Chris, I'm not aware of anyone that has owned more Klipsch speakers than I have but I want to say that you did an EXCEPTIONAL job on this video. I know first hand how much time you spent A/B between these two speakers with all of that content. Truly my hat's off to you bro. With that said, my A/B comparison was pretty much the opposite. My room is 15' x 25' with 12' ceiling and opens up to the kitchen, breakfast nook, dining room and home office. The RF7 III in my room had quite a bit more bottom end than the SVS Ultras and also more detail. I felt the midrange on the SVS Ultras was better due to the 3-way design and smaller midrange drivers. I feel both are fantastic speakers and you are correct, they have very different sound signatures. One question I have is after calibrating with Audyssey, did you use an SPL meter to level match both sets of speakers? The reason I ask is the RF7 III were noticeably lower in volume than the Ultras in the demos. Again, I want to commend you on a great comparison video. I don't think any of us are surprised that you prefer the Ultras as that is what sounds more pleasing to your ears. We all have different taste and actually hear differently. As you mentioned, the absolute best way is to hear both firsthand and decide for yourself which your ears prefer. Keep up the great work!
Yeah, it definitely sounded like the RF7III were lower in volume which should not be the case. It could be that Audyssey lowered them too much because of their sensitivity. Audyssey has done that in my own system at home where I have a fair disparity in the sensitivity between my front soundstage (92db) and my surround (87db) and after I level matched them after performing audyssey, it was much better and the surrounds leapt to life. I would definitely double check the spl level after running audyssey
Youthman Every room has what I call coloration signatures , Some people like what i call a layer layed back smooth sound while others like upfront deep dynamical details , Its so great to see reviewer's in the audio world coming together and incouraging each other in their reviews even though it may not be agreed upon , theirs so many factors in comparing speakers from Recievers/integrated/preamps that's why I use 5 different amplifiers on my channel to test speakers on Bright warm flat amps , I would have liked to seen meters used in this review and some kind of direct mode but hey at the end of the day it's all about having fun with or passion for music and movies
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 I agree. Even though we don't always agree, at the end of the day, we all have the same passion for home theater and are doing the best we can to provide quality content for everyone. I have nothing but respect for Chris.
The Klipsch sound noticeably lower in volume almost muted or something. I really appreciate all the hard work that went into making this video and doing all the demos and calibrating and moving those behemoths around. I just really thought the Klipsch would sound a lot different. Not necessarily better or worse, just not so soft and muted sounding. Maybe it's my phone or headphones or my ears. Either pair is out of my budget range but it's still fun to listen and dream because the day will come. Thanks again!
.... The levels changed because audessey was re done for the klipsch. The svs are 88db sensitive and require more power to deliver the same db Output. The klipsch are 100db sensitive and require less power to get the same Db output.
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude I'm new to all this, still have a soundbar and zero experience with a receiver but doing my research and hopefully by the fall will have my first one. I'm understanding the sensitivity ratings and so is it basically your receiver "turned down" the Klipsch because they're so efficient and easier to drive? Just trying to understand more, thanks so much.
Hey “Dude”, I appreciate your willingness to be honest even when concerned about disappointing your subscribers. I can tell you this: I believe you’re absolutely 100% correct in your assessment and I’m a Klipsch fan from the 60’s! SVS has earned a listen from all of us
Thanks man. People seem to have problems with these videos in particular. I try to stay unbiased and just show the info. Its up to the public to make their own determinations. I do prefer svs between the two. Sound profile is smoother and fuller. The klipsch has razor fast decay on the highs which work nicely on action movies. Both are great and have their fans for sure
Rob G I did then I made it an reality one must beileve before he can achieve! Now I have the Pc-2000, ultra Towers, SVS satellites, Martin Logan motion 8i center, Denon 2100, with an OLED C865. This took me 4 years and some change to put together. I had previously had the JBL stadium series set with a Polk Audio sub I forget which one it was. It has been great watching TV and listening to music has been amazing. Now I have to figure out how to hide to all the wires lol. That's a minor problem though and I used the SVS custom banana cables as well. 🥰🥰🥰
You should have not only shown they were set to the same reference level after calibration using a calibrated mic with rew on the spl meter (Klipsch were obviously low) but shown the different eq curves applied. Or better yet not run it on either.
Oh wow that was surprising, thought the svs were amazingly detailed, better depth, bass wasn't as booming as the klipsch but the sound quality was so much richer, klipsch did not have the detail & richness of the svs , sounded almost muffled in comparison, svs blew the klipsch away hands down !!..I'm surprised,..thanks for this showdown Man ! great job,
Sound is in the ear of the beholder ultimately and my SVS ULTRA TOWERS are legit 🔊🔊🔊 I have the PC-2000, SVS satellites, Martin Logan motion 8i, Denon 2100, and OLED C865. Makes me happy everytime I turn on any music. Sidenote folks this literally took me 4 years to build so my humble suggestion is to be patient and piece this together and do not use a credit card. I have this awesome sound system and I don't owe 1 cent to anyone. However it did take forever to finally get to this point but as they say "patience is a virtue".
