Bob, the physics teacher was awesome (Gabon). He was 57 that time and he won, that's something.
He was in my opinion a great player he got the person he embarrassed on tv to vote for him to get the million dollars (randy)

Natalie has got to be the most underrated player ever. She may not have excelled at any specific part of the game, but she was good in all parts, which is what I want in a winner. She was good socially, she was good around camp, she was good in challenges, and she was good strategically. Getting Erik out was the biggest move of the game! She didn't need to hide behind an idol, she could use her observational skills and the relationships she built to see the cracks in the tribe and turn the women against Erik. THAT is what cracked Galu open and made the next few eliminations possible.
+Maggy Wing Arlyne V and Allinthefamily Stivic would benefit greatly by your wisdom. They seem to think that strategy trumps relationships, with not a care about the reality that relationships are a strategy and in fact exactly what Survivor is all about.
Yul deserved #1 spot... Though Kim dominated the entire season, Yul overcame formidable odds, A mutiny, 6-4 deficit at the merge and Ozzy during the final vote.

Yeah, but unlike some people, he actually knew how to use the idol. Some people end up going home with the idol, like Ozzy does in a later season. He used its influence, and he used it to help him win.
Eddie? Eddie Fox? Eddie from Caramoan? That guy who just had luck and didn't know what is going on all the time? WHAAAAT?! He's just cute, nothing more.
If this was redone, I'm sure the previous two winners, Tony and Natalie (28 and 29), would be on here high up.

I think Vecepia is one of the most underrated winners; it's good to see her on here.
How in the heck is Yul only #4??? He was probably the smartest player to EVER play the game!!! I can dig Todd being in the top 3, but not Yul??? BS!
His legacy is ruined by the overpowered Hidden Immunity Idol. It just isn't possible to rate his game because for a very large potion of it there was no real way to vote him out. No other season besides Exile Island had such a game-warping wildcard thrown in.
And now Tony's win has also been also tarnished by a super-idol. Two of the best winners in history have now had their games rendered unrankable because of idol bullshit.

Yul is number 1, bar none. He would've eaten Kim alive.
I love Kim and everything, but the people on her season were IDIOTS!
She beat them cause she was the only one with an ounce of smartness, but honestly half of the players on this list could probably beat her.
ehh, Yul was great but I have to disagree. He never would have won if his idol wasn't so ridiculously overpowered.
People say that Boston Rob is the best when he won on his 4th try against dumber people IMO, Kim won on her first against a smarter cast and played the most masterful game of all time. Yul is great, but he had the Tyler perry idol and nobody even tried anything. Kim is the best IMO.
Saying Boston Rob should have won All-Stars is like saying that Russell should have won Samoa. It's ridiculous. You simply cannot piss off every other castaway on the way to the end and then expect them to vote for you. If getting to the end was the goal then I agree, but even Rob has stated that he played All Stars wrong and he learned from his mistakes.

earl is the sort of winner if he played again he would prob win again. dennis was a really underrated winner she will be back if they make a legends season. she survived every tribal council.

I loved Eddie, but with 28 seasons of great players, I'm not even sure he cracks the top 100, let alone top 10 haha. Cierra? Hayden? Marty? Vytas? These are also laughable, but the others are okay although a few I don't remember so I can't comment. Where's Fabio (a winner!?)

Pretty good list, apart from Eddie, just watching him try to play the game or even form a coherent sentence was painful. Even his clip in this was dull, but there was obviously slim pickings to choose from. lol
I like that Natalie Bolton was included though, she was a very dynamic character and pretty much came out of nowhere.
Watching this reminds me that I really like alot of one-time players. My top 3 would probably be Kim, Chris and Yul.
I think Kim is the greatest one-time player, she just has this way of charming everybody into submission.

I do rank her high but i have heard criticism of her season being that men tribe were in general complete morons :) They forfeited a challenge after they won i think to vote someone out in their tribe.

