boa. Her PTS design is horrendous regardless of skin color. She could have been blue for all I care, and it would still suck ass
@@baitreview , 1. The national of O’Hara was supposed to be the One Piece equivalent of Russia before it was destroyed. 2. Alabasta is the One Piece equivalent of Egypt, so the redesign of her in this video is still accurate to her nationality of hers from the anime/manga unlike the rest of people in this video excluding Boa Hancock herself, and 3. If a Japanese male decided to dye their neon green, moss green, or them having their children genetically engineered to have their children having those hair colors they’d still look more like Zoro than the redesigns in this video, so a friend of mine on discord can redesign One Piece characters better than this person.

I love pretty much all of these redesigns but Vivi in particular is just fantastic. You really captured just about everything her design should feature and it looks gorgeous.
A friend of mine recently mused that the issue's with Oda's art in general is that he didn't stick with one style of character design. He could have done the Zolo/Mihawk style of design, or the Alvida, super cartoony design but instead he went with both and it often results in characters that barely look like they belong in the same universe together that something like Dragon Ball, for example, never really suffers from, imo.
I believe that is part of the charm of One Piece as characters can be as varied in terms of design as they can in their respective gags and personalities. My only issues is the women since Oda can and has done multiple body types for attractive male characters but when it comes to making a stunning woman he defaults to the same mold.
@@ThyFloorestFloor i completely agree!! one thing oda can pride himself on is character design. That is just from the way they look, dress, walk, laugh and sound unique and diverse. It is a shame how this diversity is at its full bloom to witness and then with female characters you don't have that. Not even nearly as much. That is a shame. Especially if the chosen mold and same face/body syndrom is freaking accompanied with ecchi, hentai shit.
I don't think I'm the only one who doesn't think it's an issue that he changes styles so much - it just adds more to the world as a show of how interesting and zany it can be. It's serious when it needs to be serious and hits the emotions where they need to hit, but can also be just plain goofy when it needs to be just plain goofy. That's actually a huge strength of the series - that it DOESN'T stay in a fully consistent style.
Love all these, especially Nami and Robin. Robin's in particular is the perfect marriage between her pre and post timeskip looks and I wish we had it in the anime.

THESE ARE SO GOOD AHDBJSJDJJF There’s actual PERSONALITY present, (PARTICULARLY Nami’s, she looks amazing), it is SO refreshing. And they’re PROPORTIONAL too. I forgot how much I missed seeing Robin with a normal boob size and face. 😭
Outside of Alvida's design that can easily fit within the story at any point after her introduction, the rest of the designs are fantastic and can easily become the "after everything is said and done, this are their looks now", the final designs you can say. Nami looks like she lives somewhere peaceful and tends to her tangerines trees. Robin looks so scholastic, like a college teacher. Vivi looks simply majestic. And Boa looks gorgeous, like Vivi, a true royal. Props to you, amazing designs.
Oh my god you nailed all of these. I adore how all of them as a good amount of faithful, just further expressing their identities and who they are. Perfect.
So, good first. Nami and Robin, fantastic. I can definitely see Nami and Robin wearing those in the series, on a color spread if nothing else. Your redesign of Boa's dress is, I think, superior to the original. Alvida and Vivi, very nice, I like it. The less good. It is my sad duty to inform you that while the style is very nice, it is much more Disney than One Piece. Like I said, it's not bad, it just looks more Disney to me than One Piece. Also, as much as I like Vivi's dress, it looks too much like a wedding dress, especially with the veil. Also, I suspect the reason the dress looks vaguely Roman is because Egypt was occupied by Rome for some time and Alabasta has very strong Egypt influences. The one thing I would suggest is that Boa looks more spider-like than snake-like to me. A lot more curve than angle in the arms and a bit deeper sway to the hip would probably take care of that. Also, for how a plus size person who doesn't look ridiculous, I would point you to, and just hear me out, Senior Pink. Most of him looks completely ridiculous, but his torso is about as normal as plus size One Piece gets. All that, it was quite enjoyable to watch you work.
You’re not the first person to tell me Vivi was starting to look Disney style, my own style came out too much because I wasn’t as focused as replicating the One Piece style as I was Nami and Robin. Also, had not thought about Senior Pink because I was only focusing on the female characters but that’s actually a really good reference for the style lol. I’m gonna pocket that if I revisit these designs. Thanks for the feedback!
As a one piece fan I don’t mind these design changes. Every new arc the strawhats get outfit changes and this video just feels like a new arc. Good job I like them.
Really like your thought process. I’m not sure how Robin would work better but I think the others work pretty well. Maybe you could try Cindry, Viola And Pudding?
Honestly some of the one piece character's outfits are decent, and the characters themselves, it's just the ANATOMY. Dear GOD the anatomy. I swear the show would be a THOUSAND times better if the anatomy wasn't atrocious and absolutely, utterly unbelievable. Other than that, it's an okay show, in my opinion. Your redesigns were spectacular, btw. Loves the way you drew each and every one of them ❤️
I really like your video ! It's a fresh hair compared to other ones ! I think what I like the most about Robin post time skip design is how well it goes with her personnality. Before she was more introverted and serious and after time skip she is smiling so much more and is overall so bright we can see more of her uhinged joke or how she is so much more comfortable with everyone, before she had more of an aunt vibe and now she is more of a big sister (the smile she does in the 24 op literally make my heart beats and my legs shaking lol). I also like the fact that they kept her more darker style (like her kimono in wano)
I think you did Alvida pretty well, I also agree with every thought you had in terms of handling the live-action and times changing and all. To me, she kind of looks like Amethyst from Steven Universe. Which, character-wise and even looks-wise, is not too far off. Both are more chubby women who can brawl and fight well. I also had to laugh out loud when you said such body types on "normal" looking characters don't exist, because, yeah, body diversity in One Piece is extremely high, but at the same time, the show is so limited in the designs for women, it's hilarious. One thing I want to especially compliment: I love Vivi's nose, all the designs are great, but that is a very, very neat detail, imo!
I haven't read or watched one piece, but this entire time I thought that Boa and Robin were the same person, that's how same-y these character designs are
Zoro, White Beard, and Rayleigh all have the exact same body type as each other, yet you don’t ever see the male fans complaining on how they share the exact same body type as each other.
The fact you haven’t read or watched it is why. Maybe involve yourself with the media before fucking complaining about a mangaka’s art style. They have one fucking week to get 16-18 pages out. No. Less than that. Not a one time youtuber with no time limit and only draws one fucking image. It took them 7 hrs. Try imagining how it feels for a mangaka with probably a 5 day deadline.
@@RoronoaZoro-ur6hr I have read One Piece manga for 12 years and don't complain about character design but you are so wrong here that I must point this out. So you took 3 muscular male characters that look really really different from each other and said none of us males care about them all being muscular(same body type). You are never getting those three confused with each other due to their unique features. Changing Zoro's hair color to black doesn't make him look like anyone but Zoro. Whitebeard moustache is unique and Rayleigh has distinct beard even when he was younger. That is not even close to how similar Rebecca, Nami, Post-TS Robin, Vivi faces looks. I don't see how people can get Boa confused because no on else has that bangs but rest are like Goku super saiyan forms. Just changing hair color when they could have been like SS4 for GT, actually unique features on a character.
Robin looks amazing before and different, I miss the old times. And damn the redesigns are so amazing!! All the characters look amazing (I was blown away by Vivi and Boa)
Wow, these are all incredible. Vivi and Alvida especially are massive upgrades. I love how Vivi looks 'Disney Princess-y' and I love how Alvida is plus sized and pretty and resembles her LA counterpart.