That was the first song that got me into pantera. I really wished they kept that vibe going for the next albums, but they were ever evolving and i think the culmination was on Far beyond driven. It has to be their best album by far
Hello! I just wanted to say that you did another great job of comparing these two awesome speakers. I will admit I am a Klipsch fan but when something performs at top level, you have to give it credit especially when you include accurate testing. Your testing and suggestions was acceptable and I appreciated your honesty not only with this video but with the others as well. Another great job well done! I did participate in your Klipsch giveaway so dont forget to view my comment on that too. Look forward to your next video!
I just want to thank you for taking the time to do the comparison video as I have been asking for one for quite awhile now. I don't own either so getting some insight before hand is really important to me. Thanks again, I'll be looking out for that sale.
I appreciate all the work that was put into this but I do have a suggestion. Speakers should always be compared using the straight wire with gain method, set at the EXACT same SPL. Processing of any kind should never be used.
Well if you want to question his integrity all I can ask you is,why are you even here? He’s always offered an unbiased opinion and reviews. In my opinion the only people crying foul or talking trash are the Klipsch fanboys. I have always like Klipsch speakers and had never heard of SVS until awhile back because I was always of the mindset “it’s Klipsch or nothing” but due to That home theater dude,Youthman and others I’ve changed my thought process. In the video the SVS comes off sounding better and if I had the money I’d get both and do my own test to see what the difference is and go with the ones I liked. It’s kind of like the CPU debate you have your Intel and AMD fanboys and they are always harping on one another as to who’s the best when it really depends on the the individual much like speakers, cars,TVs etc etc. I went into this video thinking and hoping the Klipsch would shine but unfortunately in the video they did not and if you wish or want to think he doctored the results questioning his integrity I ask you again, why are you here.
DAAAAMN. Well put Primal. Thanks for seeing it like it is. Im transparent guys. I give a stand back approach to all the things I review. You guys are the ones spending your money and I would like you all to be as informed as possible. I hope you all realize that Im just a normal guys giving his thoughts about stuff he gets to check out. Its that simple
Tony STOP. You have made the same comment now 3 times. The reason the levels are different is because of speaker sensitivity. The klipsch are 100 db which means its more efficient and requires less power to reach the same volume. The svs are 88db sensitive and require more power to reach the same volume. Its simple/ Stop saying the test was not good
I really like how wide open the SVS speakers sound. Great work on the comparison video. The SVS speakers have a very natural sounding top end, and a great detailed mid-range.
It makes more sense to compare the Ultra's to the RF7's than to compare the Ultra's to the RP-280's. Besides being an older speaker that was replaced by the RP-8000, it's a speaker that's half the price of the Ultra and is a mid-level speaker in the Klipsch lineup. The Ultra is SVS's "flagship" tower, as is the RF7 in Klipsch's tower lineup.
you are talking in terms of this video was shot yesterday. This is an old video before the 8000f came out. I even said in the video that its not a fair comparison...
Klipsch army checking in! Thanks for the review man. I was so happy to hear your detailed opinion after the AB test. I did the ABCD test myself over the winter with the LS50's, Ultra bookshelf's, RB-5's, and RF-7's. I had owned the Klipsch speakers forever but wanted to compare while I had the others in my home for a demo. Although the Ultra's ended up being returned SVS blew me away with their customer service. If anyone out there is thinking about spending this kind of money on speakers do yourself a favor and bring them in for a demo! Speakers are too subjective not to. Until you have them in your home and hooked up to your gear you will never really know. That being said if I blind bought the Ultras I would be extremely happy with my purchase. After deciding to keep the LS50's and the guilt of cheating on Klipsch for the first time in a long time, I got the LS50's in copper and gold to make me feel a little better :) Thanks again for the video THTD
well put Rick. I just wanted to clear the air. I have seen others make comments and videos comparing the two and I wanted to give my opinion on the two. I dont think either are bad. they are both incredible speakers.
@@JoseVargas-md6sp On my 2 channel system I have Klipsch on my A and Cerwin Vegas on my B. I listened twice on each set of speakers I have. Even looked up the same songs and played on my own. I don't listen to Pantera, but the kicker drum was nicer on my Cerwin Vegas.
I'm a big Klipsch fan... but thank you for actually telling your opinion. So many YT reviewers just say its all good. I have to look into the SVS I think
Regarding SVS Ultra Tower: at about 9:23 2 8 inch passive drivers ? I don't understand. How are they passive ? 8” Woofers: Aluminum shorting rings to reduce gap inductance and lower distortion Long stroke motor and suspension for high output Vented voice coil formers to minimize air compression artifacts at high drive levels
Great video. What I hear is that SVS sound like chaos but the klipsch breaks down that chaos and brings the details out. I can't put that in to words but at the end Klipsch sounds clearer than SVS, if you are in to the details and stuff
Chris. I am so glad I found your video! It was kind of you to apologize to Klipsch, but I agree with you about how the SVS Ultras sound fuller. I have owned a pair of Klipsch RP-280F speakers for about 2-1/2 years now. To my ears, the mid-ranges in my Klipsch RP-280F speakers have always seemed to be lacking a bit. I was considering upgrading to the Klipsch RF-7 iii speakers, but in your video the mid-range from SVS Ultras Towers sounds better than the Klipsch. And the bass from SVS Ultras sounds better to me than the Klipsch. Your video has helped make up my mind. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
I really thought the Klipsch would win but they did not! I'm very surprised it sounded to me like the Svs sounded more a live than the Klipsch speakers.