In the same way that a baseball team consisting only of amazing pitchers who can't bat for the life of them won't win any series, a strategic powerhouse (which Russell undoubtedly was) can't win without a social game unless they bring two goats with equally bad social game to the end. If Foa Foa had booted Natalie instead of Jaison in the F5, Russell probably would've won. Bringing Natalie to the finals was a blunder which cost him the game.
Been a while since I watched Philippines, forgot how great Denise's opening statement was.
My list would've been a little different, Yul a little higher, Todd a little lower (I always thought Amanda played the better game but he had the MUCH better final tribal), and I don't really understand Eddie on the list, but I definitely enjoyed the video.
Yeah, you're probably right. I think it's a little more complicated, though, I think she's really likeable to those in her close group (like Todd, Courtney, Ozzy, James and Parvati), but to those outside it's like you said. Peih-Gee I really think felt that way. Heroes vs. Villians Parvati, too.
How is Yul not number 1? Kim was the only okay player in a terrible season
Kim got through by relying on strategy and social skills. Yul got through by milking an advantage that production hadn’t figured out yet and doing well at final tribal.
Yul a good player in a cast of all recruits. Kim was an amazing player in a cast of fans. That’s the difference.
This is why you think Yul is 1 : Your a boy and you want boys to win this list.
I won't argue over number 1, but Chris Daugherty is my favorite comeback winner, dodging that first vote after blowing the balance beam, and then out conniving all those women when he looked dead in the water.
Missing Sierra from Tocantins, one of the biggest underdogs in the history of the show.

raytonlin1 Russell hantz is not a bad player he has done some of the biggest moves in survivor and I think he should have won on survivor Samoa... heroes vs villains however? he starting believing to much in his own legend and forgot the simple fact that he needed to make people like him or at least respect him in order to win... he did some amazing survivor moves so while I don't think he is the best player in the world compared to the likes of colten, J'tia, naoka, there are much, much worse players in the game of survivor....

I thought about that but for one thing he was a great leader in Samoa and another thing he just said Russel in a survivor video and when you just say someones first name only then you have to assume that they are going with the most popular survivor player with that name....
Russell eventhought he's a jerk can play the game very well. The people i would put are Brandon, Philip, Colten and others because they can't play the game mentally or socially. Plus there more mean then Russell x200000

Perhaps with an exception on Yul, I think Denise was the best player in Survivor history. She deserves that number one spot.

I'd put Daugherty at #1, personally. The guy was a dead man walking after that first immunity loss, and he managed to stay in the game. Then he was the last man standing, and he orchestrated the LeAnn blindside to take control. Then he made the final two, put Twila next to him, and let her dig her own grave. (I'm also seriously biased against One World, so there's that.)

Part of me is surprised that Matty has been all but forgotten in Survivor history. We all know Gabon was an odd ball of a season, and when people do remember Gabon it's for the unlikely winner (Bob) or for other notable contestants, especially Sugar and Randy. But when re-watching Gabon, it is shocking to me just how close Matty was to the million. He was on the right side of the numbers in the final 4, and only failed to make FTC because of Sugar's erratic play. It is pretty safe to say that in a F3 of Matty, Susie and Sugar it would be his victory--he was a strong competitor with a lovable demeanor. Sure, he wasn't much of a strategist, but neither was Susie or Sugar. It does seem rather unlikely at this point, but I really hope Matty comes back for a future season. Among the more underrated one-timers in my book.
"Ratalie" is way much beautiful without make-up....she´s gorgeous and I´m glad she won
Umm how is Bob so low on the list? He's legit better than everybody up until Sophie (in my opinion at least) like this guy is a beast he created probably the best fake immunity idol in the game and he was really old! He's rated much lower than Ken, another person in his season, who came in fifth in contrast to Bob who came in 1st. I other than that this list looks great! Awesome video!
Kim totally deserves to be #1 on this list but she shouldn't be on it. Even though she has only played once she is in the category of all-time survivor greats. Most of which have returned already so can't be included to compete against her in this list. She did definitely going to return (hopefully soon) so we'll just have to wait until then.
Her and Vytas are not returning anytime soon. Vytas had a baby boy born in February with his girlfriend. And Kim and her husband also had a baby boy around the same time as him. Not gonna happen

I was ecstatic to see Kim Spradlin #1 on this list, she was strategic, had a great alliance that she stuck with the entire game, she and her alliance won most of the competitions, didn't rely on finding idols and left a good taste in the mouths of the players she voted out because she wasn't a bitch, it was all game to her, if Russell Hantz had treated the people he voted out with a little respect he might have won!

