That for the first time she isn't even going to try as she knows they have already lost.

too bad journey's end destroys that in seconds with ''big red button'' honestly all his finales feel built up but villains get defeated too easily . the series 4 finale needed to be at least a 3 parter
I remember I used to find Human Nature boring as a child. I was always just waiting for the actual Doctor to come back, and loved it when he did. Now looking back at it, this two parter is amazing and really is one of the best of Ten's run.
Honestly, the Lazarus experiment is one of my favourite episodes of Doctor Who, purely because the Lazarus Monster freaked me out as a kid. For that it holds a special place in my heart, but the CGI has aged like milk left in the sun however
Phantom Menace has Darth Maul. Fear Her doesn't. Hands-down win. Young Anakin gets a slight edge over Chloe Webber since he, you know... has some personality. It's not much, and most of it isn't good, but it's more than Webber.
You really pointed out what makes the stolen earth so good. I have always tried to work out what but it’s terry nations vision, the hook that got me into doctor who originally and an amazing Russel T Davies script.
As a kid I’d almost completely avoid Human Nature and Water on Mars because they made you feel the most. Mainly because they left you feeling heartbroken, afraid of what The Doctor was becoming or how he reacted at the end of the episodes. Now as an adult I find these episodes probably the best ones written by Russel.
Planet of the dead was a pretty good story imo - brilliant premise, great acting, interesting sci fi concept, and pretty awesome cinematography + music.
Agreed, its one of the few stories so solidly written you could take the Doctor and Rose out, make it a separate 6 part miniseries and it would still be brilliant.
I always thought Dreamland was just something I came up with, like a really shit dream, now I know it existed. Thank you for letting me know I’m not completely insane
Just read Prisoner of the Daleks on your recommendation- it is great! Dark and interesting, great set pieces, etc., But my favorite part was the single line "Where did you last leave it?" Can't explain without spoiling it, but I laughed out loud. I really wasn't expecting it near the climax of such a tense story, but it made the whole book in my opinion. Thanks for pointing me to it!
So happy Waters of Mars made your best list. When people ask me about my favourite episode, while there might be others, that episode is ALWAYS the first one I think of. I was dumb struck when I saw it.
I got excited just thinking about this era again! I feel another rewatch coming on. (Plus, Stolen Earth/Journey's End can only be viewed after watching the 4 preceding series to be fully enjoyed, sorry, I don't make the rules)
He was my Favourite doctor however the time in which it was aired helps me love it more. The current doctor who’s now for me are too sci-fi ( I know it may not make sense 😂 ). It’s kept human with alien life. David’s Portrayal of a man who just wants to be happy really shows in so many episodes.
This show helped me out of a dark time when I was in college. I knew no one in the states that watched it and got a few friends and my brother into it. We’d get the episodes months later. I was happy but affronted when Eleven made it big here.
Dreamland used to be played on cbbc all the time during 2009 and I kinda love it after seeing it so much, as a kid I never even noticed how bad the animation was, I watched it recently and it’s not great but I can’t hate it
7:03 interesting you reference Tooth and Claw! *It was five to ten minutes over, so Russell had it majorly cut down.* Every pause, every beat, every moment of silence gone. It does make the episode pacy, but watch it back and you can pin point the *exact* scenes they butchered Euros's stunning direction.
I remember loving dreamland as a kid. Mainly because I have so much nostalgia for the 2009 specials and I watched them on the day waters of mars aired.
If Last of the Time Lords were at least competent, and the Dalek two-part did itself justice, Series 3 would be my favourite season ever. The Lazarus Experiment is fine. You're always gonna have a stale episode. Also, I only yesterday found out it wasn't Mark who wrote it :(
I didn't mind The Lazarus Experiment, but Daleks in Manhattan/Evolution of the Daleks was pretty cringe. It's still watchable, just not as enjoyable for me as the rest of the series.
something i realised when i watched the dream land when i was younger was that it tied into an episode of Sahara Jayne adventures with the one ship used showing up and the robot men also show up in the SJA
i know this is an old video, but ten.... he was THE doctor for me, sure i see others now but he was the doctor who captivated the role and the child with the gas mask *shudders* still have nightmares
With you on Prisoner of the Daleks. It's a book that's hard to put down and the Daleks are brutal in this story and 10 has a line about Dalek gunsticks that backs this up.
Omds I’m glad you talked about Dreamland I have flashbacks to watching some wierd Tennet doctor who cartoon at age 10 but then u showed me it actually was an episode so thank you
It kinda is a part of Doctor Who to be embarrassed, when someone uninitiated is watching with you. Had that with my dad and the giant cyberman and the cheesy music at the end of the next doctor.
