A wonderful "new" discovery for me, of this ancient treasure, Massimo! Those endless mosaics and freezes, all so tastefully detailed by you. I appreciate the serenity as well, as you manage to keep other visitors out of the picture...Grateful thanks from Sydney in Sydney
Thanks Massimo for another excellent video. I love the early churches that haven´t been subjected to over decoration from the baroque period. The give us a much better understanding of the mediaeval and sometimes earlier world.
San Lorenzo is a fascinating church, for it preserves some precious examples of late antique entablatures and the figurative capitals make them 4th century. It would be nice to know if the pilasters in the older church were 6th century, or were they added in the 15th century? The remarkable 13th century frescoes in the atrium of the church seem to be ignored by art historians, for the artist manages to make his figures stand on solid ground and it's possibly the earliest work with mostly good perspective. The extreme close ups make this video one of Massimo's best to date. Upon watching the video again, the music compelled me put the video on full screen and see it all again. The music brings the feeling that how lucky we are to have San Lorenzo preserved for us.

Ma quale Onorio!!! Pavimentazione mosaico è architettura classica... I preti non sanno fare queste cose.. Le hanno riadattate
