    Love your videos. You are so precise in your descriptions of how to do each step and the reason that I started budgeting. You should take some time for yourself before you go to Switzerland and have a mani-pedi day. Treat yourself!! The holidays are so stressful. Have a great trip.

    So are you double counting your cash sinking funds? The withdrawal from the checking account and then again on the cash side?

  • @sjsnr
    @sjsnr 9 дней назад

    What bank do you use for sinking funds? I'd like to start with multiple accounts to better manage my money

    • @thebudgetmom
      @thebudgetmom  8 дней назад

      I use a local credit union - STCU

    Safe travels Miko! Quick question when you have a moment: for Misc, I understand those are for unexpected non-emergencies. So for example, if you use misc for a lunch out with friend. Would this be under a food/eating out closing calculation? 🤔

    • @shessassy
      @shessassy 9 дней назад +1

      I would categorise it as what you actually spent it on, so then when you review you can see your true spending in the category. 🙂

    • @cg07462
      @cg07462 9 дней назад

      @shessassy thank you! I was thinking the same, however I saw that Miko has its own category listed and was wondering the logistics behind it. I know its there as misc is within her budget so she's adding it in to close out, but I was a little confused and not wanting to double track.😅

    • @thebudgetmom
      @thebudgetmom  8 дней назад +1

      It would be categorized as food for me! I just use my misc. funds. Things I categorize as misc are things like parking fees

    Do you not have a mortgage, cell phone, gas, electric, water bill, car payment, credit cards? I don’t see any of those bills

    • @GKAnderson
      @GKAnderson 8 дней назад +1

      She has no mortgage. She paid for her house out right. But she does have her utilities listed under her bill section which I wanna say is Avista. And she uses a credit card but she has her sinking funds, so when she's done she pays off her credit card right away

    • @thebudgetmom
      @thebudgetmom  8 дней назад +1

      I do not have a mortgage as I purchased my home in cash. My utilities are Avista. My phone is a business expense. I do not use credit cards unless I'm traveling

    Awesome update. Just a random question. Clearly you don't have OCD about the arrangement of your cash (all facing the front way and in the same direction, etc), what ARE YOU OCD about? You are a very organized person. Just curious.

    • @shessassy
      @shessassy 9 дней назад +3

      OCD is a clinical diagnosis, it’s not just being particular about how things are arranged.

    • @jamieb7
      @jamieb7 9 дней назад +1

      I wondered that too. It's personal preference of course but I find the OCD annoying to have things so prim and proper. It's just cash, just stuff and go! 😂😂😂🤣🤣 I do find it hilarious to see how annoyed people that do have it get so cringy over it.

    • @thebudgetmom
      @thebudgetmom  8 дней назад +3

      I'm not sure I'd say I'm OCD... I'm just organized :-) I try not to worry about the little things like the direction my bills are facing :-)

      @@shessassy It's obsessions or compulsions that take up more than an hour a day to fulfill. I have been diagnosed with both OCD and ADHD. Nothing that requires medication. Therapy and activities help me with my particular affliction. I do like to stay organized, but, in my case I used to have to literally leave a room if things were too disorganized, to the point of a panic attack. Then I met my hubby. He's quite the opposite of organized. It's hard when your toxic trait is also a positive trait like organization. Then love propelled me to seek help. Mild to moderate in my case, but it's the cards I was delt.
      I too am guilty of generalizing OCD. Which, I should know better. Sorry if I offended you.

    Hi!! Any advice for closing out your budget when using your sinking funds? How do we incorporate that into the expense tracker?

    • @shessassy
      @shessassy 9 дней назад +3

      I add a row for savings used to balance the actual spending from my category.

      @@shessassyCan you explain in more details?

    • @thebudgetmom
      @thebudgetmom  8 дней назад +2

      You track the inflow of your sinking fund, then just track the expense as normal!