I would love to see you make a best and worst of the Daleks video. Any chance you will put out any of your creative writing? I would love to read some after seeing your What I would do with doctor who video.
Yeah, I think sometimes I see Ten as the gimmick Doctor (God knows The Day of The Doctor novel did), but that's not giving the character credit he deserves. Martha, on the other hand, I'll defend every day of the week. Best companion.
Yes indeed Martha is the best companion since Sarah Jane. It might be due to my preference for black/mixed race girls 😂 but honestly aside from being beautiful she was genuinely like an upgraded Rose (Although I liked rose alot) Martha just made some of the episodes happen like I believe if rose or Donna had been in most of the episodes Martha was in they wouldn't have been as good.
@@SamyulDavis Yeah the fact that the archangel network can weaponise psychic energy comes out of nowhere. Maybe if we'd see the Doctor putting this plan into action? I dunno. Overall I'd still put the three part finale on my best list of new who but at the number ten slot.
ngl the idea of a doctor who game as the tenth doctor and every single dialogue in the game always has the option of "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry" regardless of context is hilarious
Best: 5) The Waters of Mars 4) The Stolen Earth/Journey's End 3) Blink 2) Utopia/The Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords 1) Voyage of the Damned Worst: 1) New Earth 2) Planet of the Dead 3) Partners in Crime 4) Smith and Jones 5) The Runaway Bride
Loving the 10th Doctor love, not exactly a rare thing in the Doctor Who fandom but there's definitely a portion who absolutely hate 10. He's too romantic! Why can't he get over Rose! He's too arrogant! It's almost as if he has a character. Bloody love the Tenth Doctor.
I recently rewatched Series 3, because we have it on DVD, but all the other episodes mentioned bring back foggy memories. It seems weird for it to be that long ago. Just faint memories. I'd love to rewatch all of the era someday.
I jumped on the Doctor Who bandwagon in about 2012. And I had no prior knowledge of the series (how times have changed). I watched from season one of the reboot with the Ninth Doctor. Let👏🏻me👏🏻tell👏🏻you👏🏻! Even in my NewWho ignorance, when Davros showed up in “Stolen Earth”, I got SSSSSOOOOO excited! I remember having a moment and screaming with excitement!
With the tenth doctor I feel like I like the character Tennant is portraying, but just don't feel like he's the doctor to me. He feels more like a dashing, flirtatious rogue rather than an eccentric, wise old space grandpa.
I would like that even if they are making big changes they also make justifications for this changes, like explaining why the doctor chooses to portray certain personalities traits, like. Why after spending 7 regenerations without having a romantic relationship with anyone, why suddenly at his 8th incarnation he decides to have one? (I know that is because regenerations are arbitrary, but being romantic is something you choose) i like to know what make the doctor to make that change, and the same for his different regenerations
Good video, enjoyed that a lot. 10 is in no way my favourite Doctor but it's undeniable his era was New Who (possibly all Who) at it's peak. And yeah, Prisoner of the Daleks is superb.
Waters of Mars always seemed like it was Kilgrave rather than The Doctor. Tennant plays villains much better than he plays heroes, so i love seeing him become more villainous in that episode.
I just rewatched this one and I hadn't realised how much the sentence 'well, it's not the Chibnal era' completely reframes how I see the weakest RTD and Moffat stuff
I remember everyone being so excited for Waters of Mars at school new Doctor Who is exciting for kids and then nobody got it. There was no big threat like the Master or the Daleks or the Cybermen. The Doctor was the threat.
I absolutely love last of the timelords, everything you said you didn't like about it were things I loved about it, even the deus ex machina. The only bit I don't like is the idea that cpt jack is the face of boe.
@@maxpayneful4328 interesting? Nah it's not interesting at all, only thing it explains is how the face of boe knew to tell the doctor he wasn't alone. Just the idea that Jack somehow becomes a giant head lined with ovaries makes zero sense to me and is just rediculous.
@@greghawkins59 Mate you're saying that what happens to him....is ridiculous 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ it's doctor who for Christ's sake!!! How are you expecting it to make sense the whole show is a massive paradox
@@maxpayneful4328 there's such a thing as suspension of disbelief; being able to ignore the fact none of what happens is actually possible, so long as it makes sense within the story. The problem with the jack/boe stuff is that breaks my suspension of disbelief, it's too stupid of an idea for me to go along with. I can see no possible explanation that will satisfy me in that storyline.
love and monsters is a pretty bad episode but it has some really interesting stuff in there The idea of a group of people who have been affected by the doctor in some way and are now obsessed with him is really interesting and the scene where Elton remembers the death of his mother is actually quite well done I think that if they got rid of the abzorbalof and made it the all about the psychological effects that would be caused by encountering a being such as the doctor it could be an amazing character study.
