a xeon x5460 costs 20euros on aliexpress with free shipping. this is what i got for my p5q deluxe. i overclocked it to 4.2ghz with a 25euro cooler, and it runs really good. i got almost 1800points(q6600 scores about 900) on passmark single threaded benchmark and 450cb(again, q6600 scores abou 230) on cinebench while my temps are somewhat lower that 60C. for me, x5460 seems like the best deal
Oh no, its nowhere close to a jet. If I was still running my V8650 blower card, I wouldn't have been able to hear the video. That card was louder than a vacuum cleaner. It also had a high pitch sound that made it sound just like a Boeing or other jet from a distance. Even my 120mm AIO fan at 4,000 rpm can be louder (thankfully its not a high pitch sound). Its probably as loud as my sub-zero phase change cooler though, which the compressor hums just like a very loud fridge, but that one sounds awesome when you shut it off, it hisses and boils for about a minute after shut down. But a non-oiled fan will sound like that, that's what my cousins case fans sounded like, then after oiling them, they were silent.
The motherboard is nearly dead, at 0:39 you can see at least 4 capacitors blown. It may still work but will be significantly slower than if it was fine and very soon it will completely die.
They essentially smooth the electricity, when one fails it normally causes a chain reaction as it increases the demand on others. When several fail you normally encounter very weird nondescript issues however they almost always cause the machine to run slow. Eventually it will fry whatever component they are 'smoothing' the electricity for. In this case the VRM's will probably die and they control how much voltage go to the CPU.
Exactly, capacitors handling current delivery on both CPU and 12V voltage lines are already bulging, creating ripple in the said voltages which will damage voltage delivery components eventually. It's a miracle that board is still running, and it's most likely thanks to the E6300 using low amounts of power. By placing a more power hungry CPU the system might not even power on. Replacing the capacitors is a MUST-DO before anything else, otherwise you will risk killing more components than just the motherboard. If you can't do that yourself then I'm sure you'll have a friend who's willing to help with that.
waccealator Nope, its not a miracle, it is not that bad to have like 2 or 3 bad caps.. Actually i had one pchips with 6 16v caps stuffed (awmost blown up, it had dripped off eletrolitic liquid), 2 smaller other caps stuffed too. This means that there isnt much smoothing or filtering of the eletricity, so it can die, but it can live, and changing the psu and the caps (if there wasnt any chip damage), likely will restore its original state
Other channel claims they are budget oriented. But this channel is truly going full budget. I respect your channel so much for the scrap you have to go through

I got Q6700 overclocked to 3.35Ghz and changed for E5450. I didnt make good enough research when i was buying Q6700 and had to spend extra money to buy better cpu. Anyway if you/he already have/has Q6600, it isnt worth buying another cpu, but i would recommend to overlock it at least to 3Ghz.