That’s cuz this kid turned THE Is tweaking THE FUCKING Speakers FOR KLIPSCH that shit doesn’t even sound correct KLIPSCH sounds was better than it seems
Dude, they arent. They are affordable and alot of people have them already. I dont hate them. I just prefer others. Id even go as far to say they are the ford mustang of home theater speakers. Yeah I said it.
Great video! I tend not to listen to what the computer tells me to do when setting up a system. For some reason the klipsch sounded really quiet when you compared these. I find alot of times audyssey or company equivalents can hinder a system. In this case im happy you did the comparison! Good job man!
the only thing audessey was used for was speaker levels and speaker distance. The audessey eq was disabled when I put them in direct mode on the AVR. All the processing was taken out of the test
Thank you for using Pantera for one of your evaluation tracks. Slaughtered is one of my all time favorite songs and I have to say that it's refreshing to hear a reviewer bring in some thrash metal as part of the process instead of just ultra clean recordings like Diana Krall/Miles Davis/David Gilmore. \m/
Finally. Thank you very much for this. As much as i love the klipach rf 7s.... man it was fairly eye opening to hear them head to head with the svs ultras. The svs ones sounded so much clearer. Great a/b comparison. Another bang up job my dude.
.... The levels changed because audessey was re done for the klipsch. The svs are 88db sensitive and require more power to deliver the same db Output. The klipsch are 100db sensitive and require less power to get the same Db output.
I make videos for the questions i want answered. Alot of people have these questions and dont know where to find the answers. I try and deliver on that aspect
I didn’t rate your last comparison video of the PB’s but this video is exceptionally well done. Great job!! I’m a Klipsch fan boy, have been for a while but I’ll put my hand up & say that the SVS had a far better sound. I have a PB 4000 & that think rocks!!! I’ll have to start saving for the Ultra’s L C R. Once again, awesome job on the video!!
There’s no real price difference between the Ultra & Prime Centre speaker so I’ll get the Ultra but here in Australia, there’s around $1000 difference between the Ultra & Prime towers. Will the Ultra Centre & Prime towers be matched ok? Or just keep saving for the Ultra’s?? Thanks again
That Home Theater Dude yes I do. I have a Emotiva a300 powering my towers & a Emotiva a500 powering my Centre, side surrounds & back surrounds. My Yamaha RXA 3080 powers my 4 Atmos speakers. Also I have a Klipsch RC 62 ii Centre, do you think the upgrade to RP450c is worth it, if I don’t go the SVS route?? I know you had the RP so would love your opinion as well?? Thanks again mate
I am a klipsch fanboy and this video was awesome! I love to hear other companies speakers in direct comparison to the speakers I love. The SVS sounded way better to my ears in your video. I am going to have to find a dealer near me to buy some and do my own comparison in my house now. Thanks for making me spend some money and a truly great video and comparison. you gained a sub from this one. Keep up the good work. I can tell you really love this stuff!
If my Audi’s sound system is accurately reflecting the sound you captured, it’s SVS by a mile! Through my iPhone speaker the Klipsch sound better to me though. I’m guessing my Audi’s speakers are a little better than my iPhone’s.
I have a set of klipsch Icon KF-28 I purchased from Bestbuy back in 2012 for black Friday. I cant lie you make me want purchase SVS subwoofer. You gave me the itch last summer in 2018 with your SVS subwoofer videos . 🤣😂🤣🤣🤣😂
SVS did sound good but the Klipsch had tighter clean bass and more crisp vocals but did sound a bit lower in volume. I'm in the market to be buying a home theater so I do appreciate this video a lot ty
So. You gave it a good try. I really think the most accurate way to do this would be with a sound meter setting each pair to 75db with no room correction. Then you are getting the same volume out of each pair and can just compare actual sound quality. The klipsch sounded muted and honestly horrible on every song. Now I’m an SVS fan and I also like Klipsch. I was disappointed in the Klipsch. Room correction is possibly the issue. Let the speakers speak for themselves without the Pre Amp butting in.
Damn dude. I have lots of homework to do. I appreciate your help. I right now have a sony 1070 which i plan on upgrading to a newer Denon. I like the sony but have decided on that. Ok now the main part. Yes I'm a bit disappointed on your review on the klipsch and SVS. I did keep an open mind on it and i hang my head low knowing that my klipsch have been out done. I heard it and knew those SVS really kick butt. I have the 280 Reference series thats missing a sub. Which keyed me into your channel. With the sub give away. In return i gained something better. I gained some Theatre Dude knowledge. Thanks for guiding me in the right direction on these speakers. I cant afford to fork out money on stereo equipment so im going to keep watching your channel to get what i need. Still sad on the Klipsch but its not the first time for me on equipment. Thanks again for your time, money, and experience on your reviews. For i only can afford my time because i dont have the money or as much experience. So please still keep me in mind for the sub because it will be many many years before i get what i need. Which is the Denon and SVS speakers set. Can you help me on what i need for surround speakers to go with the Ultra SVS and the SVS sb 3000 you reviewed. Sorry my comment was so long but wanted you to know your at least helping me. I seen a few negotive comments on your other reviews and its not needed due to i would take your word over theres. THANKS Dude!!!
