This footage is even more relevant now that it is closed, and the mall is being demolished. I always wondered what was in the basement of Sears. Do you know if the other anchors had basements?
Just the Sears store had a basement. The Sears store building is not owned by the developers and is remaining for now at least. Hopefully it might have a chance at surviving.
@@jaemre288Thanks for the info. We'll have to see what happens to the Sears building. It's good that it isn't part of the demo because you can still get around the back of it to see what's happening with the rest of the mall. Did you tape the escalators in Steiger's too? I just watched a video of it and the next day I was there shooting video and they were ripping them out. I was glad to catch it.....
Thanks for the Upload 👍 !! I am surprised that this store closed.. They were told they weren't going to close !! I used to get my taxes done done these back in the day. XD
I used to work there in the early 90’s the room in the red in basement that was the break room used to get coffee at the coffee machine lol busy days Its sad to see it like that
@@jaemre288update 12/20/24 - Springfield Crossing construction started but sears is still abandoned, not sure who currently owns it. i found a way in through a basement service tunnel but didn’t risk it. also found bullet holes in the auto center windows.
i heard now that the mall is torn down that new retail stores are going there.
Yes sadly it is except this Sears building is the only part of the Mall left standing
Great video. Thanks. I remember going there in the 70's and early 80's. It was always busy. Just sad to see it like this.
The Eastfield Mall must've been the place back then, especially before the Holyoke Mall was built. Sad theres no open anchors at Eastfield anymore.

That's cool! This store did hold out longer than a lot of other Sears stores. I think there's less than 20 open these days!
I hope Target could come to the Eastfield Mall after Sears closes.
That would bring much needed life to the mall!
This did not age well
That Sears used to be lively back in the day. Just sold cheap stuff towards the end.
Sad what happened to the company
@@jaemre288 Well yeah they merged with Kmart !! XD

Thank you!

went there today, the entire basement flooded
That's no good, looks like it's going to be the last remnant from the mall soon
@@jaemre288drove by it today, sears is the only thing left and literally every window and door is boarded up.

Why would they modernize that Otis elevator with Schindler fixtures
What did the downstairs used to have? Was it previously sales floor or just employee areas?
Employee area and parts department I work there in 93
We’re they going out of business
Yes it's closed now