or just get some Dell Precision T5400 that can run 2 of sayed Xeons without any modifcation, note* i got one of these for 50$ on a local selling page with a 19* widescreen, currently has 16gb DDR2 ECC, R9 290 4GB, 2x Xeon Quad @2.5Ghz
The core 2 quad you got atm (was a q6600 you had laying around right ?) + add in so it has 4 gb ram or more (a faster memory clock is better for overclocking headroom ofc.) Then a powersupply thats better (36A or more on 12v is good enough for a 100w - 180w gpu & the rest of the system imo.) Then a graphics card like a RX 460 or HD 7950 depending on the powersupply replacement you do on it. (Do get a rx 460 that has external 6 pin connector as this is a older pci-e it most likely doesn't support a rx 460's tdp directly from the pci-e slot & im also uncertain about the compatibility between the card & the pci-e slot as well.) Then adding on a cpu cooler like a freezer 13 pro or similar tower cooler. (120mm fan ofc for less noise & higher overclocking possibilities.) If it has 800 mhz ddr2 ram & it supports down to 533 mhz you should be able to push a 1.0 ghz overclock if you do the settings correctly in the bios. Overclocked a core 2 duo e6600 at 2.4 ghz too 3.5 ghz on 800 mhz ram here. (Set it down too 533 mhz & added fsb from 266 up too 389 i believe to reach that 3.5 ghz clock speed.) a modest 3.0 ghz overclock on a core 2 quad should work well for a 260x, 270,gtx 660 or a gtx 750ti (Cpu cooler needs replacing though on my rig here as its not capable in terms of cooling it down enough (old cpu cooler with backplate from a pentium D 945 system made it nice & quiet on stock settings & a bit noise that was acceptable in comparison too the video on this system.) (Only had 2 sticks of that 800 mhz ram though so i went with the 533 mhz 1 gb sticks i had to fill the slots & get 4 gb ram. (Still hit 3.0 ghz on that ram thanks too them being stable at 667 mhz with only a slight overvolt past 1.8v (think i went with 1.84v) system is still sitting on a kitchen chair in my room heh. Gonna try to find a case for the components though so i can either do a build with it & sell away as is missing a graphics card + harddrive (keeping my 500 gb drive as an external hdd between my windows 98 machine & the windows xp systems i got.) Or make a cheap lanbox for cs go etc for a relative or as spare pc with him only adding the graphics card out of his own system.
Absolutely love this channel I have also blind bought two pcs from Facebook for £15 each, one even comes with a monitor and printer!!!, exited as one system has ddr3 memory which I pick up Saturday You should do a subscribers video with there budget pc's 👍🏻👍🏻 keep up the good work
I built a rather similar system in 2006 or 2007. Had a core2duo E6400 and a 7600gt. I still have that thing lying around somewhere. Also thinking about that time. There was a game released in 2007 called Supreme Commander. You want to test cpu single core performance you should get that game. If it gets into the late game with maxed out armies it will bring every single cpu to its knees. Thats because it only uses 1 cpu core for the main task and every single object is rendered in real time. Basically a projectile fired by one tank can miss if the target changes direction or it can hit another unit which was in front. Artillery shells can even hit aircraft though this is farely rare. My 6600k at 4.5 Ghz starts struggeling with maxed armies. Try it its worth it.
-"Also had Windows 7 Ultimate installed which was a nice surprise." -In other words: "A cracked OS that was installed from an ISO downloaded from The Pirate Bay". Definitely a good way to cut costs on a custom build. ;)
I have a old system with a e8500 and 4gb's ram and a 8800gtx, got bored a upgraded the cpu to a q9550 then 8gb's of ram. And i put in a evga fpb 560ti. And to top it all off a 256ssd which really help. I love to tinker thats why i love channels like yours, its just fun to see old hardware run current games. Also did a build with a i3 4160 and a vapor x 7970. My two main rigs is a 5820k and a zotac 1070 amp extreme and a 3770k with a asus strix 8gb rx480. I want to get a 1050ti for a media build with a lower power i5. The e8500 system was the first pc i ever built and damn did that cpu overclock.
duuude this pc is legendary! I got 13 fps on HIGHEST settings with my relatively old G3450 pentium and no graphics card compared to 6fps on lowest with this masterpiece, it's just awesome to look back and see how technology progresses :D
I recognise that case, got two machines here I was given. Unfortunately they are amd semprons (really really old kit) though but I use one of them as a dev server and it works great.
Just a suggestion, but I would try to test games that a lot of people play on a budget. Paladins Dota 2 Path of Exile Rocket league Just to name a few. Just grab an external drive and install all of the steam games on it.
