I am a New Zealander. Everyday weather in New Zealand means you need to pack a sunhat, sunscreen, a beanie, winter gloves, rain jacket, umbrella, wear a singlet or tshirt under, and pack some spare jandals. Trust me.
NZ weather has a mind of its own. Because NZ is islands and not a big land-mass, weather is not always predictable, and can be very changeable. Often it is a nice day but there is a freezing wind, so take a pullover or a windcheater. You can get all 4 seasons in one day, it happens often!
It is the same here in the UK...the British Isles are Roughly the same distance from the equator and the statement about four seasons in one day can go for us in Britain too❤

Northland does not actually experience the countries highest temperatures, although it has a higher average temperature, inland Otago and Canterbury have the highest extremes - late 30's to early 40's.
It's kind of incorrect. You didn't mention the northwesterly which boosts the temp in the South island and Wairarapa in summer. These temps can rise to the late 30s.
It's 13 degree Celsius in Auckland right now (21/12/2019), it's far from summer lol, summer astronomically begins in 21th of the month not in the first of the month, i.e here in NZ summer officially started today.

Helpful and well documented video. I really like the thoroughness of your videos! 😊 With weather it depends also where you come from. If you're from India, coming first time to NZ, it will feel pleasant to cold even in summer. Get jackets with you. And if you're only a tourist please don't come in other seasons. If you're coming for work and have to start in months other than summer be prepared for cold wintry weather. Get woollen socks, jersies, jackets, caps, and enough money to invest in a heater and blanket straight away. Warehouse and K-Mart are cheaper for those deals.
Wow, you took until minute 1:45 to actually start the video, that must be some kind of record... I think that many viewers will not stick around this long.
Yeah Jim we have shortened our intro to barely nothing nowadays. We learned a lot since our start. Example -> ruclips.net/video/vsEuPLW-o7M/видео.html Say hi to Pam for us!
I have always been confused what people from the southern hemisphere mean when they say summer or winter. Do they mean our summer or their summer? Because everyone shows different climate. Add the different location typical weather and I have no idea what's going on. Everyone should just use the months instead of seasons when they talk about climate in their countries. That way travellers know what to pack when flying over.
Hey guys, I've been checking your website very often to plan my upcoming solo trip this August. There's something I'm very concern about the weather in August. So far I know, August will be a lot of raining according to acuweather and few blogs. Could you help me to explain what will be the August weather in Queenstown, Dunedin & Christchurch more details please.