Little known fact.. Russel was nearly cast alongside Frodo Baggins as Samwise Gamgee in the Hobbit. Though I think he may have tried to take the ring from Frodo, had he been in that position.

PlayingTheGame If the game was solely strategic, Russell would have won, but his social skills and jury management are absolutely abysmal, and ultimately led to his deserved downfall.

+PlayingTheGame The game takes into account the price of dirty deeds by having ejected players vote for the winner. That is the WHOLE TWIST of the game whether you like it or not!
Russell ignores the very nature of the game. Therefore, despite clever and cunning moves, Russell is one of the dumbest players ever to play. He left himself zero chance to win the first time and turned around and did the exact same thing again!
In the argument for who is the best Survivor player, the Hantz crowd always supposes "if the game was like this or was like that, he'd win".
Well if the game was simply about ruthless play without consequences then maybe Hantz wins.
If the game was about being funny and sassy with biting wit, then Courtney wins.
If the game was about comparing yourself to historical figures, then Coach is the shoe-in.
Too bad it's not.
In this game, Russell sucks.
And don't forget this: You have no idea how well others would do if they also choose to play so recklessly without regard for the jury. Only Russell plays that way because it's ultimately stupid and everyone else is smart enough to know that. Foolishly sacrificing the victory in order to get to the end gives Russel an advantage and makes him seem better than he would seem if everyone played that way.

PlayingTheGame I didn't see that. Sorry if I misrepresented you :-) I still disagree that he 'played the best' even if you take out human emotion. In HvV Boston Rob took a tribe of lazy, ragamuffin, do-nothings and lead them to a huge lead. After, admittedly, a brilliant play in taking advantage of Tysons foolishness, Russell squandered that lead into a tie and barely came up with a majority due to an even dumber play by JT. Russell needs lucky breaks and foolish players to win. We all saw what happens when Russell doesn't trip over idols by luck; he's the first to go. Or maybe I'm wrong. That's the great thing about the show. We all see it differently. Peace out :-)

I thought Ian jumping in to get back Katie and Tom's respect/friendship and his own integrity back was very noble. People don't do stuff like that in the game anymore.

No way. She was playing against a bunch of dumbasses. In Winners at War she got relegated to the bottom by the premiere episode. She did last pretty long, but the best one time player is Chris Daugherty. The dude dismantled a 6 person womens alliance by himself, not to mention gave one of, if not the best final tribals ever
4 years later, Ciera, Fishbach, Peigh-Gee, Terry and Vytas are no longer eligible, and Natalie Anderson, Adam, Chrissy, Ben, Michael Yerger, Domenick and Wendell should be on the list. (I was tempted to include David, but I know he's returning in Season 38).

Philip Keisler because its one time players only
After watching 29 seasons of survivor, I came to realize that luck played an important role for one time players who won. Boston Rob and Parvati, the greatest players of all time were able to polish their strategies. Although Rob should have won in Survivor all stars, I was terribly disappointed with Tom and JT in heroes vs villains, holds true with Aras in Blood vs Water. For Kim, Denise, Earl and the others, they were just lucky.
You don't win by being "just lucky". Luck plays a role, but more importantly you create your own good luck.

It's sad that this was made before the White Collar, Blue Collar, No Collar season with Mike. I think that he was the best solo player of all time. He was all alone, and the only thing he could do was win immunity. And he did. 5 times. And found a hidden immunity idol.
hunter maikranz Mike is arguably the worst winner ever. The only reason he won was because he was good in challenges. The same case can be made for Fabio, but at least he had to win challenges because he was a threat to win. Mike needed to win challenges because of stupid mistakes that he made.

I like some on this list however the title says top 25 1 time PLAYERS... not coasters. Coasters don't play the game they hang in there and hope to god the jury is pissed.
***** Please do not lecture me on the definition of "playing the game" when it comes to Survivor. I will not attack your credibility nor your opinion with insults as you have done because that is a low thing to do and frankly is beneath me. However, what I will say is that you are correct in saying that it is in some way a strategy but it has shown "time and time again" that it is a disrespectful way of playing the game and in the more later years that it has been on television it has been shown that both players and fans alike do not want people "playing the game" who coast because they don't deserve to win. Comments made by players like Spencer (Cagayan) and David (Redemption Island) confirm this, not to mention the countless other jury members who have shown their disgust when seeing coasters reach the end of this game. I will end my argument by saying that we are all entitled to our opinion... and that it is my firm opinion that having grown up watching the show since I was 7 and re-watching seasons and even seasons from other countries it is hard for me to hear people say that it is a good strategy. The motto is outwit, outlast, and outplay. Sadly if more people played the game with that strategy we all might as well turn on the television and watch grass grow.