Budget building is the most satisfying thing ever. I got my hands on a xeon x5650 for 49 dollars, a 500w psu for 40, a gtx 1080 for a dollar (literally the luckiest find at a goodwill, they price by weight) and the motherboard for 170. Got some ram from an old HP Pavilion and some crucial Ram sticks from the same goodwill as the 1080. I've built Frankenstein if he was a Lamborghini basically
It should be Bullshit. In fact, I was 99% sure it was gonna be broken or something, because why else would it be in goodwill? This isn't a normal goodwill where they stack shit on shelves and individually price it, this is over in Vancouver where they have a huge warehouse that we call "the bins" because they throw everything they get in these large bins that they roll out and exchange throughout the day, and because of the nature of what they do you never know when you're gonna get lucky, like when I found a keyboard brand new in its box, or when this guy found a functional ps4 controller. I'm upgrading my old Dell optiplex 755. Just bought a GT 630 for £30 so should be coming soon. Any other suggestions? It currently has 4GB DDR2 Memory and E8200
You should look into that socket 771 Xeon to 775 trick that some people are doing. That would make things pretty interesting. Oh yeah, keep practicing those spray patterns on CS:GO!
Hey man that is so cool what you are doing with those pc's :) You should try to search for pcs at a junkyard. Yeah it sounds wierd, but there is so many hidden treasures there. Keep doing what you do :D
i have an idea for a budget laptop review: the asus e200ha is an 11,6" notebook with 2gbs of ddr3 ram and an intel atom z8530 processor in it for only about $200 it could be a great low spec gaming laptop and with a few tips from you i guess you could play games on it. it would be really exiting for me! i also didnt see many laptop vids on the channel... would be a good edition
After buying my "brand new" Q6600 G0 and having installed it (I already had an E6600 on this PC), my PC doesn't post anymore. Motherboard is P5B-VM with AMI BIOS 0901 by the way. Placing the E6600 back into the MOBO works fine. Is the new CPU dead?
I would recommend getting a 430/500 watt psu and using the Radeon 6850 that is my go to graphics card for old systems like this as it can be found for £15/40 and provides decent dx11 performance. I enjoyed the content as always can wait to see the upgrades
She needs a Q6600 and a GTX 750 ti, that FSP 300W in there is actually a fairly beefy unit and isn't going to pop the same way your Dell proprietary mini unit did. Also get a low RPM case fan and a new CPU cooler. An Arctic F9 Silent 92mm case fan is only about $7, and you could get a Cooler Master Hyper T2 for about $16 and make this thing very quiet.
the loud fan can be fixed in the advanced bios menu, it happend to my hp dx2400 (gone). To access the bios turn off the pc, turn it back on and hold the ctrl key and press f11 and f10 back and forth till you see more options in your bios then last time. The cpu idle speed can most likely be found in the power options. (Note your pc may not have the advanced bios or whatever its called)
Very similar to a build that I did recently. I helped a friend upgrade a Dell Dimension 9200 with the same Core 2 Duo CPU and a very similar GeForce 7800LE GPU. For less than $300, we turned it into a pretty good gaming PC with a Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU, 8GB DDR2 RAM, Windows 10, and a GTX 1050 GPU. My guess is that your build will be pretty similar.
would be good to keep bottlenecks in mind and build balanced system if possible, reflecting it in chosen components and commenting on it a little. Like the idea in general - to squeeze most out of the older system for as little money as possible, keep it up ;)
can't wait what you make out of it, and are you going to do it with little budget as possible and yet enough to play newer games like gtav/mad max/mgs pain/borderlands 2/watchdogs 1 and 2 ?
Easy as cake to upgrade... new PSU, Q6700, good fan and heatsync, minor overclock to 3ghz, a Radeon 6950 and voila. .. Not sure if it's got 2 or 4 slots of ram, but 6 to 8 gigs would be ideal.
Intel Core 2 Duo/Quads still pack a punch. Of course they're not on the level of the i3/i5/i7 lines, but considering the age and price they're selling at, they're still nice "ultra budget" CPUs for everyday tasks and some not too demanding gaming (if we pair them with a capable graphics card).
I tried doing something like this with a (coincidentally) cheap Dell. Slapped an inexpensive 771 Xeon in it along with some spares from my old rig. It's okay but the locked bios and 4GB ram really limit its potential.