I like the redesigns. You're very right about it being odd seeing a regular plus-sized person in One Piece style. Everything is always so exaggerated that it's weird not seeing them represented with abnormal bodies. Think you did a good job with the current culture and the source material you're working with. I am glad the LA took Alvida and made her more attractive. We REALLY don't need to port over the manga's outdated sizeist tropes (anyone big cannot be attractive). I am interested to see if they just omit her fruit all-together in season 2.

Its a great video and good redesigns. I personally dont have a problem with the "Nami face" since Oda is not incapable of doing pretty girls without that face (Perona, many of Big mom female kids), its more of a stylistic choice, similar to how he does legs in his male characters (look Blue gilli if you wanna see muscular legs by Oda). He utilizes accesories and hair color to differentiate the pretty style One Piece characters and i completely respect that, even so it would be cool to see a different approach to the designs (the anime also exaggerates the manga designs) and i feel that Oda is recently making changes to it like with York and Hibari fe.

It is a shame how this diversity is at its full bloom to witness and then with female characters you don't have that. Not even nearly as much. That is a shame. Especially if the chosen mold and same face/body syndrom is freaking accompanied with ecchi, hentai shit.
I don't think I'm the only one who doesn't think it's an issue that he changes styles so much - it just adds more to the world as a show of how interesting and zany it can be. It's serious when it needs to be serious and hits the emotions where they need to hit, but can also be just plain goofy when it needs to be just plain goofy. That's actually a huge strength of the series - that it DOESN'T stay in a fully consistent style.

There’s actual PERSONALITY present, (PARTICULARLY Nami’s, she looks amazing), it is SO refreshing. And they’re PROPORTIONAL too. I forgot how much I missed seeing Robin with a normal boob size and face. 😭
Outside of Alvida's design that can easily fit within the story at any point after her introduction, the rest of the designs are fantastic and can easily become the "after everything is said and done, this are their looks now", the final designs you can say. Nami looks like she lives somewhere peaceful and tends to her tangerines trees. Robin looks so scholastic, like a college teacher. Vivi looks simply majestic. And Boa looks gorgeous, like Vivi, a true royal.
Props to you, amazing designs.

