The episode where we were told the Lich wore Billy's skin was the episode where the Lich wearing Billy's skin high-five'd Finn. Because we can see that Jake still had the pouch in his head where the Lich wearing Billy's skin was tricking Finn and Jake into collecting all the gems from all princess's. Plus that scene just transitions well so it looks like it was in the same episode where WE WERE TOLD THE LICH WORE BILLY'S SKIN.

it was likely not that long. Around 1 season at most. We see mid season 3 that the snail is possessed by the lich and then the season 4 finale is when Finn has the dream of the snail killing Billy and all the Lich stuff goes down.
I honestly took it to mean that Finn’s dream was happening at the same time as his death. Because of the gap between seeing the Snail last and the season finale it’s really hard to try and make a timeline of events without lots of gaps because time is… never really on anyone’s side when tracking the series
the Lich really just took one of Finn's dream, to go on a adventure with his hero, and twisted completely, having Finn helping him in his desire to kill everyone, he even rubs salt on the wound in the end "thanks Finn, i couldn't have done it without you"

If you look up how Billy died on RUclips. Some dude posted a vid about how he thought Billy died, if I remember correctly he stated how the Litch ripped him apart limb from limb, then skinned him to death. Afterwards, he reassembled him for possession.
I know it's probably not regarded as one ( or so I think) but this scene and episode were some of the most creepy things in Adventure time. Plus the fact that billy was skinned alive and tortured for who knows how long just makes it all the more creepy.

Because we can see that Jake still had the pouch in his head where the Lich wearing Billy's skin was tricking Finn and Jake into collecting all the gems from all princess's. Plus that scene just transitions well so it looks like it was in the same episode where WE WERE TOLD THE LICH WORE BILLY'S SKIN.

it was likely not that long. Around 1 season at most. We see mid season 3 that the snail is possessed by the lich and then the season 4 finale is when Finn has the dream of the snail killing Billy and all the Lich stuff goes down.

I honestly took it to mean that Finn’s dream was happening at the same time as his death. Because of the gap between seeing the Snail last and the season finale it’s really hard to try and make a timeline of events without lots of gaps because time is… never really on anyone’s side when tracking the series
the Lich really just took one of Finn's dream, to go on a adventure with his hero, and twisted completely, having Finn helping him in his desire to kill everyone, he even rubs salt on the wound in the end "thanks Finn, i couldn't have done it without you"
