At 17:50 Celestes parents ask Aspen to carry their bags and her dad steps up and says "He's not your servant, he's here to protect you. Get your own bags" America says the exact same thing after her father's death when she comes home and her brother tells Aspen to carry his bags. She didn't even know then how much he shined through her even when he was gone.
The kitty is an adorable chonker. 😃
My worst fear for the past week of enjoying these books has been seeing someone else's vision of Maxon and Aspen, beacause i just knew they would look like standard 30 year old lifetime movie men. Seeing the official illustrations has only confirmed this fear. Gimme floppy-haired teenage boys, dangit!

I personally loved Aspen. I kind of liked him more than I did Maxon in the Elite. In the One, I loved him and his cool manner toward falling in love with Lucy and how he got over America and how he managed to be cool when his first love was getting married to someone who wasn't him. He was refreshing compared to all other love interests. He was different. And I loved him.
Maxon was not the nicest in the elite but I got annoyed with aspen only because America would just go back to aspen whenever she was in an argument with maxon which made me annoyed with him but I should have been more annoyed with America and she was also leading him on so he’s not as bad as I originally thought but I still did not like him very much in the selection
