Mrs. Coulter comes off as a tragic villian, you love her and hate her all at once. She does evil and despicable things, but also shows moments of vulnerability despite being so guarded. Mrs. Coulters daəemon doesnt talk as a representation of her being guarded, and she abuses and belittles her daəemon because it is an extension of herself, essentially showing that she has parts of herself that she hates and has conflict with as well as a desire to control herself. She obviously has issues, and isnt good, but she has moments where she is good when it comes to Lyra meaning, while twisted, she is capable of love and consideration.
I agree and we can feel both ways around her emotions because ruth wilson is stunning in her performance.