13:26 one of my fav bits of DW EVER is the title sequence of The Stolen Earth and Journeys End because it has SO MANY NAMES Edit: when i first watched it with my family i was chanting HYPE HYPE HYPE!
This is a love you and hate you post, kind of like your review itself of the good and bad of Ten. Love you, love you, LOVE YOU for mentioning "Prisoner of the Daleks." No one ever does, not even DWMag who just did a Dalek special issue for heaven's sake mentioned this triumph of a novel. But wait where the hell is "Midnight"? IMHO, the second best episode Tennant ever did falling just behind "Human Nature/Family of Blood." I can re watch "Blink" and not be scared by it but "Midnight"? Hell no. That is because you just can't let it go even after the credits roll wondering 'would I do what they did if presented with the same circumstances?' The passengers were, in many ways scarier than the entity.
Midnight sticks with me in a very different way. I think it's the best bottle episode of telly ever written and it's the only one with a surrogate character I see myself in. Jethro is absolutely how I would react in a Who story and that fact is really interesting because its not at all flattering. That dynamic is the scariest thing in Nu Who, no question.
I don't get why last of the timelords gets so much hate. I love pretty much everything about it. Also you're kidding yourself if you think Lazarus experiment is worse than 42. At least the concept is intriguing in lazarus. 42 is the horrible combination of predictable and forgettable.
I read Prisoner back in 2009 on a flight to Hawii and stayed up for - I'm not kidding - 36 hours. That's how addictive it was. i was only like 12 at the time.
I'll be honest, 11 is the Doctor i'm the most out of touch with when it comes to expanded media. I don't know if I was just more distant from the show or the merchandise was different or what, but I can name the 11 books/comics/audios i've listened to on one hand. Good idea though. I doubt i'd really mix it up though as my opinions with Moffat's era are pretty set in stone.
@@SamyulDavis You know how love interests and wanting to be human were 10's motif's? I've found that 11's motif was children, young Amy, Young River, young Kazran, the children on Trenzalore, the kids in Lion Witch and the Wardrobe, George in Night Terrors.
“A well oiled machine” couldn’t be a better phrase to describe The Stolen Earth. We will never ever see another story like it, even with Russell T. Davies now returning, a miracle of television. Funny seeing Planet Of The Dead on here, I always remember it as being the worst Tenth Doctor story for this one reason, it was the first time I actually missed a Doctor Who episode as it aired. I was watching Primeval instead! Even though I hadn’t actually seen Planet Of The Dead, I knew it was better to give it a miss that night!
20:30 I just finished death and the queen a few hours ago and that description is just too accurate. I was 5 in 2008 but the second those title credits rolled I was bawling. And I LOVE Tennant here. When you said he is a bit more wirey and twitchy I just thought you meant to an extent but Jesus Christ in some scenes he is near unrecognisable. That’s not a criticism though in fact he’s so good that I only see it as a shame that he didn’t get a chance to play the Doctor like this on screen. But thanks sooo much for the recommendation but also thanks for demolishing my bank account because I’m going to go and buy the volume three box set. Yeah that’s right Ima do them out of order. Quick question though is Tennant like he is in death and the queen in all of the Donna box sets?
He's like a NEW doctor and I adore it. This dweeby 10 is my exact vision of what a new incarnation should be. He gets in a couple darker moments too though. Nah, he's a bit of a petrolhead in Time Reaver and doing usual fare in Technophobia. He's a lot more consistent in the other two boxsets, but Death & The Queen I BELIEVE is the first one he recorded. It may have been the material or just him getting back into character. Let me know what you like out of the volume 3 box! Two of them were solid 7 or 8's whereas the TV ghost story one didn't play for me at all, but then all of them have their weak link. My favourite of the 3 boxsets is actually the one with Rose. I hope they keep pumping them out forever.
DAVIS I’m surprised the rose one is anyone’s favourite as we all know her reputation after the likes of series 2. I’m kind of disappointed that he’s back to his usual emo stuff in the other box sets because he’s genuinely the example of the best Doctor in death and the queen. I also hope they make another one and hopefully James Goss will be the script editor for one of them.

Get rid of the bliss being on the monsters arse and that thing with the slab then it’s a decent episode
I genuinely enjoyed it until the very end, I was shocked as to how much the ending ruined the entire episode for me
The end 😌
I remember I used to find Human Nature boring as a child. I was always just waiting for the actual Doctor to come back, and loved it when he did.