I always wanted to see what would happen if you put a GTX 1080 inside of this. I mean, of course, it would bottleneck, but would you be able to play the latest games in low resolutions and with a capped framerate (or maybe vsync) to avoid stuttering? (since you're limiting your GPU and thus it would be easier for the processor to keep up) Or would there be massive stutter lag spikes that break your experience rendering the latest games unplayable? Would you be able to max out GTA IV? It would be pretty cool to see.
Did you buy Need for Speed u2 somewhere? It was a game that i played a lot when i was a kid and i would like to buy it, because i don't like to download cracked games... Thank you in advance and nice video btw😃
what keywords do you use when checking Ebay and other sites? I have a friend who's down on his luck right now and I'm thinking of building him a budget PC for his birthday.

I'd love to see you try and add an Intel LGA771 Xeon to this, as they're a great upgrade for the budget.

(Do get a rx 460 that has external 6 pin connector as this is a older pci-e it most likely doesn't support a rx 460's tdp directly from the pci-e slot & im also uncertain about the compatibility between the card & the pci-e slot as well.)
Then adding on a cpu cooler like a freezer 13 pro or similar tower cooler.
(120mm fan ofc for less noise & higher overclocking possibilities.)
If it has 800 mhz ddr2 ram & it supports down to 533 mhz you should be able to push a 1.0 ghz overclock if you do the settings correctly in the bios.
Overclocked a core 2 duo e6600 at 2.4 ghz too 3.5 ghz on 800 mhz ram here. (Set it down too 533 mhz & added fsb from 266 up too 389 i believe to reach that 3.5 ghz clock speed.)
a modest 3.0 ghz overclock on a core 2 quad should work well for a 260x, 270,gtx 660 or a gtx 750ti
(Cpu cooler needs replacing though on my rig here as its not capable in terms of cooling it down enough (old cpu cooler with backplate from a pentium D 945 system made it nice & quiet on stock settings & a bit noise that was acceptable in comparison too the video on this system.)
(Only had 2 sticks of that 800 mhz ram though so i went with the 533 mhz 1 gb sticks i had to fill the slots & get 4 gb ram.
(Still hit 3.0 ghz on that ram thanks too them being stable at 667 mhz with only a slight overvolt past 1.8v (think i went with 1.84v)
system is still sitting on a kitchen chair in my room heh.
Gonna try to find a case for the components though so i can either do a build with it & sell away as is missing a graphics card + harddrive (keeping my 500 gb drive as an external hdd between my windows 98 machine & the windows xp systems i got.)
Or make a cheap lanbox for cs go etc for a relative or as spare pc with him only adding the graphics card out of his own system.
Hey guys do you think I can run Roller Coaster Tycoon

Absolutely love this channel I have also blind bought two pcs from Facebook for £15 each, one even comes with a monitor and printer!!!, exited as one system has ddr3 memory which I pick up Saturday
You should do a subscribers video with there budget pc's 👍🏻👍🏻 keep up the good work

NetherX no
NetherX you need a petabyte of ssd sorry
Yes
im glad you tested nfsu2, that was my favorite pc game when i was little.
"I'm getting better at CS:GO" *uses a p90 vs bots*

Riley Jackson Well... It is a gun and is inside the game, he can use it.
Eduardo Avila p90s, you just spray. AK-47 is where it's at. Maybe the snipers too, I personally use the Scar and AK-47
scar for kidz
Try it its worth it.
ey b0ss I habe 1$ gibe de 60fps 1080p
minesweeper got you covered
No Hiak what
git gud itz filthy frank bitch
-"Also had Windows 7 Ultimate installed which was a nice surprise."
-In other words: "A cracked OS that was installed from an ISO downloaded from The Pirate Bay".
Definitely a good way to cut costs on a custom build. ;)
When you thought you were first comment but you were actually like the 15th comment bc your iPhone sucks ass 😂😂
Was watching this in my plane waiting for take-off. Thought we finally started moving only to be fooled by your turbojet engine impression.
Finally you tested something with NFS U2!