So, good first. Nami and Robin, fantastic. I can definitely see Nami and Robin wearing those in the series, on a color spread if nothing else. Your redesign of Boa's dress is, I think, superior to the original. Alvida and Vivi, very nice, I like it.
The less good. It is my sad duty to inform you that while the style is very nice, it is much more Disney than One Piece. Like I said, it's not bad, it just looks more Disney to me than One Piece. Also, as much as I like Vivi's dress, it looks too much like a wedding dress, especially with the veil. Also, I suspect the reason the dress looks vaguely Roman is because Egypt was occupied by Rome for some time and Alabasta has very strong Egypt influences.
The one thing I would suggest is that Boa looks more spider-like than snake-like to me. A lot more curve than angle in the arms and a bit deeper sway to the hip would probably take care of that. Also, for how a plus size person who doesn't look ridiculous, I would point you to, and just hear me out, Senior Pink. Most of him looks completely ridiculous, but his torso is about as normal as plus size One Piece gets.
All that, it was quite enjoyable to watch you work.
You’re not the first person to tell me Vivi was starting to look Disney style, my own style came out too much because I wasn’t as focused as replicating the One Piece style as I was Nami and Robin.
Also, had not thought about Senior Pink because I was only focusing on the female characters but that’s actually a really good reference for the style lol. I’m gonna pocket that if I revisit these designs.

Honestly some of the one piece character's outfits are decent, and the characters themselves, it's just the ANATOMY. Dear GOD the anatomy. I swear the show would be a THOUSAND times better if the anatomy wasn't atrocious and absolutely, utterly unbelievable. Other than that, it's an okay show, in my opinion.

I think what I like the most about Robin post time skip design is how well it goes with her personnality. Before she was more introverted and serious and after time skip she is smiling so much more and is overall so bright we can see more of her uhinged joke or how she is so much more comfortable with everyone, before she had more of an aunt vibe and now she is more of a big sister (the smile she does in the 24 op literally make my heart beats and my legs shaking lol).
I also like the fact that they kept her more darker style (like her kimono in wano)

I think you did Alvida pretty well, I also agree with every thought you had in terms of handling the live-action and times changing and all.
To me, she kind of looks like Amethyst from Steven Universe. Which, character-wise and even looks-wise, is not too far off. Both are more chubby women who can brawl and fight well. I also had to laugh out loud when you said such body types on "normal" looking characters don't exist, because, yeah, body diversity in One Piece is extremely high, but at the same time, the show is so limited in the designs for women, it's hilarious.
One thing I want to especially compliment: I love Vivi's nose, all the designs are great, but that is a very, very neat detail, imo!
I haven't read or watched one piece, but this entire time I thought that Boa and Robin were the same person, that's how same-y these character designs are
Zoro, White Beard, and Rayleigh all have the exact same body type as each other, yet you don’t ever see the male fans complaining on how they share the exact same body type as each other.
You can literally tell by the eyes.
The fact you haven’t read or watched it is why. Maybe involve yourself with the media before fucking complaining about a mangaka’s art style. They have one fucking week to get 16-18 pages out. No. Less than that. Not a one time youtuber with no time limit and only draws one fucking image. It took them 7 hrs. Try imagining how it feels for a mangaka with probably a 5 day deadline.

So you took 3 muscular male characters that look really really different from each other and said none of us males care about them all being muscular(same body type). You are never getting those three confused with each other due to their unique features. Changing Zoro's hair color to black doesn't make him look like anyone but Zoro. Whitebeard moustache is unique and Rayleigh has distinct beard even when he was younger. That is not even close to how similar Rebecca, Nami, Post-TS Robin, Vivi faces looks. I don't see how people can get Boa confused because no on else has that bangs but rest are like Goku super saiyan forms. Just changing hair color when they could have been like SS4 for GT, actually unique features on a character.
I tried drawing nami with you and she ended up with broad shoulders so I gave her abs.

Wow, these are all incredible. Vivi and Alvida especially are massive upgrades. I love how Vivi looks 'Disney Princess-y' and I love how Alvida is plus sized and pretty and resembles her LA counterpart.

I rlly hate how the characters color pallete (especially the skin) changed and how their clothes aren't the same style. I mean, they're pretty, but Robin's old clothes are way better; All your designs looked really pretty!!!
The Robin design in particular was absolutely amazing!!! I feel like bringing the cowboy hat back would work so well with that outfit!

I like the redesigns. You're very right about it being odd seeing a regular plus-sized person in One Piece style. Everything is always so exaggerated that it's weird not seeing them represented with abnormal bodies. Think you did a good job with the current culture and the source material you're working with. Its a great video and good redesigns. I personally dont have a problem with the "Nami face" since Oda is not incapable of doing pretty girls without that face (Perona, many of Big mom female kids), its more of a stylistic choice, similar to how he does legs in his male characters (look Blue gilli if you wanna see muscular legs by Oda). He utilizes accesories and hair color to differentiate the pretty style One Piece characters and i completely respect that, even so it would be cool to see a different approach to the designs (the anime also exaggerates the manga designs) and i feel that Oda is recently making changes to it like with York and Hibari fe.
They probably could just have the mystery character keep their fruit but just not change the appearance of the actor.
