I've just had the exact same truss rod issue with an old Yamaha 12 string. It just would not move. Some WD40 did the trick! Sprayed some into the truss rod cavity, being careful to not get any near the fingerboard, a left it for an hour. Now able to loosen it and move it again. Thanks for the vid 👍
A word of warning to anyone looking to buy a used 12 string guitar: if the action is like a ski slope and the neck is obviously not bowed (truss too loose) and the saddle looks about as low as it can go ... it needs a neck reset. Run away!!
Hi John I don't show it in this video be I normally loosen the strings to access the truss rod plate, my feeling is that if the truss rod is tight the strings won't make any difference
Hi Travis the trussrod is to stabilises the lengthwise forward curvature of the neck although you may add relief to the neck, you'll want to loosen the truss rod or turn the truss rod nut counter-clockwise. To reduce the amount of relief and make your guitar a little easier to play, you'll want to tighten the truss rod or turn the truss rod nut clockwise
@@IanJCole so counter clockwise will make it easier to play? The strings are up to high. They are hard to push down to fretboard. Also the trussrod nut is not on headstock it is inside the hole.does that matter? Sry I'm a bit confused
@@travisturnbull4948 this is not the sort of work you should do if you've not worked on guitars before, there is a lot that can go wrong, my advice is take it to a guitar repair shop
U keep slapping you lips every few seconds haha, irritating, also I've had a guild 12 string for years ,the actions about 8mm off the fretboard but it sounds perfect, I hate low action on 12 strings, all subjective to individual tastes really
I thought you were going to show how to adjust a truss rod. Not how to fix a broken truss rod and a nut and a just a bridge but really didn’t show exactly how to adjust. Trust Ride I will seek help elsewhere not very good for me and teach teaching someone how to adjust a truss rod.👎👎😖😡

I agree, woozlepop good advice
Would it help to loosen the strings, then try to get the truss road freed up?
Hi John I don't show it in this video be I normally loosen the strings to access the truss rod plate, my feeling is that if the truss rod is tight the strings won't make any difference
Or if you put an allen wrench at both ends and adjusted it
So question, tighten rod = lower strings ? Loosen rod raises strings? I need to lower the strings on my Washburn 12 string

@@IanJCole thanks man but I think I can handle turning an allen wrench. Lol
@@travisturnbull4948 So then, to make it easier to play you need to turn it clockwise.

I have misophonia too.
8 mm at 12 fret You must have some very strong fingers