GAMING PC
Perfect for that flight simulator cabin ambiance! :)
your videos are always a nice thing to come home too, getting more motivated to pull my i3 4130 out of retirement haha keep it up fella☝
That was exciting video :) It sometimes pays off to visit other youtubers' channels
Paladins
Dota 2
Path of Exile
Rocket league
Just to name a few.
Hey what game were you playing at the end with the tanks? By the way, loved the video mean!
I'm upgrading my old Dell optiplex 755. Just bought a GT 630 for £30 so should be coming soon. Any other suggestions? It currently has 4GB DDR2 Memory and E8200
Upgrade the ram to 8gb and get a better gpu like GTX 750ti
And upgrade the CPU to core 2 quad q6600 or q9650
You should look into that socket 771 Xeon to 775 trick that some people are doing. That would make things pretty interesting. Oh yeah, keep practicing those spray patterns on CS:GO!
Hey man that is so cool what you are doing with those pc's :)
You should try to search for pcs at a junkyard. Yeah it sounds wierd, but there is so many hidden treasures there.
Keep doing what you do :D
I demand to see a part collection video!
i have an idea for a budget laptop review: the asus e200ha is an 11,6" notebook with 2gbs of ddr3 ram and an intel atom z8530 processor in it for only about $200 it could be a great low spec gaming laptop and with a few tips from you i guess you could play games on it. it would be really exiting for me! i also didnt see many laptop vids on the channel... would be a good edition
You do know that the Universal Widescreen Patcher (UniSW) can get U2 to a custom resolution, right?
Upgrade the PSU first. Then,
- GTX 1050
- Core 2 Quad (or higher clocked C2D if quads don't work in that mobo)
- Max out the RAM
the loud fan can be fixed in the advanced bios menu, it happend to my hp dx2400 (gone). To access the bios turn off the pc, turn it back on and hold the ctrl key and press f11 and f10 back and forth till you see more options in your bios then last time. The cpu idle speed can most likely be found in the power options. (Note your pc may not have the advanced bios or whatever its called)
I would love to see how many FPS you get with GTA4 when you upgrade this system! As always great videos ;)
You can fool your neighbors into thinking you have a home server with that pc. You know, cause they'll hear it in their own house
I have 100% same parts laying around, will be fun to poke around again :)
Nice find that fsp psu does have some beffly electronics try to save it replace that fan,i cant wait to see how the upgrades wil trun out.
Looping 1:27... THAT FAN is what sweet dreams are made of
Do more unknown hardware videos! Very interesting to watch! Great video as always
VIDEO:TEN DOLLAR PC
MY SCHOOL:I'LL TAKE YOUR ENTIRE STOCK
Easy as cake to upgrade... new PSU, Q6700, good fan and heatsync, minor overclock to 3ghz, a Radeon 6950 and voila. .. Not sure if it's got 2 or 4 slots of ram, but 6 to 8 gigs would be ideal.
Looking forward to see what you can do with this.
Grats on 111k subs breh you killing it
"dislike the video if you didn't enjoy it" this is why I watch you, great video as always
im liking this video because he suggested that if you didn't like the video, dislike, unlike a lot of these youtubers today, nice vid!
8 minutes and almost 2,000 views! Can't wait until you hit 200,000 man, keep up the good work :)
The GTA IV settings weren`t on the lowest, atleast the shadows were on which eat dramatically amount of FPS for me
Intel Core 2 Duo/Quads still pack a punch.
I was looking at something similar, hence very curious to see where you go with this
I always wanted to see what would happen if you put a GTX 1080 inside of this. It would be pretty cool to see.
can't wait to see you upgrade this!
So, have you ever used a Radeon HD 4870? I had to use one since 2008. Recently died. I need a suggestion to replace it until August.
Good video. Can't wait to see what comes out of this! I'm currently running on a dell inspiron n5050 laptop lol
2:50 i played gta iv like that but with 800x600 resolution and 10 fps for 150h+
Good find and I bet you have a PSU laying around that will fix that problem - good video - Also First 65 or Older
