    Wish it had a way to mount a trolling motor on it and a GPS/Fish finder transducer.

      There are a few ways to mount fish finders and transducers on this boat. Please send us and email at sales@bornsalty.com and we can go through the options. An option for a forward mounted trolling motor is in the works.

    Fast track 12 or paddleski for beach launching offshore fishing on clam days? I’ve been offshore kayak fishing for years but would love the gas motor assistance!

    • @BornSaltyCo
      @BornSaltyCo Год назад

      One of the great features of the FastCat 12 is that it comes with keel guards to protect the bottom when pulling up to the beach. If you are looking for something more portable the Paddleski is easy to inflate and transport and is also very stable. However the Fastcat 12 does offer even more stability when offshore with more room to move around.

    I was planning on buying the 14ft, could this handle southern California beaches, deep sea fishing?

    • @BornSaltyCo
      @BornSaltyCo Год назад +1

      The FastCat 14 is extremely stable and can definitely handle california beaches with the protective keel guards on the bottom of each side pontoon. However I would recommend calmer waters as it sits lower to the water and can take on waves if the seas are rough.

    I'm looking at getting one of these. Is this safe to hop out of the boat in the ocean and hop back in? As in it won't flip when I hop back in. I am 240 lbs

    • @BornSaltyCo
      @BornSaltyCo Год назад

      It is absolutely safe! Being a catamaran style boat at 4'8" wide it is very stable and can handle climbing in from the sides.

    • @BornSaltyCo
      @BornSaltyCo 2 года назад +2

      We recommend the gas option to get full performance and longer distance trips out of the boat. For small lakes and areas where you don't need to go far electric is also a great less expensive option.

    Anyway to mount a
    depth finder like a Garmin Striker 4?

    • @BornSaltyCo
      @BornSaltyCo 2 года назад +1

      Yes you can! We sell the scotty mounts that can either be glued onto the hull itself or Mounted onto the aluminum boards. You can either mount the transducer over the side or on the back deck that sticks out using the glue on pad. Feel free to give us a call for more detailed instructions.

    We just got one. I had a Mercury 3.5hp short shaft and I find it rides too high. We get excessive ventilation unless we both sit in the back. Anyone have some advice? What is the shaft length on the 5hp motor shown?

    • @BornSaltyCo
      @BornSaltyCo Год назад

      A 15" shaft outboard up to 75lbs is recommended for this boat. If you are experiencing cavitation from the lighter weight motor I would recommend a hydrofoil stabilizer (also called a dolphin) for your outboard as long as it still allows full range of motion for the outboard.

    • @Toobula
      @Toobula Год назад

      @@BornSaltyCo My Mercury 3.5 is a 15" shaft. There is only one stabilizer available for the Mercury 3.5 that I can find, sold in Australia for $120 ! I may do it, but it seems excessive. Thank you.

    I like it. It doesn't look like a rubber boat bending.
    Am I right?

    • @BornSaltyCo
      @BornSaltyCo 2 года назад +2

      It's a high pressure drop stitch inflatable that Inflates to 15psi and feels very solid. Many people touch it and confuse it for a hard shell boat.

    in it?

    • @BornSaltyCo
      @BornSaltyCo 2 месяца назад

      Since this boat is high pressure hook tend to just want to skip off the side. Only If you really tug it in can you cause a leak that will take days to deflate the boat. I go over how to easily patch the boat in our other video. - ruclips.net/video/xvy5gKwYudw/видео.html

    Which one is more seaworthy, fishskiff 16 or fastcat 12?

    • @BornSaltyCo
      @BornSaltyCo 2 года назад +1

      Great question. The Fishskiff 16 is a more traditional monohull with a pointed bow allowing for it to cut through larger waves. It is also rated for up to a 10HP motor. The Fastcat 12 being a catamaran style hull wants to ride over the waves but very large chop can splash over the bow and it is only rated for up to a 6hp motor. Both are excellent boats.

  • @kayaaruaqyukonkingenterpri9992

    Do you think it could handle a 25 hp jet drive?

    • @BornSaltyCo
      @BornSaltyCo Год назад

      It is rated for up to 6hp outboard. I wouldn't recommend going higher as this could cause damage to the transom

    Unfortunately your boat have glued seems. This is bad if you live in Florida because it will separate within 2 years. Do you have a boat with welded seems?

    • @BornSaltyCo
      @BornSaltyCo 2 месяца назад +1

      I actually work directly for Sea Eagle and use many of their boats and kayaks. They hold up great against the intense sun in Florida but just like a car to keep the material healthy and in good shape 303 aerospace protectant is must. Apply it every 6 weeks or so and your boat will last for many years. - www.seaeagle.com/Accessories/care-preservation/303-protectant

    Think you could pull someone on a kneeboard with this?

    • @BornSaltyCo
      @BornSaltyCo Год назад

      Even with the larger 6HP I don't think these smaller motors have enough torque to pull someone out of the water. It also may be too much stress on the transom. I'd recommend the Sea Eagle 12SR for watersports - bornsalty.com/collections/inflatable-boats-1/products/sea-eagle-12-6sr-sport-runabout-inflatable-tender