Excellent job, no matter which speaker you picked would be the right choice for you and in the end that's all that matters. We all share the same passion for home theater so whatever sounds the best to each and everyone of us will always be the right choice. To each his own. Respect and support each other in the audio/ video world we live in as the choices are almost unlimited.
Nice video. But I think a huge think that wasn't mentioned is that the RF7III's really shine at higher volumes. At "mid'ish" volumes I don't feel they're even sweating, where as another speaker might be in it's prime volume range.
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude IM LOOKING AT THE SVS PRIME SATELIGHT SPEAKERS. FOR MY 5 SPEAKERS AND TO USE AS ATMOS SPEAKERS. WHAT DO U THINK .?..I HAVE 2 15 INCH SUBS...AS PART OF MY SETUP..THANKS
The SVS ultra sound is better and more dynamic on this video. New Klipsch RP 5000F/8000F or old RF 62/82 or old model RP 260F/R 280 F probably beat the RF7 III due to too much bass and not enough mid range sound. I uses smaller klipsch speakers on my little home theater. R24F, RP52C II R14S, RP140SA and R 120 SW and sounds pretty good with Piooner Elite A/V and OLED 4K TV. Two thumbs up on this video.👍👍
I always love and enjoy your videos. I think for this comparison between the Ultra’s and 7III’s you tried to explain and point out the the pro’s & con’s of each speaker very carefully. My congrats to you because it shows your passion you have for Home Theater and the respect you have for you viewers. Just my opinion; I personally don’t like videos with sound samples of speakers because even that you can have and idea and perceive some elements of the speaker, in reality, video will never do justice of how good or bad a speaker is. I don’t make judgment of a speaker until I can hear it in person. Hey!! you know, you have to spend your hard earned money wisely 🤣. Some viewers pointed out that the 7 III’s sounded lower and this is where I have my only criticism and is limited to one word, AUDYSSEY. I’m not defending the brand but everyone who knows Klipsch, know that those horned tweeters are loud as hell. I will love to see a second round video but this time with no Audyssey, just pure amp power. Also, try to use some soft music samples, don’t show power with loudness, show it with clarity and finesse. Don’t get me wrong I’m a metal headbanger too 😂. Peace ✌️
I’ve enjoyed your videos and learning a lot from watching. I have a question, I currently own the Def Tech 9060 tower speakers, I’m just starting to out my home theater together and thinking of changing to the SVS Ultra towers. Would like your advice on if I should make that change now and go with the SVS Ultra setup or stay with the Def Tech setup? Or suggest another speaker? Your help is greatly appreciative!
SVS are a brand that doesn’t have the confidence of many audiophiles, unless they have focused on their subs. I got hooked on SVS when I heard the bookshelf Ultra’s on a Z review sound better and clearer than ANY other comparable brand. I was shocked, but not so biased that I could find an excuse for why SVS outperformed Klipsch, JBL, Swan, Kanto, KEF, etc. We should all openly recognize that we each hear things differently, so you might not care for the presentation of the Ultras, but there is no denying clarity that is absolutely top of the pile. So then I caught this contest and this time I wasn’t surprised! The SVS towers just flat out kicked tail. I’ve been a hifi fan since the mid 60’s and has listened to most everything under 5000 bucks at one time or another. I’ve owned a lot too, always looking for nirvana. For me, the tower was the PSB Synchrony One. But in the smaller bookshelf style, the SVS Ultras with the right amp are the clearest and non-fatiguing I’ve heard in spite of decades of my own leanings. Congrats SVS. You’re a lot more than a great subwoofer company. Respect!
Great comparison! I am surprised you found the rp series to be harsh sounding, I have had them for some time now and they dont sound harsh at all. I suppose it has alot to do with the room though. Great video.
sorry i should have clarified. the RP-280 model not the new 8000f. The new one took out the back plate for the tweeter which seemed to help. they are going in the right direction
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude that is the THX standard. You should try it for a few movies. I was pleasantly surprised..... and i did own the RF7II'S previously so i have experience with the large Klipsch.
I've been struggling with that battle for months now. I used to keep everything turned off. These days I find myself keeping it on, with a 0 offset for movies, and 10 for everything else. Curious on others experiences with it though...
