Independence Square Park is a public recreational park bordering the Independence Square, a historic monument in the city of Colombo (Col. 7) built to commemorate the country’s independence in 1948. It is a popular place for families and friends to chill out and is also used as a site for exercise and training with evening walkers on its walking tracks being a regular sight.
