The Agate Fossil Beds National Monument never be as crowded as it was on August 21, 2017. It was a great location on a great day.

I've visited this site many time over the last several decades. First visited in 1973 and found a rattle snake on the trail to the bone beds. The interpretive center is excellent and the mounted skeletons of Daeodon are incredible. Check out Fort Robinson Trail Site Museum as well on US 20. If you stop in Harrison Nebraska you have to get a Coffee Burger. North western
Nebraska is a great area to vist on your next vacation.

Before there was an Agate Fossil Beds. I used to go with my Dad to visit his uncle who owned a bunch of the land and lived there. That was about 48 years ago. He had all kinds of arrow heads and neat stuff. We also got to meet Grayson Meade, he showed us a lot of the Cook's collection. which was on display at her house in Agate Springs. I wish I could remember more of the details.

Wow… that is amazing. This is the only place I have actually found what was clearly an arrowhead myself, in the late 80s with my Dad.

Absolutely a great place if you have any interest in paleontology…
Also read several reviews that mentioned snakes and not to disappoint found a very young hognose snake that was just beautiful along one of the paths