I use dynamic eq but have all the rest of the bells and whistles turned off. When you put the AVR into direct or pure, it turns off all that eq processing and plays the raw content from the source. Thats the codec I was using for this test
I may have already commented. My apologies. Better low mids on the SVS. Way more clarity on vocals and precision in general on the Klipsch. Is it totally accurate? Probably not, but sounds great to me.
the svs are power hungry cause they have those passive 8 inch drivers and 88db sensitivity. The klipsch have "100db" sensitivity so it would stand to use less juice since they are more efficient
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude i see. I would try to use an spl meter and have both speakers level match at, say, 75db, with Audessey off (maybe?) would've made this more of an equal test. Either way a good test would really be having these in your room and set to it up to your liking to really hear the difference. Basing on how it sounds on YT doesn't really give any of these speakers justice.
Great video bro. I can only imagine the time and energy it takes to make the videos you make. Your giving your honest opinion and keeping it fair bro sweet video keep them coming. Also cool other RUclipsrs come on with respect and not bashing like others do.
Thanks for noticing. This video took it out of me. It was a whole day from set up to film to edit and processing. I dont give my own personal spin on the content i give out, I give you guys the raw data let you make up your minds and then i talk about what I found. Its a simple recipe and i think thats why you guys keep watching. I dont bash or fanboy on anything. I hope that shows
I'm late with this comment, after watching the video and reading the comments I have a better understanding of how things work. I also understand that it's truly impossible to compare 2 set of great speakers unless your actually in the room listening to them with the same metrics. I did notice the Klipsch were much lower in Volume but what Chris said about them being more sensitive and that the Receiver retarded them makes sense vs the SVS that requires more power meant the amplifier had to add more power to them causing them to sound louder. So I'm guessing technically with an external Amplifier you could increase the volume even more with the Klipsch once room correction and the use of an SPL meter has been calibrated. I also noted that the SVS sounded more clear and detailed but once again without physically being in the room with them i cannot tell with all the variables possible. I also agree with Youthman that if you like the sound of a particular brand then your ears can be biased. I am a Paradigm guy, I live 30 min from Paradigm warehouse in Toronto Canada and the SVS sounded more like Paradigm Reference Studio speakers that I currently own so it could be why the SVS sounded clearer to me. At the end of the day it's which ever puts a smile on your face and makes you happy, I think people lose this aspect of Home theater and worry too much about specs and having to have one better than the other.
I was a little surprised by this video. I want to be clear, i watched this through my svs system with ultra bookshelfs as mains and dual pb1000s as my subs. It was weird because to me whenever the klipsch were playing it felt almost completely void of bass to me, not only that but it sounded like so much was missing, i found it boring. I can only hope they sound better in person and especially with some good subs. Ofcourse it makes perfect sense that the ultra towers would have more low end, i just didn't expect it to be night and day the way it was in the video.
You could definitely tell there were different speakers playing even in a different room. they just sound different overall. I like the fast recreation from the tweeter on klipsch. The overall better performing speaker was the Ultra
To me it sounded like the klipsch was not broken in yet. It’s very hard to believe the little SVS towers would put out more bass than the RF7iii’s. Those things should slam hard with some of that music
Great Video HTD, I owned the RF-7ii's not the 3's but identical to sound. I loved my RF-7II'S but like you said they lacked the umph! I also had sound proofing in the room to get rid of the nuances it was frustrating. I own the SVS Ultra Bookshelves what a difference. No proofing in the room now because it looked horrible and I recently redesigned my room. Again great video! Keep up the great content.
right on. I have heard the rf-7II and they sound pretty good too. I had the rc-64II and I loved that center. It was probably the best center speaker I owned until I heard the Ultra center. The rc-64 had so much bass coming from the center channel it was unbelievable. Sadly I started having distortion issues with it so I sold it to get repaired
Either way, they’re both amazing speakers, with their own unique sound signatures. I have owned both and I prefer the sound of Klipsch, but the Ultras are great speakers. Great review too!
Very informative! Well done! I now know what to get, SVS all the way! Half my friends have Klipsch and half of them have SVS so it's a tie! I plan to pair the SvS with a Marantz be it low end or high end depending on the budget that is. Belated Merry Christmas Sir! ☺ Thanks!
Assuming the volume level was the same, I would take the Klipsch camping and use as expensive fire wood. I don't own either brand but based on your videos, I prefer the svs sound and aesthetics. You can get better speaker for the price. Great decision on selling them.
Klipsch mid sound much cleaner svs sound like mud they have fuller bass but don't sound natural to me if you're comparing them fairly compare them to transformers movie svs movies like transformers don't give good detail klipsch is a great choice for movie the system i'm currently building is LCR Klipsch Cornwall And if we compare Center Forte Svs with all models, it will be far behind, my system sounds very clean, I wish I could share it with you))
You think so too? I had to make this video carefully The Klipsch army is Brutal. I like the rf-7s. I just dont think it fits into my system currenly. I will buy another set later on down the line for sure.
Tell me the SVS sounds better and I was actually looking at getting the klipsch but I still might. I would like to hear how they sound with amplifiers closer to their rec power rating.
