I prefer the "nozzle forward" method of digging the line into your hip and leaning forward. one man can deoloy and use a 2 1/2 smooth bore with this method. also if you use the "nozzle forward" method in a sitting position, your back leg folding over the line, you can advance pretty easy. but just like everything in the fire service there are a million ways to do one thing and what works best for you. id highly recommend anyone looking up "nozzle forward". stay safe brothers
Sitting on the line works well for an extended exterior fight. Interior I like to keep the tip well forward of my body, and just drop my rear knee on the line. It's nice if the back up man is about 4-5' behind, kneeling on the line. Don't like to be crowded, and can back up quicker, should I need to, if we're not tripping on each other.
