Cam just has greater restoration on tap now? That was a macguffin for the under dark arc! Save the petrified man with the brand in the medusa's castle!
We spent the entire episode in this one single section of mine on Mark's map. I love it because of how amazingly detailed this can get to fill that much time. My DnD group would have spent less than an hour clearing out all these enemies the direct way, and it wouldn't have been as interesting as this. Bravo.
Dang, when Cassandra dove around the half orc to save her, I was hoping for some sort of Bahamut miracle where her actions and bravery earned her some sort of momentary blessing and, as she grappled around the woman she momentarily looked as if she had the glowing translucent wings of a dragon or some awesome shit like that. Reynard would see it and either be scared shitless or be insanely inspired about the deeds which would catch the thoughts of Bahamut. If only that had happened, it would have been badass. That act Mark had her make definitely deserves some praise.
I'm not a huge fan of Reynard as a character, but I love Tom as a player. He always tries to push the boundaries of what can be done in a turn, 2:05:37 being a good example
I think High Rollers has a perfect balance of risk-takers and voices of reason in the players and comedy and drama in the story and RP. If everyone was as reckless as Cam and Reynard then they'd all be dead but a party full of possibly over-cautious Eloras and Jiutous might get a bit boring. Having said that, Jiutou's given some of the best moments in terms of storytelling. Add that to Mark's hugely diverse collection of NPCs, locations and descriptions of combat and you get something pretty special.
Knick Knack + Captain America = *Kobold America*... I like it. Also, that whole section with Vesuvias, from them being at his room door to the final battle with him on the bridge, was absolutely hilarious.
I've been binging for the last two weeks and finally caught up starting this episode now. Feels Restaurant Man. Hopefully I finish in time to catch the real thing live. Mark has thoroughly gotten me into dnd. Even loved that larping video you did with smith and trott. Pls convert me further nerd senpai

at 1:58:00, I realise how useful Trell would be. He has his spells that can completely stop someone in their tracks. Do that to the orc, push Vesuvius off the edge
I hate catching up with High Rollers. Every time I realize there's not another episode, I'm pretty disappointed. You guys are such a nice group (also Tom!) and are super entertaining to watch, love it!
So Vesuvius Darkmantle turns out to be the equivalent of an internet edgelord? Hell, even the name is like something a puffed up troll would call himself
Trell's off doing things with other Drow. Things that we should probably be happy we're not involved with. Things like dark, cramped tunnels, horrific driders, and that sadistic priestess of Lolth with the whip. Though, knowing Trell, he may enjoy that last one. All the same, we don't want to see it.
Jiutou "I was a slave and it deeply affected me" Also Jiutou "based on the fact that guy used magic, and we out of game know he's going to be a boss fight, looks to strong to fight let's be diplomatic with the terrorist"... TO WHAT FUCKING END? he's not just gunna release the half orc and give them the scepter because you asked for it. Your diplomatic approach as far as I can recall has a 0% success rate because you keep trying to use it against actual villians instead of misunderstood characters. Granted the guy was a total puss but that's not really the point Jiutou didn't know that before they first atracked
Jiutou and usually Elora inevitably tend towards the "let's resolve this peacefully" approach. Doesn't always make sense, but if you can cheese a boss encounter by making a good intimidate check or something, it's worth trying.
Also Sam is like that one uncle who comes to your house and when you ask him for sweets that mum and dad wouldn't give you he says "oh go on then" except that mum and dad is Steve and the sweets are Halfling Camp
I think there was a stage where Cam was just a "Variant Human" and not quite a light born, as the race was still in development and not fully polished, and therefore his Luck could have been achieved through the Variant Human. There was a moment after the Briars Crest incident where Avandra told Cam he was now Unlucky instead of Lucky. He has then since become Re-Lucky if you will. Basically, prior to the full development of the Lightborn race, Cam was a Variant Human iirc, that's probably how he had luck. I don't know what's happened since then.
Who are these people who come here to downvote? Are they just trolls who are so miserable they have to spread it around? Knick Knack is worth a like alone. Mark is easily one of the best DM's out there, I am totally convinced by his characters, those players are so lucky that they have such a rich source of fun.
Since I'm binge watching this to catch up I'm not sure if Kim remembers in future, but every week she asks about evading an attack when it's anything other than a dexterity saving role, happens in this episode when she could have used it and didn't. :/

Trying to figure out why Katie is so opposed to the pincer attack. I feel like having the entire party lined up on a rickety bridge is not nearly as smart as having two smaller groups surprising enemies from either side. The idea of having the entire party grouped closely during a fight is in general a bad idea, especially in a line, on a bridge, over a ravine. EDIT: this comment was made before they moved forward and realized they didn't need to do a pincer attack.. but it still stands that it was quite a good idea coming into a new area in smaller groups and having exits blocked in case there were enemies there
Cam: "Jiutou is in front." Juitou: "No I'm not! You guys said I was, but that doesn't mean I am!" Marching order BEFORE crossing the bridge please. Jiutou: "I was in front of him all the time, don 't move me without my permission!!!!" Man she irritates me...
@nunyabusiness3786 then you haven't spent much time in a convenience store in the Southern US or you weren't paying attention to what is sold most frequently.
They specifically made a reference to the OZ books, so I was asking within those parameters. Cam is the Scarecrow, Reynard is the Cowardly Lion, Cass is could be Fyter or Chopper. So that leaves Elora, Jiuto, and Knick-knack. Also, Ein is smart enough to hack as well as (if not better than) Radical Edward. Remember the episode with the digital cult?
HUR DUR I'M STUPID. Dang it... Ein was great. Zwei from RWBY was based on his, but kinda different... He was used as ammunition to destroy a mech. That was good.
My thoughts watching the Vesuvias encounter: "Nows your chance!" "Too late..." "Grab the Half-Orc while she's seperated!" "Nope. Opportunity lost." "NOW! DO IT NOW!" "Damn... that was a great opportunity wasted" "GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO!!!!!!!!!" "God damnit that could not have been a more perfect opportunity..." "Now? It's almost as good as the last chance!" *Extreme facepalm* "Oh what a surprise... This is a shit place to fight him and now they decide to go for it... Aaaaaaaaaannd they've been discovered and lost the element of surprise. I'm not sure how they could have handled that worse."
I stand corrected... they somehow actually managed to make it worse. Not a single insight check, and they didn't learn their lesson from Demitriv by once again believing the bullshit sob story the enemy gave them (And they still haven't remembered that Demitriv wasn't innocent and forced into the broken sky!).