Shout out on another great video man. I've been into audio since back in the pro logic days. I think I read the same Crutchfield and stereo review mags over 100 times while on the shitter. Now I watch RUclips videos lol. Good job bro from El Paso.
took me a year to buy towers, these 2 were my final picks, after reading countless reviews, the rf-7iii are in a different league, but ultras are no slouch either, I would have gotten them if i didnt get a great deal on the rf-7's. Now to watch the video

Youthman appreciate both of your all's hard work and dedication on audio reviews , I thank you both
Hi youthman, nice to see you here, hope all is well.
The klipsch are 100db sensitive and require less power to get the same Db output.
hope you also test them with no calibration
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude I'm new to all this, still have a soundbar and zero experience with a receiver but doing my research and hopefully by the fall will have my first one. I'm understanding the sensitivity ratings and so is it basically your receiver "turned down" the Klipsch because they're so efficient and easier to drive? Just trying to understand more, thanks so much.
The Klipsch are barely breathing at these levels, no wonder they sound flat and lifeless.
Am I the only one who puts their ultimate systems together in their head?
Rob G I did then I made it an reality one must beileve before he can achieve! Now I have the Pc-2000, ultra Towers, SVS satellites, Martin Logan motion 8i center, Denon 2100, with an OLED C865. This took me 4 years and some change to put together. I had previously had the JBL stadium series set with a Polk Audio sub I forget which one it was. It has been great watching TV and listening to music has been amazing. Now I have to figure out how to hide to all the wires lol. That's a minor problem though and I used the SVS custom banana cables as well. 🥰🥰🥰
Something is going on, I have never heard Klipsch sound that flat and lifeless! 😬
I was wondering because I have Klipsch all the way around . Mine have never sounded like his pair
Me too I have Klipsch speakers and love them.
Its because its ludicrous to try and do a serious comparison on youtube like this. Youd never choose a speaker by this sort of "comparison"!
The klipsch are too close to the wall.. They have huge rear ports
You should have not only shown they were set to the same reference level after calibration using a calibrated mic with rew on the spl meter (Klipsch were obviously low) but shown the different eq curves applied. Or better yet not run it on either.
critical as always
Maybe you should shut up and put out your own video Stinky. He’s doing you a service not the other way around. 🧨
SVS had more detail to me especially bass . I agree with you I thought the SVS had more going on.
Oh wow that was surprising, thought the svs were amazingly detailed, better depth, bass wasn't as booming as the klipsch but the sound quality was so much richer, klipsch did not have the detail & richness of the svs , sounded almost muffled in comparison, svs blew the klipsch away hands down !!..I'm surprised,..thanks for this showdown Man ! great job,
One other question which center channel do you think is best the SVS Ultra center or the Klipsch RC-64Clll? Inquiring minds need to know! LOL
My ears heard a HUGE difference in favor of the SVS Ultras. Thanks you for this comparison.
Obviously it would probably sound better in person...but judging off video audio, the SVS towers win in my book.
Svs Ultras set to 0
Klipsch RF-7 set to -6.0
No wonder why the RF-7’s sound so low...
There is a correlation to higher sensitivity and lower level on the avr. opposite for lower sensitivity
Any speaker sounds good with pantera playing on it 😂
You know it buddy. 25 years is my favorite song. especially the break down
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude - But don't forget Cemetary Gates... 😉
That was the first song that got me into pantera. I really wished they kept that vibe going for the next albums, but they were ever evolving and i think the culmination was on Far beyond driven. It has to be their best album by far
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude - Haha. Same here, and completely agree! 🤘😎
Thanks buddy!
I just want to thank you for taking the time to do the comparison video as I have been asking for one for quite awhile now. I don't own either so getting some insight before hand is really important to me. Thanks again, I'll be looking out for that sale.
If you want to buy them contact me at thehometheaterdude at gmail.com
Yu both deserve RESPECT.. Chris nd youthman...GOD bless u all.
I appreciate all the work that was put into this but I do have a suggestion.
Speakers should always be compared using the straight wire with gain method, set at the EXACT same SPL. Processing of any kind should never be used.
I'm a Klipsch fan but I have to admit the SVS Ultras did sound better of the two in the video.
Dude is an affiliate of SVS...and of Klipsch
I went into this video thinking and hoping the Klipsch would shine but unfortunately in the video they did not and if you wish or want to think he doctored the results questioning his integrity I ask you again, why are you here.
check time stamp 7:05 audessy changed the levels they were not the same this was not a good test
Its simple/ Stop saying the test was not good
I’m a klipsch rf-7 owner and I must admit on this video demo the svs sounded better.
Svs tower speakers built in with sub..
Legend!!! Thank you for doing this. I can't wait to get home and hear them on my system.
We could be friends... this is exactly the music I listen to. I rarely see a demo of it, and never on mid-high end speakers.
Call it a tie and crank more Pantera!
I appreciate the time you take to make these videos. This one was very helpful , once again thank you . I enjoy all your videos
The review we all have been waiting for thank you my guy
Efff litterly scrolled down in the comments and some dude litterally said the same thing, o well!😂
hahahahaha
Appreciate the fact based opinion and how you explain all of the factors that have an impact on the sound
heh?
I really like how wide open the SVS speakers sound. Great work on the comparison video. The SVS speakers have a very natural sounding top end, and a great detailed mid-range.
