John Hart did a good job. If Clayton Moore had not been cast, Hart would have been ok. The owners of the franchise doubled down on sabotaging Hart by having the lead in and conclusion still showing Clayton Moore. Wrather thought people, especially children, would focus on the mask and not the man. Hart’s mask covered more of his face than Moore’s mask. So seeing two different masks in each episode only made it even tougher for Hart. Both Moore and Hart made public appearances after the show concluded as well as cameos. Hart appeared as Amy Striker’s newspaper editor uncle in the the the movie “The Legend of the Lone Ranger.”

If it was a salary dispute to get rid of the real Lone Ranger wouldn't Tonto support the real one and maybe refuse to work without him?

Mr. Hart was Okay. Mr. Moore just fit the part a lot better, in voice tone, build, mannerisms, and believability.