Now looking back at it, this two parter is amazing and really is one of the best of Ten's run.
Every time the Doctor moves in Dreamland, I expect to hear gears grinding
Honestly, the Lazarus experiment is one of my favourite episodes of Doctor Who, purely because the Lazarus Monster freaked me out as a kid. For that it holds a special place in my heart, but the CGI has aged like milk left in the sun however
"Doctor Who: Fear Her" vs "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace"
Young Anakin Skywalker vs Chloe Webber
Edit: Ani is way better than Chloe.
Chloe webber
Phantom Menace has Darth Maul. Fear Her doesn't. Hands-down win.
Young Anakin gets a slight edge over Chloe Webber since he, you know... has some personality. It's not much, and most of it isn't good, but it's more than Webber.
Shame... I liked them both
I've only ever cried once at TV and it was over the stolen earth at the end when Sarah waves goodbye to the doctor and she has tears in her eyes
You really pointed out what makes the stolen earth so good. I have always tried to work out what but it’s terry nations vision, the hook that got me into doctor who originally and an amazing Russel T Davies script.
Has the reception of this video warranted this well earned fourth Doctor re-retrospective?
Come on man scratchman is a masterpiece.
Says he can’t play the dalek’s theme for longer than 5 Seconds.
Plays it for 5 minutes.
Planet of the dead was a pretty good story imo - brilliant premise, great acting, interesting sci fi concept, and pretty awesome cinematography + music.
Lee Evan's character was real annoying
@@meris8486 he was like an overexcited child version of osgood.
@@charlieblockclocksnow
Yeah Osgood is a better version of that archetype
Agreed, its one of the few stories so solidly written you could take the Doctor and Rose out, make it a separate 6 part miniseries and it would still be brilliant.
I always thought Dreamland was just something I came up with, like a really shit dream, now I know it existed. Thank you for letting me know I’m not completely insane
Nivada Stars Wouldn’t really describe this comment as a life story. If you consider 31 words to be a life story I feel sorry for you my guy.
Nivada Stars oh shit
Same I remembered it but at the same time couldn't tell you a thing about it
Davis:Siri Play the greatest doctor who track ever composed.
Siri: Playing "Doctor in distress" featuring colin baker
Davis: Nonononono !
The video says it was supposed to start about an hour and 12 minutes ago!
Quick, stabilise the relative time continuum!
Quickly reverse the polarity of the neutron flow
I remember the Dream Land every now and again haha Awesome video hugs :)
Thank you for all of your Doctor who discussions. I enjoy them so much.
This show helped me out of a dark time when I was in college. I knew no one in the states that watched it and got a few friends and my brother into it. We’d get the episodes months later. I was happy but affronted when Eleven made it big here.
Dreamland used to be played on cbbc all the time during 2009 and I kinda love it after seeing it so much, as a kid I never even noticed how bad the animation was, I watched it recently and it’s not great but I can’t hate it
I adore the last of the timelords but I'll agree the weird magic stuff is dumb
10s regeneration at the end of Stolen Earth was one of my earliest pop culture memory, and it’s stuck with me all this time!
I want the slitheen back- I love how dark the doctor can be as well, as a character
I feel like fear her is a story that would only work in book form
Fear Her
Love & Monsters
Let us never speak of them.
something i realised when i watched the dream land when i was younger was that it tied into an episode of Sahara Jayne adventures with the one ship used showing up and the robot men also show up in the SJA
Yeah I found that really cool
this man owns futurama season 5 on dvd
and it goes IN the doctor who shelf
collectors beware
I would have loved a Doctor Who Telltale game, is the Telltale engine being picked up or is that just gonna die?
Really happy I've found this channel!
i know this is an old video, but ten.... he was THE doctor for me, sure i see others now but he was the doctor who captivated the role
and the child with the gas mask *shudders* still have nightmares
With you on Prisoner of the Daleks. It's a book that's hard to put down and the Daleks are brutal in this story and 10 has a line about Dalek gunsticks that backs this up.
17:01 When the lego set says 3+ years but you eat the lego in 10 seconds
Omds I’m glad you talked about Dreamland I have flashbacks to watching some wierd Tennet doctor who cartoon at age 10 but then u showed me it actually was an episode so thank you
"Actors like Baker"
*You're going to have to be a little bit more specific*

@@julieeverett7442I too love Colin Baker
It kinda is a part of Doctor Who to be embarrassed, when someone uninitiated is watching with you. Had that with my dad and the giant cyberman and the cheesy music at the end of the next doctor.