I'm gonna buy the Svs Ultra series!! Sound much better to me and look elegant!!
I dont think either are bad. they are both incredible speakers.
glad to see svs have taken their sub-tech/knowledge and used that for their mids in the towers
Yeah Klipsch just dont get it on the Mids like SVS. Never made sense why people like them so much.
Great test. I think the Klipsch had a more clear true sound. The SVS sounded a little more muffled, especially with vocals.
On my end the svs sounded clearly and the klipsch sounded muffled I guess it depends on the speakers we have at home lol
@@JoseVargas-md6sp On my 2 channel system I have Klipsch on my A and Cerwin Vegas on my B. I listened twice on each set of speakers I have. Even looked up the same songs and played on my own. I don't listen to Pantera, but the kicker drum was nicer on my Cerwin Vegas.
right on. Im glad you took the time to test it yourself. Thats awesome
@@JoseVargas-md6sp right the klipsch sounds muffled thru mey monitor speakers
I agree 100%about the sound klipsch
Thoughtful commentary. Maybe your best video yet! You're on a roll, keep it up.
I'm a big Klipsch fan... but thank you for actually telling your opinion. So many YT reviewers just say its all good. I have to look into the SVS I think
Regarding SVS Ultra Tower:
at about 9:23 2 8 inch passive drivers ? I don't understand. How are they passive ?
8” Woofers:
Aluminum shorting rings to reduce gap inductance and lower distortion
Long stroke motor and suspension for high output
Vented voice coil formers to minimize air compression artifacts at high drive levels
Great video. What I hear is that SVS sound like chaos but the klipsch breaks down that chaos and brings the details out. I can't put that in to words but at the end Klipsch sounds clearer than SVS, if you are in to the details and stuff
Thanks for an Honest review. Keep up the objective sharing!
Really great video I will be looking into svs a little more. Now looking to get a real setup.
What i do is not always popular with the masses, but i feel like i made an impartial video.
I really thought the Klipsch would win but they did not! I'm very surprised it sounded to me like the Svs sounded more a live than the Klipsch speakers.
David the ultra towers are great Sir I literally love them but they are insane once you add the PC-2000 and set the levels 🔊🙂🔊
That’s cuz this kid turned THE Is tweaking THE FUCKING Speakers FOR KLIPSCH that shit doesn’t even sound correct KLIPSCH sounds was better than it seems
FINALLY! Someone willing to say Klipsch aren't the "perfect" speaker!!! Thank you!

Hello, I think the SVS ULTRA Towers are more dynamic and sounds better.
me too, agreed
Great video! I tend not to listen to what the computer tells me to do when setting up a system. For some reason the klipsch sounded really quiet when you compared these. I find alot of times audyssey or company equivalents can hinder a system. In this case im happy you did the comparison! Good job man!
the only thing audessey was used for was speaker levels and speaker distance. The audessey eq was disabled when I put them in direct mode on the AVR. All the processing was taken out of the test
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude ohhhh okay i misunderstood! Thanks for the clarification man!
Great review as always, I think the SVS ULTRA had more clarity as compared to klipsch. But I would still love to listen in real time. Good job
Finally. Thank you very much for this. As much as i love the klipach rf 7s.... man it was fairly eye opening to hear them head to head with the svs ultras. The svs ones sounded so much clearer. Great a/b comparison. Another bang up job my dude.

Thanks Matthew. This video took the better part of a day to shoot, calibrate and edit. It was an undertaking but i hope the hard work pays off
There’s no real price difference between the Ultra & Prime Centre speaker so I’ll get the Ultra but here in Australia, there’s around $1000 difference between the Ultra & Prime towers. Will the Ultra Centre & Prime towers be matched ok? Or just keep saving for the Ultra’s??
Thanks again
ultra center is key. Do you have external amplification?
That Home Theater Dude yes I do. I have a Emotiva a300 powering my towers & a Emotiva a500 powering my Centre, side surrounds & back surrounds. My Yamaha RXA 3080 powers my 4 Atmos speakers.
Also I have a Klipsch RC 62 ii Centre, do you think the upgrade to RP450c is worth it, if I don’t go the SVS route?? I know you had the RP so would love your opinion as well??
Thanks again mate
SVS is much richer and Fuller. Thanks for this review
I am a klipsch fanboy and this video was awesome! I love to hear other companies speakers in direct comparison to the speakers I love. The SVS sounded way better to my ears in your video. Thanks ANDY. You have a corvette too? I sold my C6 last year :(
If my Audi’s sound system is accurately reflecting the sound you captured, it’s SVS by a mile! Through my iPhone speaker the Klipsch sound better to me though. I’m guessing my Audi’s speakers are a little better than my iPhone’s.

SVS did sound good but the Klipsch had tighter clean bass and more crisp vocals but did sound a bit lower in volume. I'm in the market to be buying a home theater so I do appreciate this video a lot ty
Welcome buddy
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude in your opinion which one would you choose for sound quality and build quality
the rf-7 is hand built in Arkansas. The ultra is made in PRC. The svs sounds better to my ear and my likings.