***** Hello good sir. I was just wondering what consists of coasting in this game? The way I see it, every single person who has ever made it near the end of the game has made at least one move, and they deserve to make it there. Note that our of the 39 days the contestants are out there, we only see 20 or less hours. They can't fit everyone scheming or making relationships in that short amount of time. So even more infamous "coasters" like Natalie from RI or Mick and Natalie from Samoa were most likely as conniving as they come (Ok I'll admit that's a bit of suspension of disbelief to say, what with bringing Natalie RI's name), and we just didn't see it.
There is a small bit of validity to your argument which is that we only see so much of their actions. However, with that being said, the producers of the show show the most entertaining stuff throughout the series to keep the audience entertained when there is little airtime on scheming going on that is because that person is doing so very little. Out of 39 days of shooting they don't just tape 20 hours, they film days and days and days of footage which is then processed goes through extensive analysis in order to render the best production value to us viewers. If a player has so little airtime on the show and has little to no conniving going on it is likely because within the 39 day period in which they were out there....they didn't do any. So to answer your question Ike the Nerd the only move that gives them any weight when talking to a jury in my opinion is trying to justify the reasoning behind why they coasted behind stronger players otherwise they should not win and instead get a backseat to real players.

Kim's segment was way too short. She only got two clips other than the votes being read. Should have shown her immunity idol find, cutting off Jay after Alicia spilled the beans on the blindside and manipulating Sabrina into voting out Tarzan.

Kim is a great player, Honestly though I'd switch her out with Yul, Kim great as she is, however is a tad overrated... if you look at the type of players that Yul and Kim were playing against, and the finalists against them as well... Yul hands down had a harder time winning, Ozzy was beloved by the jury, and in contrast Sabrina and Alicia were not well liked. The strategists Yul took out and played with... Penner, Adam, Candice, Parvati, Ozzy are considered some of survivor's bests... yeah he had sundra and becky, but in contrast the players Kim took out... Troyzan, Tarzan, Kat, Alicia, Christina, Leif, Michael? I mean in my opinion there is a lack of strategy and IQ in that group, a group that was obviously easily manipulated... Yul was the mob boss, Kim was just a smart chick in a group of idiots
I agree mostly, but Adam, Candice and Parvati were absolute shtitness in Cook Islands, Ozzy was only physical and beloved by the jury (that is still reason enough to win) Penner was Yul's only real strategic threat, the videos of those two strategizing are legendary
Parvati was shit in Cook Islands, still being able to take her out and teach her a lesson should be noted, and adam was an idiot in the game but there were a few moments of ingeniousness, such as playing the jury card to keep himself and parv in the game longer by using his jury vote to his advantage, a move I think people should use more often
Tomthestarhartnell What I like about Adam was, he knew he wouldn't win, so he said to Yul, "If you take me to the final five above Penner, Parvati and I will vote for you in the end" That was some good thinking, and yeah, I think that if say, someone like Tasha did that in Cagayan that would've worked as opposed to winning 3 immuities in a row making yourself an even bigger target when you are down in numbers.
yes and consider the fact too that adam was the only other player that season who could keep up with ozzy physically in immunities, that one placing better could have put him on an immunity run which would could potentially have resulted in an adam win, due to the fact that the jury was filled with his friends. and same with Tasha, if she would have done that she could also have went on another streak and she WOULD have won
Adam won a very different type of challenge it was more a mental/quiz type Summary of the challenge Adam won "The contestants must answer four questions about the season with numerical answers, then use them to solve a mathematical problem and work out which of ten boxes to untie. They will then find a key, and open a lock to raise their flag. First three move on. In the final round they will solve three more questions, unlock and crawl through a timber tunnel, and cross a line of small pontoons to raise a flag" All the other challenges were physical/endurance which Ozzy is on his own planet in terms of endurance challenges so going on an immunity run may have been a stretch but I agree about Tasha
