I had a KLR650 for awhile, and I found it wasn’t great at anything, but it was an absolute work horse, doohickey mod is absolutely necessary. I now own a Tenere 700, and it is better in every single way, great choice.
The only part of this video that is unbelievable is that you offered a cash amount for the bike and the dealer counter offered with a lower offer........ gimme a break.
Thanks for a great review! I'm deciding between the Tenere, KLR, TransAlp, and V-Strom for a second moto. You made some great points that, for me, put the KLR out of the running. Definitely follow up with more reviews as you put on the miles!
I got the same year and color. I'm a short guy, 5'7 on a good day and we're about the same weight. As far as this bike being top heavy, I've only noticed it while it's not in motion. That could be because I can only get a toe down on one side at a time at stock height and regular seat. I also researched for months between a T7 and the KLR. From everything I've read the Do hicky and Thermobob isn't a super common issue, if it's really an issue at all. Most of the negative stuff I came across was from "I know a guy that knows a guy that had X problem. I settled on the T7 for a couple main reasons, 6th gear, twin engine over single thumper, and the T7 looks amazing. I got mine mid November and just hit 1300 miles even through the winter. Something I would suggest, get a magnetic oil plug to swap out at the first break in. New hand protection is on my list of upgrades also, i took a nasty spill in some deep sand yesterday and it rotated the throttle side hand guard up and had my now cracked mirror so out of place I couldn't actually use it once I was back on hard top.
Just put 300 miles on it. I would like more of an off road tire later down the line. Ordering crash bars and accessories at the moment. Very fun bike! Riding like an old man during break in period. I got 183 miles on the first tank, not bad in my opinion. Hope yours treats you well!
you make the best choice man !
cheers from Greece ! a T7 lover !
This bike is a golden, you can not even compare to KLR which is ancient.
Ha ha True That! had 2 KLR's and Cant believe they still have not make1 more Gear!!

Made the same decision yesterday after months of research. I didn’t sit on either of them. I will have to get it lowered though.

A T7 is not even in the same ball park as a KLR650.
The KLR is the slowest and most top heavy of its category. (DR ans XR)