Let the speakers speak for themselves without the Pre Amp butting in.
good news. i already filmed the same video again. should be out in 3 days
For the music, the SVS sounded 'cleaner' to my ears. Lyrics and drums were crisp and clear while the Klipsch sounded muffled in comparison.

Nice video. But I think a huge think that wasn't mentioned is that the RF7III's really shine at higher volumes. At "mid'ish" volumes I don't feel they're even sweating, where as another speaker might be in it's prime volume range.
Klipsh are the ones

Peace ✌️
Some awesome towers. Thanks for the comparison. I was surprised to hear the logic song in there! :)
Logic is my jam! The new song with joyner lucas is fire!
That Home Theater Dude the homicide one with Eminem is pretty sweet too!

Respect!
i have the Parasound A51 Halo and you won't be disappointed for sure If you get one
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude Manual eq on Yamaha Aventage receivers works wonders !
Hmmm well my ears say SVS but I already own the prime towers... Just the detail and fullness on your video convinced me
You should try a side by side crossed at 80hz as most people would have them for home theater. Im not sure the SVS would sound as nice at that point.
for a big tower it makes no sense to cross them over that high
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude that is the THX standard. You should try it for a few movies. I was pleasantly surprised..... and i did own the RF7II'S previously so i have experience with the large Klipsch.
Over here the klipsch are double the prize of the SVS. Still like to see more european speakers tested
Hey man, nice video! Kinda supprised! Can I get your 2cents on Dynamic EQ? Are you using it?
Nicceeee!!!! Been waiting 4 this one!!
SVS At 0 for both L/R speaker test tone
Klipsch - 5 and - 6?
No wonder it sounded so weak 😅
Exactly
Shenanigans.
the svs are power hungry cause they have those passive 8 inch drivers and 88db sensitivity.
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude REW would also be a good way to test them to be sure they are close to level matched.

wow thats a nice work there,, listening on audioquest headphone and the svs really sound so so much better in all aspect
You are correct. I made a part 2 to this video. just search for it. I made a better comparison. Check that one out too :)
The RF-7 III's are great speakers, but I think the old KLF-20's and KLF-30's are better. Have you had a chance to hear them?
I dont think so. I was going to by a set but i passed on it
Good job once again. Only thing I think you could add would be a sound sweep so we could see the DB level for each set of speakers.
I may or may not recreate the test again very soon ...
What a good video. I appreciate your time and work buddy! Thumbs-up ~John
SVS all the way!!
Your toe-in is off for the Klipsch - not pointing at the sweet spot like the SVS is. I own Klipsch RP series and they don't sound like that.
toes doesnt matter with svs. you need to toe on the klipsch because of their window of sound.
So which brand would you get for a 7.2.4 system?
Either way, they’re both amazing speakers, with their own unique sound signatures. I have owned both and I prefer the sound of Klipsch, but the Ultras are great speakers. Great review too!
Svs for the win on this demo. Wow I can hear the difference. Maybe because I enjoy more “lows”
low life is the way to go my man
Very informative!
Savage. Firewood? Dang. Well alrighty then
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude is just me exagerating to really say I like the SVS much better 😃 great job on your videos.
Klipsch mid sound much cleaner svs sound like mud they have fuller bass but don't sound natural to me if you're comparing them fairly compare them to transformers movie svs movies like transformers don't give good detail klipsch is a great choice for movie the system i'm currently building is LCR Klipsch Cornwall And if we compare Center Forte Svs with all models, it will be far behind, my system sounds very clean, I wish I could share it with you))
The million dollar question!
*Edit: The Ultra’s took the Cake*
You think so too? I had to make this video carefully The Klipsch army is Brutal. I like the rf-7s. I just dont think it fits into my system currenly. I will buy another set later on down the line for sure.
Tell me the SVS sounds better and I was actually looking at getting the klipsch but I still might. I would like to hear how they sound with amplifiers closer to their rec power rating.
Excellent review and thank you for all you're effort. This was awsome.
Would you mind going into a bit more detail? I'm on the fence as well - so some further info on how the RF-7 III's sound would help a *lot*.
@@rippedgeek simple the rf-7iii Kick major arse, but i have 3 xpa-1's. turn it up and they whisper in your ear louder, louder, louder. I havent listened to this much music since i was in high school. action movies oh boy, dunkirk crazy, overlord had me gripping chair in suspense, mad max who let the dogs out lol, seriously tho best purchase in awhile. Ok being serious, i got my pair b-stock for 2500 shipped plus 10% back in ebay bucks. When i demo for people every single one says man that sounds good then i get pissed like you have heard something better, you people lol
The Klipsch RF7-III are more expensive than the SVS Ultra Tower.
by almost double ^^^
@@ThatHomeTheaterDude who's paying retail for klipsch lol
Cool vid good thoughts, I never heard the iiis in person but I prefer my rp280 to the rf7ii I had but returned to compare the two . I have the ultras now and the 280s . It’s just too good to switch back and forth from time to time I need both sets to be happy. They sound very different and I like listening to either.
Well said.