The Dalek’s theme song in The Stolen Earth is like Duel of the Fates from The Phantom Menace: Perfect
CuppaTeaExe nah no where near but it’s still good
I would love to see you make a best and worst of the Daleks video.
Any chance you will put out any of your creative writing?
I would love to read some after seeing your What I would do with doctor who video.
Hot take, love and monsters is genuinely quite good and fear her is better than new earth
Yeah, I think sometimes I see Ten as the gimmick Doctor (God knows The Day of The Doctor novel did), but that's not giving the character credit he deserves.
Martha, on the other hand, I'll defend every day of the week. Best companion.
As far as Ten companions, I'd say the order is Donna - Martha - Rose.
I think the Master's downfall kind of works, (or parts of it do) it's nice to see the Master panic after him beating the Doctor twice
It emotionally works, but the moment is TOO far-removed from sense or even established sci-fi/fantasy sense to be satisfying for me.

I just realized how much Lazarus looks like super old 11 in the town of Christmas.
I agree. The sheer amount of good makes it so hard to compile only 5 best
Doctor who always works best when it’s a base under siege in my opinion
agreed and doctors 1 through 7 would agree with you too

Time is relative.
But it isn't a reboot. It's a revival.
The christina box set announcement is the point at which I began to fully understand the big finish spin offs meme
I’m one of the few Doctor who fans that likes dreamland
4:50 Can we get one of those for The Timeless Child/Division arc please?
I think this video title has a typo - not sure why "& Worst" is in there
I just realised the design on the masters ring is everywhere in the Lazarus experiment
‘Human Nature’ is the only Doctor Who episode I can remember that I could say “the book was better.”
I have played doctor who top trumps on the Wii. Favourite game of all time
With the tenth doctor I feel like I like the character Tennant is portraying, but just don't feel like he's the doctor to me. He feels more like a dashing, flirtatious rogue rather than an eccentric, wise old space grandpa.
I agree. Luckily, David Tennant is such a superb actor that he's always worth watching.
BlazingEmber66 it is, but I feel like there should be some continuity between incarnations.
@@castellanofgundabad5 That's the least of our worries right now.
I agree, Dark and Endless Dalek Night is the greatest piece of music ever composed for Doctor Who.
I actually love the Lazarus experiment
same! idk why people hate it but im guessing its the cgi cause yh the cgi sucked
Personally my favourite story from the Tennant era is vortex butterflies
I believe i've also read this? Is Sarah Jane briefly in it?

George Francis in Big Finish he plays Sam Bishop, a UNIT agent who mostly works internationally
Tenth Doctor is basically a mix of 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th Doctors
Good video, enjoyed that a lot. 10 is in no way my favourite Doctor but it's undeniable his era was New Who (possibly all Who) at it's peak. And yeah, Prisoner of the Daleks is superb.
It wos because of David tennent I started watching doctor who
Waters of Mars always seemed like it was Kilgrave rather than The Doctor.
The fact jack is the face of boe is actually kind of interesting but each to their own I guess
I can see no possible explanation that will satisfy me in that storyline.
love and monsters is a pretty bad episode but it has some really interesting stuff in there
The idea of a group of people who have been affected by the doctor in some way and are now obsessed with him is really interesting and the scene where Elton remembers the death of his mother is actually quite well done
I think that if they got rid of the abzorbalof and made it the all about the psychological effects that would be caused by encountering a being such as the doctor it could be an amazing character study.
13:26 one of my fav bits of DW EVER is the title sequence of The Stolen Earth and Journeys End because it has SO MANY NAMES
Edit: when i first watched it with my family i was chanting HYPE HYPE HYPE!
I thought dreamland was a fever dream. Thanks for reminding me... I guess
I read Prisoner back in 2009 on a flight to Hawii and stayed up for - I'm not kidding - 36 hours. That's how addictive it was. i was only like 12 at the time.
I hope you can do a "re retrospective" of 11. With more than just the episodes.
0:33 Oi! Colin’s quite nice without the stache! I mean, have you seen Six? He’s definitely on the pretty side!
@@frazzlesreviews5379 Tennant is great on all of them, no time for the blues in any of the stories.
DAVIS well that’s good because there’s enough time for that in his TV stories
James Fraser how do I get these!?
I absolutely love the stolen earth but I can never watch it because when I get to journeys end, Donna getting her memory wiped completely destroys me
See's Planet of the Dead: "Fuck off"

I disagree with the list tenfold, but I see where you are coming from and you do make some good points for Fear Her that I never thought about before.
